Tea drinking habits

Do like the occasional earl grey tea - in a nice China cup or mug though.
Am more coffee drinker after getting a Ducle Gusto machine - but they've brought out some lovely different tea pods so have been trying them ☺️

YES I always leave a little tea in the bottom of my cup - and even though we use tea bags these days, I still think that some of the tea sinks to the bottom and tastes horrible. Other half thinks it is a 'snob' thing for some reason.

I have no idea what i do. Does anyone think that those metal wot sits to put leaf tea in and then into your cup make even the nicest of tea taste metallic?

I usually slurp the lot quickly, as I hate a hot drink to go cold!

P.S. I am totally into redbush(roobuish?) teabags now...

I always leave a little - I remember asking my mother why we did that but she couldn't really say.

Don't remember being told to leave tea in the cup. I drink the lot!!
What really annoys me is if the cup is only "1/2 full", i.e. with about 2" left at the top. I like a full cup.

I always leave a little tea in the bottom, as well. I drink mine black so can see any dregs floating about. I empty my coffee cup, though.

I vividly recall once being told off by my father, who never disciplined us. I was probably about 8yo and we were in a tea shop in Folkestone. I was practically scouring out the ice cream dish with my spoon and Dad told me to stop it at once because I'd had an ample sufficiency.

I always leave a drop at the bottom of my mug/cup - don't know why all I do know is that it really annoys DH and he refers to them my "slops" ! Don't intend to change my ways now though, far too old in the tooth!

I have a mesh strainer original intended to go in the coffee pot to hold the coffee which I also use for leaf tea which I find better than tea bags. I have a water filter jug as the mains water here tastes of chlorin

I'm quite please to learn that I'm not alone in this habit. My kids think it's weird but I can't stop myself doing it, even though I drink mainly coffee. I think it does go back to getting a mouthful of tea leaves when I was little - makes me cringe to think about it. Horrid.

We don't use tea bags however we don't have the 'dust' problem either. I have noticed though that some tea strainers are not as fine as others. If I'm using cheaper teas I use a finer tea strainer - sometimes even the plastic mesh one for 'kitchen' teas.
I do have some delicious 'special' teas, which are treats - and they tend to have much larger leaves.
No one in my family (to my knowledge) has ever deliberately left tea in the cup - but my grandmother did leave me her tea set when she died, which included a massive, matching, china slops bowl!

I always leave some in the bottom, same with coffee.

The world is exploding and we are discussing how much tea we leave! For the record I gave horrible habit of leaving my teabag in the mug so there is always tea left!

My other half always leaves a bit of tea in bottom of his mug to. I gave up tea few years ago as a GP thought it might stop me getting so many urine infections as it had worked for her. I'm pleased to say t has worked and no more urine infections since. Do miss a good cuppa though.

Can you drink coffee Jasper? I'd hate to have to give up tea .

I'm trying to lose a bit of weight and instead of a cuppa or two during the day, always accompanied by biscuits or cake, I've taken to treating myself to iced caffe latte from the supermarket. One of those (so lovely) and I don't feel like lunch and just have a bit of fruit in the afternoon. Working so far and hopefully not too unhealthy.

I have kind of gone off tea just now anyway due to sinusitis affecting my tastebuds.

Whatever the size of teacup or mug, my husband always leaves half of it, usually on the floor where I trip over it! That's much more annoying than half an inch in the bottom. (He's being doing it for over 45 years so you think I would be used to it by now!)
