I had a medical appointment today and arrived 5minutes early. After a 15 minute wait, a woman arrived and was ushered in to see the consultant. After 30 minutes and with my taxi ticking, I asked the receptionist why there was the delay. She explained that the previous patient had arrived late. My question is would you, as the receptionist, have waited for the tardy patient and thus penalised the punctual one or made the tardy patient wait until after the punctual patient had been seen? I’d be interested to have your opinions.

You’re the receptionist. What would you have done?
