Ruby, are you OK? Haven't seen you posting recently.

kittylester Wed 14-Sept-16 19:32:17

They can't do that! But the old name stays on old posts

I think of Ariadne every time I start a sentence with 'and' - she said it was OK to do!?

rubylady Wed 14-Sept-16 20:09:26

I'm here ladies, all is fine. Thank you all so much though, it means a lot that you have missed me. I've just been up and down about DS going and over the last couple of years have bored myself with it all, so I thought I would lie low for a bit, as no doubt I have bored some of you too with it all. hmm

He goes next Friday. I went away to the spa but had to come back after the first night as I wasn't well and didn't manage to get out of the hotel room anyway, no restaurant meal, no massage, nothing. Not even tele, as there were about five channels working when promised far more. I had to watch CSI so I came home, I can't be having that going on! grin

I have been trying to get the house ready for when he goes, you know, like you do when you go on holiday. It's been a bit of a slog when at one time I would have had it all done in an hour. Never mind, getting on the better side now.

I had noticed myself that there seemed a few new posters and the older posters weren't around as much. I hope that they are ok too and glad to see Wilma is ok.

One good thing today was phoning the CSA to tell them that I no longer get Child Support for his nibs, so they could close the case now and stop any further payments from ex husband. Very satisfying to eventually have nothing to do with him, especially as today would have been my 31st wedding anniversary, 34 years since courting.

Anyway, off now to watch Robot Wars with son. It's a university special and his university is on, was originally on in 2003 though so a bit dated now but still.

Take care all of you and thanks again. flowers

The problem is :-

GNHQ does not like anyone changing their name

But

If you de-register (as I have done recently) you cannot come back under your old name, I would love to have come back as Pompa (hence I still refer to Mrs P, so I make no secret of who I was)

Catch 22 situation.

Ana Wed 14-Sept-16 20:22:44

And I don't think there was ever any indication that STB had been banned for life! It's very rare for that to happen.

Wobblybits Wed 14-Sept-16 20:28:40

I can't see how anyone can be banned for life, they could simply re join using a different email address and name. I have several email addresses that I use for the U3A groups I run.

Ana Wed 14-Sept-16 20:33:48

That's true, but they'd have to be careful not to draw attention to themselves by repeating past behaviour.

Alima Wed 14-Sept-16 20:35:33

Glad you are OK Ruby. I think it was brilliant that fellow regulars noticed your absence and cared enough to comment, you have some good friends here!

Ana Wed 14-Sept-16 20:36:22

Sorry, rubylady, didn't mean to ignore you - glad you're OK smile

jinglbellsfrocks Wed 14-Sept-16 20:39:58

No. It's not email they go by. There is something else. It's technical.

Hiya rubylady smile

Wobblybits Wed 14-Sept-16 20:44:31

It could only be IPaddress or MAC address, both would easily be got round.

Wobblybits Wed 14-Sept-16 20:56:24

If anyone really wants to know what they are I can explain, but it is boring.

Mildred Wed 14-Sept-16 20:56:34

Good to hear from you Ruby.

jinglbellsfrocks Wed 14-Sept-16 20:58:39

We won't bother wb. Ta. smile

NfkDumpling Wed 14-Sept-16 21:10:50

Does that mean Frank is here? Somewhere? I'm a bit thick and niaive about these things.

Glad all is going well for you Ruby, I was wondering, with the term starting for your DS soon.

DaphneBroon Wed 14-Sept-16 21:13:50

Are you watching a different Robotwars*Rubylady*? I thought it was the grand final.

jogginggirl Wed 14-Sept-16 21:20:17

I was thinking about you in the early hours Ruby but assumed that you were 'getting on with getting DS organised' ... ?

Do let us know when he is has gone and how you are..... 'empty nesting' can be fun and sad at the same time ....??

cornergran Wed 14-Sept-16 22:22:32

Pleased you are ok ruby

Auntieflo Wed 14-Sept-16 22:57:04

Ruby, so glad you are OK, but sorry that you didn't enjoy your spa break. Perhaps another time. Good luck to your son when he starts his new life in Uni. flowers to you.

rubylady Wed 14-Sept-16 22:57:41

Aw, thank you all so much. That's what I mean jogging, one minute I can't wait to be on my own and the next I don't want him to go. I have been through this once already, with my ED, but I still had him at home so it is different in that I will be on my own for the first time ever in my life.

Have you still been up late/early? How are things going with you? How is your mum and your DH with the itching, has it settled down or gone altogether? Thank you for thinking of me, especially in the dark hours, I hope your problems now are little ones and you were up for something other than worry or illness. flowers

I do cherish my friends on here, many have become special to me, and it has boosted my spirit to know that I was missed. Thank you all. smile

rubylady Thu 15-Sept-16 00:19:47

I will have the chat with my DS sometime to say that if anything happens to me at any time in the future, then I will leave instructions for him to get in touch with any correspondence online. I know that this might scare him a bit, but he is my next of kin and maybe the conversation needs to be had? What does anyone think? I will not say anything until I have your opinions.

Has anyone else had this conversation with their child/children? X

mumofmadboys Thu 15-Sept-16 07:20:26

Perhaps not a good conversation to have when he is just leaving home for uni, Ruby. Could you add some instructions to keep with your will? Hope he has a great time at uni.

Anya Thu 15-Sept-16 07:30:28

Yes, leave that conversation for now. He has enoigh to worry about just now. Assure him you are going to be fine and will look forward to seeing him at Christmas.

Willow500 Thu 15-Sept-16 17:04:19

Glad you're ok Ruby - your son going off to Uni will be a big change for both of you. Having said that my granddaughter left home last year to go to uni and then moved in with her bf last month and has been home more than she's been away so don't clear his room just yet smile I think the talk about your will should be broached when he has settled down in a couple of months time - or you could just leave a letter with your instructions to be opened in the event of and tell him where you've put it. What a shame you couldn't enjoy your spa weekend though - maybe you could treat yourself once he's left as something to look forward to flowers

Judthepud2 Thu 15-Sept-16 23:36:12

Hello Ruby Glad you are ok.

I too noticed that Wendysue hasn't posted for quite a while. I used to enjoy reading her carefully thought out posts.

Sorry your spa break didn`t work out for you Ruby, maybe another time?
NfkDumpling, I still miss Frank!
