Actually enjoying listening to the garden sucking up all that lovely rain! It helps that we don't have to go anywhere or do anything so sympathies to anybody whose day is disappearing down the plughole. Grace won't want a walkie, even with her rain coat on so I'm safe there. I will finally get on top of the laundry and ironing as I actually (unusually for me) have a really busy week ahead -Monday off at 7 am to the Churchill in Oxford for DH's CT scan then if we are back in time art History class starts again, Tuesday taking him to and from his Philosophy class , Wednesday a trip to Buckingham Palace and gardens and the Queen's "frocks " exhibition , Thursday DH's blood test then I am off to London again to see a matinee of Dr Faustus at the Barbican, Friday is DH's birthday and on Sunday we have a family lunch here.

Hello Daphne sorry you've been lonely. Just sit in the kitchen for a while and you know someone will drop in. No flapjacks I'm afraid but I have got some macaroons if you'd like one. Sounds like you've got a hectic week planned. Hope all the hospital trips go ok. We have one on Friday (unless they cancel like last time).

Charley took me a while to spot who wobblybits was too. I should have known from the name.

My long awaited rain came yesterday so thanks to all who helped.

I am so sorry that N&G would have to revert to plan B because of my selfishness. It is not easy having a BBQ in the living room. I hope that you had a super day and that the children and Sam behaved. Nana my birthday is also this month- great to be perfect is it not?!

What is happening re the house selling? Has your estate agent gone on holiday? You are paying him (or at least would be if he would sell the pesky place),enough for his retirement so I would not think twice about ringing him daily for updates and that way he will get so fed up with you that he will make an effort. Life is too easy for him. You do not want to be moving mid January. End of rant.

A pleasant day here, the washing machine is on- I must have a shower, wash my hair and go out to buy some food.

I do hope that soop and MacSporran have reached their destination and are enjoying the family get together.

Off to mind small grandchild until Tuesday morning, leaving Mr C to the dust and dust creators who are coming tomorrow rather than Tuesday as we had thought. Not complaining, better sooner than later. We seem to be so lucky so far, fingers remain firmly crossed. Soop will be back full of news of her family get together by the time I return, looking forward to hearing all about it.

I was wondering about your party N&G, hope it was a lot of fun. To my shame I had forgotten about your house sale, seems ages now. Hope the end of the holiday period will encourage people back into house viewing mode. Autumn is often very busy, so they tell me, certainly worked for us.

September is a lovely month for a birthday, enjoy yours when it comes charleygirl.

An absolutely gorgeous day here today in London. Friends of mine have come to London for a week's holiday but thankfully are not staying with me. We are meeting on Friday for lunch. Luckily the fellow who is a stubborn old bat listened to me and packed some short sleeved tops instead of coming dressed for January.

I have been washing clothes as always and have not long returned from a trip to a small Aldi. I still cannot work out how they manage to charge so little for most food. I would like to see less packaged fruit and vegetables,living on my own I would prefer to buy 2 pears rather than 8 in a pack.

OMG, have I done the right thing, just spent most of our savings on another car. Our existing one has failed on us four times this year and has a computer fault that no one can identify. Powers steering failed last month and yesterday it flagged another power steering fault, although it did not actually fail, but don't trust it anymore.

I share your pain WB, our car has a gear transmission problem which no-one can cure. So we bought a new car last week at an eye watering price. Our local garage offered us £2500 for our old one so my husband said at that price he would buy it himself!

WB you are so like a friend of mine who has just spent £16,000 on a second hand car which had more mileage than the one he traded in for £5,000 something. His driving days are limited- I do not want to mention age in case it identifies him. The traded in car was running well, he did not like it!

I can understand you buying another car because I am aware of the problems you have had. Hopefully the "new" car will be okay.

Tizliz hopefully you will be able to get rid of your old car and be able to put the money towards the new one.

Even the cheapest are not cheap in my book.

Mine is going for its annual service and MOT tomorrow- even if there is nothing wrong, the bill will be eye watering.

Ta dah...Hello my lovelies. I've so much catching up to do and by the end of the afternoon, I shall have read all the messages.

Before I begin, I would like to tell you that the weekend was filled with love and laughter and, if I could bottle it, I surely would. The family was, as always, a joy to spend time with. I'm bursting with energy and happiness.

I shall add three photos for now. More to follow. Then I shall go back to the last message that I posted and read all your news.

We arrived home to bad news. A friend who lives in the village, went into his greenhouse, where he died from a heart attack. His poor wife went looking for him. She had made him a cup of tea. I cannot think how awful the moment she discovered his body (he was clutching his chest) must have been. Because it was an "unexplained death" the body couldn't be removed until the police had looked into things. In the meantime, family members were contacted. Poor lady. She is numb with shock.

Oh soop what awful news. The poor wife. However does one deal with such a sudden shock? At least it was quick for her poor husband but leaves so many things left unsaid. Your poor friend. And a terrible shock for both of you too. I'm sure friends will rally round and be there for your friend.

These are lovely photos- I am assuming that MacSporran took them? I do miss seeing Torben's cheeky but friendly face. Do I detect a teeny amount of alcohol in the eyes?!!!!

That was horrid news to come home to and ten times worse for his wife. A good way to go for him but horrendous for her- the shock must be awful.

wobblybits That is the kind of celebration treat that would wow me. One of my sons took the blue train for his honeymoon. A marvellous experience. Take the ukulele. You can then serenade your dear wife with a rose between your teeth...so romantic.

charleyg Torben was unable to join us. His daddy will be making a separate trip together with him at a later date. We did see some terrific images of Torben riding a rally-style bike. He's very "sporty".
Rory was delighted to see us walk through the door. Within 20 mins he and Bracken were sharing a bowl of vet's special biscuits.

Nana&G I love the cake. Sam approves...bless him.

cornergran The wind and rain has been fierce. Sorry to hear that you've had problems. Thankfully, our weekend weather was ideal. Not a drop of rain...until the homebound bus neared Inverarary. It was tippling down when we arrived home.

WB if you serenade mrs.P she may well travel by other means of transport for a quiet life!

millymouge Very proud. Every member of the family is good and kind and caring.

Bellanonna Our friend and his wife have done a great deal to assist elderly folk in the village. I cannot believe that he's dead.

Charleyg MacSporran was the photographer. He had a lovely time. I'm glad that he didn't have to drive down into England. A few family fly, a few drove. Although the journey home was tedious, it was free. Aren't we lucky.

It would have been a nightmare to drive. I agree it was a tedious journey but you are home safe and sound with money in your pocket.

I saw MacSporran in one photo so at least somebody else took that one! A lovely family-I knew that Torben would not be there because you mentioned it ages ago.

I knew that Rory would give you a good welcome. Is Bracken moving in before winter?!!!!!
