Does anyone else feel a little surge of delight when "Karma" kicks in and a person who has been unkind etc gets payback without you having to do a thing except wait......

Muddy Mon 24-Oct-16 09:41:51

Oh yes , I know it happens , and now my daughter is happily married bless her , but what hell she went through to get to this happy place , and so did we as her family . I would say Karma is the best way to think , when need be . Phew thats my first time posting , hope it works .

NonnaAnnie Mon 24-Oct-16 09:44:11

I have been maligned and would far prefer a public apology and admission of wrong doing. Failing that Karma do your worst.

Persistentdonor Mon 24-Oct-16 09:44:14

Well, yes I'm afraid I do. sad
But isn't the thing about Karma that, "EVERY thought and EVERY action has a consequence and a re-action"?
So therefore, sitting here with clenched teeth wishing ill fortune on someone "nasty" is highly likely to bring something bad back to me.
Isn't it? blush

Several years ago I was buying a house, but just as we were about to exchange contracts, the woman selling the house withdrew the sale, costing me several hundred pounds in survey fees and requiring me to beg my landlord to ignore my notice to vacate a rented property. I was told that the vendor only withdrew the sale to get back at her ex, who jointly owned the house. A couple of months later, a neighbour told me that this woman's car had been stolen from the front of the house. Was that karma? I promise you that the fact I was working with young offenders at the time was pure coincidence, but I am not proud of the smug feeling I that came over me at receiving this news. Come to think of it, I still smile about it.

I'm a great believer in fate, what will be will be. What goes round will eventually come around.

I love a bit of Karma. It is quite logical in my opinion, everything being a social construct we live within what we create.......

We all know that a man/woman who bunks off and leaves their kids for anther partner can't be trusted...karma has a lot of common sense on its side.......you reap what you sow, you get out of life what you put in etc.

Works for me. Sometimes karma needs a nudge..........nothing's perfect.

harrysgran Mon 24-Oct-16 10:05:47

Definitely feeling smuggrin

maddieb Mon 24-Oct-16 10:08:53

Absolutely yes! My mum always said "what goes round, comes round" and as I have got older I have come to appreciate what that meant.
Those who cause harm will get their just desserts when the time comes and I will in no way be involved in that - just sit back and
watch.

I am still waiting - there is one man in Tenerife who has caused our family so much grief, and cost us a fortune who has no intention of paying his large debts - but it will come to him... one day...Patience.

marionk Mon 24-Oct-16 10:14:58

Me too Phoenix, having a truly sh...y year!

sue01 Mon 24-Oct-16 10:15:07

Oh yes, I love Karma. As a child of the 60s I would - wouldn't I ?? My only problem with it, is that it often takes so long to happen !!

Anniebach Mon 24-Oct-16 10:20:49

karma/you reap what you sow . Does this mean the person who has been harmed is also reaping what they sow ?

Ramblingrose22 Mon 24-Oct-16 10:27:29

Yes, it can take a while to happen.

My sister used to take medication for epilepsy and kept the tablets in her handbag. She had a steady boyfriend whose mother didn't like her and stealthily removed one of the tablets and had it analysed. She then successfully persuaded the boyfriend to dump my sister, who was very upset, and went to church to give thanks for his lucky "escape" due to her actions from marrying someone who was "ill".

Years later we heard that the ex-boyfriend had become ill with Crohn's disease and died in his 40's.

Whilst this is a terrible thing to have happened, the mother was still alive and must have suffered dreadfully. My sister was able to stop taking epilepsy medication by the age of 21 and is still with us today.

I don't believe in karma- I used to. I just believe no matter who you are you just got to make the most of your life. I question karma when bad things happen to good people.

BBbevan Mon 24-Oct-16 10:34:43

What goes around comes around. Karma by any other name. I always hope it will happen smile

granjura Mon 24-Oct-16 10:36:36

Anneishere and Anniebach - yes, you are so right, thank you.

KatyK Mon 24-Oct-16 10:37:50

Yes! If someone has been horrible to me or mine, I am guilty of wishing them pay back. I agree that sometimes it takes to long to happen and also I don't like myself for my unkind thoughts towards these people.

dizzygran Mon 24-Oct-16 10:43:11

Don't like myself for it but find myself wishing revenge on people who are unkind to me or my family and not feeling too sorry when something happens to them!!

moobox Mon 24-Oct-16 10:57:56

I wonder what revenge we could wish on dog owners who leave a neat plastic bag of poo in the middle of the pavement - maybe that they help someone else's to biodegrade by moving it round on the bottom of their own shoe

Anniebach Mon 24-Oct-16 10:59:17

So karma just means we want revenge

NonnaAnnie Mon 24-Oct-16 11:14:10

And Annieshere, when good things happen to bad people?

KatyK Mon 24-Oct-16 11:26:32

I am waiting for karma to visit someone at the moment. Someone who wasn't very nice to my DH when he was going through gruelling treatment for cancer. Yes, possibly karma is revenge but I can't help how I feel.

Grannynise Mon 24-Oct-16 11:28:19

I think Karma also means good things happening to people who do good things. I'd like to think so anyway.

SandyD Mon 24-Oct-16 11:28:31

Yes I do.

Legs55 Mon 24-Oct-16 11:30:31

"what goes around, comes around" is something I can always remember being said in our family (Yorkshire born & bred).

Yes it gives me great pleasure when it happens - my DD, after her Dad died was meant to receive some of his collection of Beswick Cattle & Sheep (which I started for him as presents) as were her three half-sisters & half-brother. Instead eldest half-sister took all of them. Some years later she lost her home in a fire & all their possessions (she was likely to blame by drying clothes too close to a fire). I'm afraid we couldn't feel sorry for her although we did feel sorry for her husband & children grin
