It drives my husband nuts when I say anything beginning with the line "in my next life, I will......"
Following a discussion on the radio about visiting Nashville I (innocently) said "Oh I would love to visit Nashville... maybe in my next life.." and I hadn't even finished my sentence when he threw a proper, man-strop !
I can't see the problem. I know there are certain things I will never see or do in this life so what's the harm in hoping I might do it in the next?

"Old fashioned" expressions that young people have never heard.

Perhaps the previous posters are right, but I do think that your husband is over reacting!
