2 Golden Syrup tins,with punched holes and string handles.Stand on them,hold the strings and walk along.

Granny2016 we did that, but with National Dried Milk tins. My Mum was looking after her cousin's baby as the cousin was in a sanitarium for TB.

My Mum kept flour and sugar in National Dried Milk tins until they rusted away.

Still available: Camp coffee,pack a macs, rain mates, hair rollers, sweet shops, angel delight, milk bottles on doorstep, Brillo pads, syrup of figs, etc.

I remember the Esso Blue jingle. I also remember the poem Pam Ayres wrote, The Paraffin Man, which concludes "And they all went up to Heaven in a cloud of Esso Blue!" Probably already mentioned - Brylcreme, birch sap hair tonic (which my father swore would make his hair grow again - not!) and Carters Little Liver Pills!

National Savings stamps that you used to get from the Post Office and stick in a book. I think they were either sixpence or half a crown. Game hanging fully furred and feathered outside fishmongers shops. I think the EU put paid to that.

BBbevan....same with my aunt.Mum told me that she was in an iron lung ,which sounded quite scary.

I think the cousin was also*Granny2016*. When she was well she came to collect the baby. He was then 18 months old and had never known them. He called my Mum ' Mam* They took him away immediately and we never saw him again. How my parents coped I don't know

In about 1962 when I was 14 my mum and dad looked after the little daughter of a family member because her mum had TB. We all loved this adorable little girl and as a bonus for me I would take her to watch the local boys play cricket on the field at the back of my house. She probably wasn't at all interested but I was - not in the cricket, of course, but in the boys. When she finally went back to her mum I would still go out to the back field to be with the boys. Result!

We used to have a dolls' hospital near us. I wonder if there are still any around.
