I remember going to the co-op with my mum and seeing the money being put in canisters and whizzing over our heads to the cashier. She also had a co-op number which she used to rattle off every time she shopped there.

I also remember my mum buying me Hartnell in Love talk for my birthday in a pink container shaped like a heart.

We had the Corona man calling with fizzy drink and when the bread man came mum always got something called a Bun Round.

Silk underwear made from parachute silk, darned socks, little brooches of embroidered flowers on felt with a safety pin sewn on the back.

84067 was my mums co-op number...metal tins of biscuits ,sugar in blue bags Woodbines sold in paper packs of 5 (or singles) ,sawdust on the butchers floor,and queuing up once a year on Divi Day.

If we were seen hatless anywhere between school and home, we were given a "hat detention". A day spent wearing the wretched thing in school.

You can still get Caramac in lots of shops. I think it was relaunched some years ago. I wish they'd relaunch Old Jamaica and Aztec bars too.

I didn't know what Kunzle cakes were, so I Googled them. Now I remember licking out the middle - what a treat!

Manual typewriters, carbon paper, Gestetner dublicating paper, and the bottles of pink correction stuff. You can tell, I was a secretary in the seventies.

Sally Army marching down the street on a Sunday morning ...my dad bringing home the War Cry on a Saturday night .....the shrimp man on a Sunday afternoon (meant shrimps and bread and butter for tea !) ...plus a jelly which had been made on Sat morning and left to set on the marble mantelpiece ! in summer, the Stop me and Buy One man from whom we bought a '1/6d block of ice cream (only vanilla, I seem to remember !)...feeding the milkmans horse with crusts of bread ...and trying to entice the cat from under the cart .....

Although it was only the 50's, there was much more SERVICE available !

Evening in Paris?

Was going to say Aqua Manda perfume but having just Googled it, apparently it has been revived and is available online. Wonder if it still smells the same. It was the height of sophistication in the 60's and 70's!

Elysium....Bunty every Tuesday.I once had my clothes designs printed on the back page with the Bunty cut out doll.

Bright blue ice lollies from the icecream man and the different colours/flavours of sherbet in a plastic tube. My dad bought me those.

My horribly surgical knee socks for swollen ankles look just like lisle. I call them my Nora Battys. Marathon Bars - somehow I am put off by the name Snickers. I used to use Polyclens paint brush cleaner as a spot dry cleaning fluid after it got a best buy for spot cleaning in Which. Last time I tried to get some from Homebase they had never heard of it. A bottle did last a long long time and even removed beach tar when nothing else did.

A horse-drawn icecream van. Rag and bone men who would give us colouring books when my Mum gave them stuff we were throwing out. A dessert-type stuff in a can called 'Sweetheart' - it was syrupy with strawberries in and you just mixed it with milk...mmmmm!
