Big birthday this past weekend accompanied by a huge family party with a Florida beach theme in the garden.

My family threw themselves in it with gusto and a great time was had by all.

Today, I finally have some time to look at my gifts and had to chuckle at the eclectic mix. I wonder what it says about me if these are the things my family thought I would want !!

1. Several bottles of champagne .....boozer?
2. Fully blinded out walking stick covered in crystals ....Essex girl of course!
3. A working police siren, lights and number plates for my mobility scooter ! .....law breaker?
4. A gift basket stuffed with chocolates and a ticket to a drive in movie to see Top Gub ..... 80's chocoholic?
5. Several vouchers for meals out in my favourite places for 2 people .....glutton ?
6. A machine to clip under the seat of my mobility scooter that blows bubbles....child at heart?

So.....I'm a drunk Essex girl, with criminal tendencies, likes chocolate, old movies , eats too much and is young at heart !! Lol

So what did your birthday presents say about you ?

I am surprised haw many presents people receive. Who do they all come from? I am given presents by DH, both children and both grandchildren and that is all. I do not exchange presents with any one outside immediate family.

I got flowers, plants, earrings, perfume, mascara and lipstick, a t shirt, from the kids, a meal out at a posh restaurant and ( promised) money towards my upcoming dental bill from OH. I always treat myself though and I bought myself some lovely lingerie and a handbag.

NanaandGrampy Tue 13-Sept-16 18:26:57

And why not Suzied ....after all...it's because we're worth it. smile

It was a special birthday Monica, and I think because people came they bought gifts. We are all far flung so it's a rare thing and we don't send gifts generally . I was just lucky ???

My last big birthday H and I went to Switzerland all arranged and booked by me sad
I really can't remember what this years birthday brought. Well it was 8 mths ago !

Maggiemaybe Tue 13-Sept-16 19:04:43

Last year DH and I practically shared significant birthdays - 5 years and 4 days apart. Our presents were almost exclusively meals out and booze. Whatever our friends were trying to tell us, they were probably right smile

suzied Tue 13-Sept-16 19:07:48

My presents probably say I am a self indulgent oldie who needs their teeth done (correct).

loopylou Tue 13-Sept-16 19:08:40

Ummm.......
No presents other than £25 from my parents?

Lillie Tue 13-Sept-16 20:29:22

I received the smaller presents from the dogs monica! Don't ask! grin
The theatre tickets were from the grandchildren. Other presents from DH and the offspring.

Token gifts from C and GC who presently are not in circumstances to do anything else. Nothing from H who doesn't understand and an extravagant one from me to me.

annsixty Tue 13-Sept-16 20:41:07

Sorry I forgot to say what it says about me but frankly I just don't know.

NanaandGrampy Tue 13-Sept-16 20:45:37

Ann it says you deserve a lot more !! And that you're a sensible woman and treated yourself because even if no one else can or even remembers you're worth celebrating x

kittylester Tue 13-Sept-16 20:59:12

Well said nandg!

My last birthday included a silver heart shaped necklace, a stuffed dog, theatre tickets, a meal out and other stuff I have forgotten but my birthday was in january. Oh, I might have had a colour consultation. No idea what that says about me! confused

Charleygirl Tue 13-Sept-16 21:07:16

I said years ago that I did not want birthday or C*******s presents. I really do not need anything and if I feel I do I go out and buy it.

tanith Tue 13-Sept-16 21:14:51

Same as Charleygirl here, the girls always bring flowers or plants because they say 'we can't get you nothing Mum' but I'm happy as long as they remember or send a card and visit. OH and I usually treat ourselves to a trip away for our birthdays as they are very close together.
Don't know what that says about me other than I'm easily pleased grin

annodomini Tue 13-Sept-16 21:31:22

A gift in my name to Save the Children's wishlist. But the best gift was my flying lesson. Goodness knows what they'll think of next.

NanaandGrampy Tue 13-Sept-16 21:31:24

On ordinary birthdays I do like a bit of grandchildren made tat !! :-)

I prefer a card they made to a shop bought one and whatever they found in the pound shop they thought I couldn't live without !!

I think that's why I got a blue light for my scooter lol

annodomini Tue 13-Sept-16 21:32:29

So what does that say about me? I expect the unexpected!

gillybob Tue 13-Sept-16 21:40:03

Birthdays ? hmm

gillybob Tue 13-Sept-16 21:40:30

Yet another (yawn)

Ana Tue 13-Sept-16 21:43:49

Ana Tue 13-Sept-16 21:44:16

Hope tomorrow's better for you smile
