My dear brother has dementia (very bad now and finally in a care home). Things have been very up and down since he was first diagnosed many years ago. It may be ann that your DH got a bit lost in himself while you were in hospital and this has affected him quite a bit. My brother went through phases where he forgot who my SIL was and went through a bad patch, then he seemed to recover a bit and then he remembered who she was again. He also stopped walking for a while but is now walking better than he has for years . It must be so hard for you to cope with his changes whilst recovering from surgery yourself. Hopefully, his current state will be a passing phase and he will pick up again.

Tizliz that is a lazy article sleeping on the rug. His sleeping habits are on a par with Grace, *DaphneBroon's beautiful greyhound I would think. Grace I would imagine is too tired to have fun and games in any room at night as that time is allocated for her sleeping.

Charleyg Bracken scarpers the moment we get to within a short distance from her. I do believe that she has the best of both worlds. She is fed regularly and she has a cosy utility room in which she spends the evening with Rory. She will also have her own favourite hideaway in the forest. Her chalet is pleasant and serviced regularly. She has been known to spend the night in it.

Tizliz Anlon looks most comfortable. He is a beautiful canine.

I've been watching the diving. Sorry that Tom Daley has not scored enough points to see him through to tonight's final. He's a very pleasant young man.

That's not so good. ann60. Understand you need to be strong, but if the tears are there you will be stronger if they have had some space. I cry when I'm angry, wonder if you do and some are angry tears, if so definitely better to allow them. Feel worried for you as you are still needing to recover yourself. Hope you still have help. I know little about your husband's illness but wonder if sometimes deterioration may be temporary? Can only hope so. I agree that doctors will sometimes say a little alcohol is fine with medication, worth asking, the worst that can happen is that you are told you shouldn't . The virtual wine can do no harm so sending more ????along with hugs and a ☘ and a ? For luck.

Soop, I was also watching the diving, and so disappointed that Tom Daley didn`t get to the final, his qualifying dives yesterday were brilliant.
A sunny day today, still warm but slightly cooler, but VERY strong winds, I made the mistake of wearing a skirt to town this morning, spent the time holding it down!

I love all your pets, Rory is gorgeous - does he like laps? He is welcome to come and sit with me and be adored as he deserves!

Oscar is a real cutey! He sounds really bright and will make for easy training.

I dont think I have introduced my pets, Crumble the yellow lab, now quite elderly (12 at Christmas) Pocket, the long haired chihuahua (not my choice, my DD bought him, promised to take care of him...went off to college, no dogs etc you know the routine) who I must admit, i love dearly despite the original imposition; my two cats: Mr Catastrophy (Stroph to all his friends) who will be seventeen in November and is a rather large tabby with a white bib, and little Domino, my little cat who never really grew up (she is tiny) who is a sort of calico and lives on my lap if i let her. She is also getting on, will be twelve next spring.


Oh. And DH, mustn't forget DH

In another thread I had a post was an explanation of my position and a response to the post criticising my earlier deleted post.
It would appear that I am not being allowed to defend my position.

I do not believe my post broke any guideline or was directed at any individual. GNHQ have given me no explanation.

I have requested the post be restored, and explanation, given or my account and all its posts be deleted.

I would be sorry to leave GN and my friends , but if i am not allowed to answer my critics that is totally unreasonable and not acceptable.

Hello to LisaLous extended family. When I was still at school my Mum refused to let us have any pets ( said there were too many of us and enough trouble without a pet as well) and a neighbour had a longhaired Chihuahua called Topo Gigio ( Joe for short) who I used to borrow for walkies ( Well 'carries' actually.) And he was the sweetest little thing ever. So I can see how yours stole your heart.

Welcome Lisalou, Crumble, Pocket, Stroph and wee Dominoe. You have made our day. Us lot enjoy the company of animals. Our Rory has only ever sat on one lap - my husband, MacSporrans. He was very fierce when he met us. However, from day one he has been besotted with MacS. He permits me to pet and feed him. That's my lot.

GandTea What the heck has been going on? We cannot read the post to which you refer. That's barmy. If you dare leave us lot in the kitchen, we'll be well miffed. So, less of it. GNHQ PLEASE be reasonable. G&T is a good man and has always given us a great deal of support when we've needed it.

Just to prove I am not a misery guts ALL the time, I am much brighter today a good deal of progress is being made.
I have been upstairs for the first time since I came home and may sleep up there tonight. I didn't need my crutch to get up or down. I am trying to manage without codeine but have been in a little pain so I may review that. It is my last DVT injection today and tomorrow should see a visit from the District Nurse to remove the dressing and then I can have a shower. The gel frozen pack is very effective I should have had it in ready. All in all I nearly feel like Ann, not a poor old lady. I hope everyone else will progress and feel as I do.

So glad that you are feeling much better today annsixty. That's the trouble with surgery. It often makes you feel much worse before you start to feel the benefits. It sounds as though you are on the road to recovery now and will soon be skipping about like a spring lamb.

annsixty good news that you are feeling brighter today and can get upstairs without the crutches. I'm sorry your dh has had a setback but maybe he was disorientated by your hospitalisation and the change of routine. Hopefully he will be able to slowly get his bearings again.
Like others have said, I bet a glass of wine will do you the power of good and I would certainly give it a go

Forgot to give you some good news! My son went to the eye hospital on Friday for his monthly eye injections and they said he didn't need any treatment! First time for three years! You can guess how happy we were. He still has to go back in four weeks but the prospect of him going blind seems to be receding slowly. ????

Lona Undercarriage is recovering from the rootle tootle. I've been Googling the corrective surgery that I shall have in due course. Recovery time estimated to be four months.

Annsixty It's very good to hear you are feeling better. Do use the painkillers, as lower a dose as is possible to allow you to do your exercises. I had this with my shoulder tendon repairs and I had to be nagged by the physios to take the painkillers before exercising. Don't just pretend to be brave.

Lona good news indeed. I last went 6 weeks ago tomorrow and for the first time also didn't need an injection. I have an appointment tomorrow evening so watch this space.
I do know now that I do need the codeine for some little time yet. I have felt the pain coming on and realise how foolish I was to let it take hold. One of the things stressed is that you take them before you need them. I am waiting for the dose I took at 1:15 to kick in

That's the problem with painkiller. annsixty, they trick you into believing things are more settled than they are. Doesn't mean you aren't progressing, though, just need some help a little bit longer. When I think of our neighbour after his surgery you are steaming along. Don't be disheartened, your progress is amazing .
