Yes, apparently white dog poo was down to dogs eating lots of bones. I supposed the poo mind of ..calcifies?

Nowadays dogs don't eat bones so much and the poo is now collected up and placed in a bag.

As for white poo, I remember someone finding a white poo sitting at the bottom of our toilet at work once. There was someone who had pernicious anaemia and we reckoned it was hers ( is it not being able to absorb vitamin B?). Wonder if dogs used to suffer vitamin deficiencies and modern dogs'diets have improved things - if they were mainly fed on scraps in 'olden days'?!

The cry of "it's raining" from one housewife, and then all the neighbours would come out and take in their washing.

Where I live now we used to walk in the middle of the road with no fear of being run over because there was so little traffic. I wouldn't do it these days!
I'm so pleased to see that Aqua Manda is available again and Aqua Citra too. I wonder if they still smell the same as when Christopher Collins made them.

I'm horrified at most of the things people used to eat ( margarine and ice cream made from fish oil, sweets full of harmful colours etc) and the clothes (shrunken woolies, school socks with elastic garters etc)
No doubt in the future our children and grandchildren will be just as horrified recalling the way they were brought up.

Slates ans slate pencils . Cremola custard . Pasha cigarettes they were the most available ones after the war we kept the better ones under the counter in our shop for special customers . Vending machines for triangular packs of milk I remember them in London in the 60s.

watermeadow my DH smokes a pipe- disgusting habit I wish he would stop. Since I retired I have noticed that he smokes continuously all day , except when he's looking for the scraping out thingy ,looking for the lighter and refilling it . I hate it .

SusieB50, I always wished my husband would switch to a pipe from cigarettes, I think pipes smell wonderful!
GrannyGalactica, ypu brought back some memories there. I used to be a telephone operator, back in the days when we were employed by the good old GPO, and although our area, Rochdale, was automatic, I used to relieve out at some manual exchanges where there weren`t any dials, you just picked up and the operator was on the line.
When my kiddies were small, Cadbury`s used to make tiny little chocolate bars for 1d and 2d, ideal for littlies, and small enough for my grandma to hide in her pinny pocket when she came round, when I`d asked her not to stuff the baby with chocolate before her dinner!

I swear some of you must be old enough to be in the first series of Downton Abbey! I've never heard of a lot of things mentioned. Perhaps it also depends on what area of the country you come from.

Some fantastic memories here. Living on the North East coast there were occasions when the TV flickered and then we got a very hazy foreign programme. It was always put down to the way the wind was blowing. My mother bought bread and occasionally fancy pastries from a weekly bakers van. I can still remember her coming back in with something new in a bag that was on the van - a bag of potato crisps which we kids thought were out of this world.
