Really fed up, sorry

Not much more to say, Ab but here are some for your spanking new kitchen!

Housing officer telephoned this morning. Work on kitchen starting next Tuesday . I will have the tenancy of the property after New Year and they will scrap the two week rule of me holding the two tenancies and extend it to FOUR WEEKS to give me time to move. Yippee.

My son in law is back in the country though January so they can come down here to help.

I am sure all the good thoughts here reached her

Just let the hassles go and make it the best makeshift Christmas ever. Sometimes chaos is a good thing (says the Queen of chaos) can you go to friends for lunch or the pub.

In the overall scheme of things it is just one day, winter moves, summer moves, bloody moves in general are all fraught with problems but you are about to make an exciting leap at time when new neighbours may feel enabled to call and start new friendships....

Councils do seem to consider that they are dealing with units rather than people.......but mulled wine and chocolate cure most things, as the light comes back after Christmas you won't know yourself for excitements of you new place.

Annie just seen your good news. Sorry to hear about finger, hope it heals soon - take it easy & let others take some of the strain.

It's horrible when you've no control over timing - when I moved last year I sold to a cash buyer who needed to be in within 3 weeks (Park Home), so Removal firm booked (they packed ornaments, china & glass), everything into storage apart from personal possessions & some clothes which went with me. I moved out on Monday & went to stay with my DD, Storage Unit filled on Tuesday by my lovely Removal firm, Wednesday went to view a Property & made an offer, Thursday just before we left to go & look for a car for DD Estate Agent phoned, offer accepted but could I go with Bank Statements (to prove I had funds) & Driving Licence for ID, Car purchased for DD.

Then problems started, Solicitors were dealing with sale although it was a Park Home, owner had died & to make matters worse Park Owner had died & there was a lack of paperwork, I moved in 6 weeks later (after a variety of temporary accommodation) but I didn't own my home & couldn't dispose of furniture etc until it was all signed over. Another 5 weeks until I had paid for it so no chance to re-carpet as I needed to get my furniture out of storage (£££).

On the bright side I love my new home & I'm nearer DD & DGS, new arrival due end of May & lots of new friends.

Good luck with the move. Re post about using arnica: I always use the cream now as I am not sure how the tablets might react with my normal medication. Fingers crossed for a successful move.

What a difficult time some have had moving house , you have my sympathy

Well , just over a month and I should have the key, I have waited nearly seventeen years for this bungalow , will really believe I have it when I sign the tenancy agreement and am clutching the keys ?

Yes colour coding boxes is good for the removel men. Plus a smile and a grateful attitude towards them will work wonders.

Before I moved into a house.... after spending 20 or so years in flats of one kind or another......I drew a scale plan of the main living room and then scale peices of paper labelled with the name of each piece of furniture.

I then had great fun moving them all around "in the room" on paper, to get the best layout.

It saved a lot of time once in the actual room instead of "umming and arrrring"about each piece of furniture and where it should go.

Anyway ANNIEBACH I wish you well and hope you LOVE your new home, when you get there.

I moved 15 times with my Mum and Dad, RAF MQs. Then I went and did the same with OH. Madness. We threw out a lot of stuff and sold a lot of stuff I would rather have kept, but we could not take it with us and it would have cost an arm and a leg to store for 3+ yrs and then another 3+ years abroad.

Now I am beginning to think I am lucky. Most of the clutter has gone, I made sure that 3 sons cleared their stuff out of the loft before they decided to leave it with us. They have their own loft! Anyway when we are gone it would mean they would have had to do it then.

So, sorry you are feeling frustrated about your move, but look on the bright side. You can use this as an opportunity to de-clutter! Excellent! Hope your finger soon gets better.
