I agree with Jings about a like button. I wish I could remember the forum with a Thank button, but there was one I used to read. Popular posters only had to say LOL, and they got loads of thanks. Others who had something interesting to say hardly got any. I think it was because they hadn't been to any of the meets. I thought it was cliquey.

Peaceatlast if you do have a sneaky peek I for one am sorry you are leaving the forum but fully understand why . I have been considering it myself .
I think forums can often bring out the worst in people who because of the anonymity think they can say what ever they like with no regard for others feelings . They would never behave like this if they were face to face with someone . Some seem to enjoy goading and some are just plain unpleasant (always the same people)
I have been looking around for a forum where people are more polite , less argumentative not so self righteous , so I think I will join you .

Well here's my little input I joined a few years back, after a good while I felt exactly as others have said Mildred and OP to note I thought I was being ignored and yes the awful last post that never got anything further posted, the famous kiss of death I saw other people 'talking' to each other like old friends and really felt like an infiltrator an outsider I felt uncomfortable so without saying anything I just stopped posting and trained myself not to look any more I didn't cancel my membership or flouce or anything just went away quietly One day a few months back I decided to give it another go, at first it felt the same and I thought it was a mistake to come back but I ve just kept posting away and occasionally I have had answers using my name some agreeing some disagreeing which is fine I will keep going and see how it all goes but I do enjoy the site I enjoy joining in having a debate or a moan adding my two penneth for what it's worth and hopefully this won't be the end of this thread ..... I m hiding behind the settee in case xx

Peaceatlast, don't de-register, just take a break. As some one sadi, most of those that flounce off, come back, it's the law.
Nothing wrong with a good flounce, sometimes it's the only way to get things in perspective, and it gives other GNers something to talk about. Very few Gners don't get criticised from time to time, you can't please all the people all the time.
As you have probably guessed, I have flounced off a few times, only to regret it quite quickly.

Maybe some posters have multiple identities on here and argue with themselves.

LOL, talking to yourself is odd, arguing with yourself on a forum would be plain weird.

I have to confess to being a bit of a lurker before I started posting, many posters on here are very witty, I enjoy those threads, like the Olympic one. I don't like the political threads although I am interested in politics I feel some of those posters get too intense and can be impolite to people with different views to their own but on the whole GN is very good for advice, information and humour. I am also glad to find that other posters have felt the same as me. There have I killed off this thread?

Where would you find such a forum, really? (Even if you wanted to) People are the same everywhere aren't they?

I haven't seen many really unpleasant posters on Gransnet.

I read lots of interesting posts, some hilarious, many very wise or interesting, but I wouldn't always comment. The thread would be full of people say "oh good post Grannysmith" or whatever, it would get boring. Or what used to happen in the early days of GN was the same posters clique always jumping down the throats as a group on some poor hapless poster. I am glad those days are over, GN is very mild now.

You upstaged me Faye!! I wanted to be the last poster . Hate the "I am right" moral highground posters.

I very much like to have the last word I don't ever kill threads Pollengran.

Thanks for your posts peaceatlast. I have usually found them sensible , moderate and helpful.
