Whilst there are some posters on Gransnet that I don't agree with, I generally find that people are much nicer and more friendly than on Facebook or other online forums. This also seems to be the only place where people give advice on serious personal issues. I have also been put down once on here and a couple of times seemed to end a thread but no-one has been rude like they can be on FB.

Perhaps why DH likes it (carborundum being a combination of two proper words which are materials used for grinding)
