I'm agog to know what Gandt said that was so awful! Trying to contain my natural nosiness ! GN can be upsetting. Never Soops though!

Anya Sun 21-Aug-16 19:15:47

Lona what wonderful news sunshine

wot Sun 21-Aug-16 19:43:50

Oh dear, wrong g thread I know but I seemed to have grubbed up a rose when I was over zealous in my weeding! Is it too late in the year to plant another rose? I feel awful.

thatbags Sun 21-Aug-16 20:08:02

That's excellent news, lona! ?

DaphneBroon Sun 21-Aug-16 20:11:36

I am keeping well clear of today's "shenanigans" as I seem to have a knack of saying the wrong thing and arousing acrimony, All I would like to say is that this is a verbal disagreement between people who only communicate online, nobody has been physically hurt, nobody died and there are worse things happening out there. So I hope feathers will be unruffled, tempers will cool down and "normal service be resumed as soon as possible".
That said I have been to a very happy 80th birthday tea (well prosecco mostly) party at our neighbour's with whom I taught for many years. Sadly he was widowed about 10 (?) years ago but his lovely daughters who are in their in their 40's had organised it for friends and family and we were lucky enough to be in the garden the whole time.
On the back of the invitation there was a quote which I would like to leave you with
"It is scientifically proven that people who have more birthdays live longer"

Crikey , the 'mean girls' are alive and well and being bullies on GN !!

Couldn't stop myself from commenting smile .

On a nicer note, the christening was lovely. Beautiful old church, love very lady vicar . The baby is also much loved and doted on . My DD brought my DGD too and she was very excited at being included.

It was a lovely afternoon in the sunshine .

I had a manic week last week 4 trips to hospital in 5 days. Nothing really wrong (hopefully) but hospital blunders and daft procedures. Having said that we have been well looked after by all the doctors and nurses involved who have been pleasant and kind and just as confused about what was going on as we were

Lisalou I was reading your post about your numerous pets and suddenly thought I had read somewhere about you being hit by a flying crumpet! Either it was on another thread or I've had a glass or two too much wine tonight confused

GandTea. Not again shock. Please don't go. No idea what it's all about but please stay.

ann60 so glad you are feeling a bit better.

moon moon night night Soop and all the kitcheners and pets. I'm off for an early night ....appt with doctor first thing in the morning!

Crafting Sun 21-Aug-16 21:45:36

Lona forgot to say that's really good news about your son. You must be very pleased smile

Anya Sun 21-Aug-16 22:35:24

wot you can plant roses any time in my experience - they're hardy little beggars.

jinglbellsfrocks Sun 21-Aug-16 22:42:50

It's so funny, the way you lot seem to think you can criticise anyone on other threads, without anyone outside the "kitchen" knowing. grin

Newsflash - it's not real! grin

Anya Sun 21-Aug-16 22:44:55

What's that all about jingl confused

jinglbellsfrocks Sun 21-Aug-16 22:51:08

Quoting: " the 'mean girls' are alive and well and being bullies on GN !!"

(Don't know what thread it referred to.

Not exactly criticising, you understand. Just think it's funny. It's as though you are really in a room in a house away from the rest of us. smile

Anya Sun 21-Aug-16 22:56:00

Why on earth would anyone think this thread is invisible to others jingl?

However I'm just marking time until I can take another painkiller so would you like a nice cup of hot chocolate as I'm making myself one?

wot Sun 21-Aug-16 22:56:24

I felt rotten about that rose, if indeed it was me who pulled it up. There's still a stalk about 3 inches high. Could it have been a rabbit or a rat who ate it? Thanks for your advice, I will go and but one. Not many roses these days have a lovely smell though!

wot Sun 21-Aug-16 22:58:09

This kitchen is a warm, safe haven and I love it!

wot Sun 21-Aug-16 22:58:30

And all who sail in her!

numberplease Sun 21-Aug-16 23:00:22

Annsixty, so pleased that things are getting better for you.
Lona, that`s wonderful news!
Lisalou, loved reading about your pets, they all sound to have character.
G & T, please don`t leave us, surely whatever it is can be sorted?
I did a car boot sale this morning with daughter 3, we didn`t sell a lot though, it was only a small affair, and we heard that there was a BIG car boot sale on the other side of town. The weather was warm and sunny, but SOOOO windy, we had to hold most of our stuff down!

Anya Sun 21-Aug-16 23:01:24

Go online to David Austen Roses or look for them at garden centres. I only buy scented roses.

Though I wouldn't be surprised if your roses came back wot .....I've been trying to dig up a particularly thorny rose for years now and every time the blighter grows back.

jinglbellsfrocks Sun 21-Aug-16 23:02:11

Crikey! Just seen the thread most likely referred to!! grin

Is that a record for deleted posts?!

No ta Anya, Just had a bowl of rice crispies. smile moon

Anya Sun 21-Aug-16 23:03:07

Ah ha! Time to take my painkillers at last and hope I can get some sleep for a change.

Wishing everyone a pain free and peaceful night moon

wot Sun 21-Aug-16 23:05:42

Thanks, anya!

millymouge Mon 22-Aug-16 07:01:44

Why does GandT want to leave. Why can't people just get on together and accept they we all have different opinions. Life would be so dull if we all thought exactly the same.

annsixty Mon 22-Aug-16 07:53:31

Perhaps G&T should just ignore and move on.

cornergran Mon 22-Aug-16 08:27:37

Seen the thread now, I think. Things do get out of hand, puzzles me why. ann could well be right, just rise above it and ignore, but as can't see the deleted posts hard to understand properly. Busy day here today, the garden will be sorted, it will, it will, it will....................... Or might be if I get out if bed grin.

NanaandGrampy Mon 22-Aug-16 08:38:44

Good Morning all !!

I loved the quote Daphne and might need to steal it smile

Brilliant news Iona

Jingl Yes I said that , I stand by it and I'm in no doubt that my post CAN be read by anyone on GN. I don't for one minute think its 'secret' ( and why on earth would I??) or that I'm in a room where no one else can read my comments. So I'm afraid you're right off beam there . I didn't name names, I didn't direct it at one person , it was merely MY opinion. And I said it on the thread in question. My comment was deleted because I had quoted the disgusting comment that I responded to.

and ....hope your eye appointment goes well Ann . How will you get there? I hope something is arranged to minimise troubling your knee?

Its going to be a quiet day crafting here , with a trip for Sam to get a hair cut. For some reason he is shedding terribly - quite unusual for him so its time for a short back and side !!

Gandtea the best revenge would be to stay and be thorn in your detractors side ;-)

Happy days one and all !
