What a pathetic bunch. How can anyone expect a man who looks frightened and has to hide behind a group of women to run a Country?

Isn't it interesting that a number of people have castigated the team that surrounds Corbyn because they are women. Why shouldn't they be? Surely we should see the fact that women are playing a leading part in the party, and that it is not, as is traditional young men surrounding a leading politician, as a positive step.

Perhaps Bill Clinton is feeling a bit jealous, there can't be many young women now who would want to be associated with him.

Of course an abbreviated name is an alias. What is not to get? Would Fred or Joe not be aliases? An abbreviated name only becomes a non alias if everyone knows the person or of the person e.g Nye, Becks, Boris.

How can an abbreviated name be an alias when it is the same name? Now Eric Blair who became George Orwell is an alias.

I am sticking to my principles, I voted for Corbyn mistakenly thinking he was as loyal to the labour as I am.

I did not know he led a campaign to bring back militants who had been excluded from the Labour Party, he did this in full knowledge it was militancy and far left ideals which cost labour the biggest loss of seats in a general election. Whilst grassroots members struggled for fourteen years to bring bsck voters trust in labour this man was working against us.

He appointed that woman to investigate the anti semitism allegations and rewarded her with a seat in the lords, she had been a member for just s few months, many believe it to be a secret agreement, I do not know if it was but I am on the side of an agreement .

He only appears at momentum rallies where he is not at risk of hecklers

Most GN members who have viewable profiles remain anonymous so far as real names, and sometimes locations, are concerned. Presumably you think they're all hiding behind aliases too...

I would suggest that although alias and nickname refer to names that are not the person's real name, an alias is chosen by the person concerned (I have chosen Grumppa as an alias), but a nickname is conferred on the person by others. Some Gransnetters may have a nickname for me, but I'm not sure I want to know!

Some people do choose their own nickname so that doesn't hold water.
A thesaurus does list words of similar meanings but was intended to be used to find a word that could replace another word when writing. So an alias might certainly be a nickname and a nick name might certainly be used as an alias. Both would imply that a name is being used which is not the persons given name and which might therefore make it harder to identify someone.
One example might be Charles Dickens who first published under the nickname Boz.
