Bloomin skybox has died on me. Heaven knows how much the replacement will be or when they can come and fit it?

TriciaF Mon 11-Jul-16 14:29:05

thatbags grin - that has happened to me so many times, now I just replace the plant quickly and leave it until later.
Today we're recovering from a mighty thunderstorm during the night flashes on lightening for hours, then several overhead crashes as if the roof had fallen in, then torrential rain. Our border collie came upstairs and slept by our bed - she hates storms. Warm and muggy today, but no storm damage TG.

NanaandGrampy Mon 11-Jul-16 15:28:06

Afternoon all.

Power has been restored ! We took ourselves off for a nice lunch whilst we waited .

Ha !!! so * Daphne* no use putting your hands over your ears ...its magnums all round but its ok. They are calorie free as they are only minis and once you cram in the ice-cream there's no space for calories !!

I feel for your DD Daphne. One of my daughters handled breastfeeding well but the youngest didn't even start. I salute her in the face of all the pressure , breast might be best but it wasn't best for her , and I do think that should be in the equation. She like your DD needs her sleep so with both boys being bottle fed, I did a number of night shifts to get them in a routine and their mum some sleep.

I used to enjoy my midnight chat with the little guys when the rest of the world was asleep .

I hope she doesn't get too exhausted. Its tough enough being a new mum, luckily she has you to support which is vital I think.

That's made me laugh out loud bags !!

well time to get back to the cleaning for the photos for the brochure for the move.... sighs.... I hate housework !!

soop Mon 11-Jul-16 15:43:45

TriciaF It is uncomfortably muggy. I finished a few jobs and feel weary and wrung out. It could be medication that's making me feel nauseous.

MacS has an appointment with the doctor. The tree surgeon has arrived and is dealing with our neighbours enormous chestnut. Our neighbour's cousin has given us permission to have it dealt with. It blocks out light and the branches are touching our wall.

NanaandGrampy I enjoyed reading your post. I'm afraid that I must scoot. Feeling awfully sick.

Nelliemoser Mon 11-Jul-16 15:50:53

Is it ever going to stop raining this week? I really want too get some gardening done.

I am suffering today from chasing my 3yr old DGS1 around our garden when they stopped over on their way to soggy west wales. My back is complaining big time. I can walk quite briskly normally but running and chasing a 3yr old while playing at being a tickle monster is a bit too energetic by half. I normally try to avoid high impact exercise I should have know better.

cornergran Mon 11-Jul-16 16:40:30

Oh dear, soop, hope you are OK. Its not like you to make an useemly exit. Medication can be a real problem, we need to take it but the side effects can be horrid. I wonder if a chat with the GP could be good? Be good to get the light back into your garden, trees are beautiful but sometimes need some adjustment. I too feel for your daughter daphne, young Flynn is obviously a baby of character and knows what he wants, its just a shame his needs and his Mum's aren't the same. Its odd, back in the day (42 years, blimey where did that go?) we had the same advice about our first baby, just give him a bottle and get some sleep. I think that advice is very rare now. Its good she has you to look after her while she cares for Flynn, hope your DH settles into having the young visitor. The clouds have gone here and we have a bright day although it is blowing a gale. Two of the DGC are here for tea, currently painting so need to negotiate a different use for the table. Just hoping their advance food orders still meet with approval or I could be in serious trouble. grin Oh well, thats me for today, best attend to my chef duties.

NanaandGrampy Mon 11-Jul-16 17:31:57

Oh no soop !! Get well soon. Don't worry about us lot, we'll just have some cake till you feel better.

I know what you mean corner , my eldest daughter was horrified when I suggested a bottle would be fine , in getting some good sleep. Times change eh? Hope dinner was as ordered wink .

Sounds like the tickle monster was a huge success Nellie !, hope your back recovers quickly .

Only arrived at Warners a couple of hours ago and we have already booked again for February. SKIing again.

soop Mon 11-Jul-16 17:46:21

Just popping in to say bye for now. Something's up in the general area of my gut. I'm not good company at the moment.

I leave ^you lot* to look after each other. Tomorrow is another day. I shall feel very much better by then.

By the by, I'm pleased that we shall have a lady Prime Minister by Wednesday evening. Something to smile about.

smile moon

cornergran Mon 11-Jul-16 18:29:50

Take care of yourself soop. Hope the morning sees you so much more comfortable.

annodomini Mon 11-Jul-16 19:17:35

soop, I hope you feel better soon. Sounds nasty. Have you got something for it? Not quite sure I agree with you about our new PM just because she's female! But this is not a political thread, thank goodness.

phoenix Mon 11-Jul-16 21:16:22

Charleygirl , have PM'd you.

annsixty Mon 11-Jul-16 21:20:57

Take care soop you need to be well. I have had some good news tonight, the scans I have had on my eye were very encouraging and the fluid has started drying up. I didn't have an injection for the first time in a year and I don't go for more scans for 6 weeks, knee permitting.

numberplease Mon 11-Jul-16 21:28:18

That`s good news Annsixty, nice to hear good news for a change.
Soop, I hope that you`re feeling better by the morning, hate to think of you feeling poorly.
Today I had a surprise phone call. It said International on the screen, and I nearly hung up. Good job I didn`t, it was an old school friend (we left school in 1959), I haven`t seen her since 1964, and she`s been in Australia since `65. We lost touch for a while, then for the last few years we`ve emailed each other just now and then, but today she rang me, and we nattered for an hour and a half, till I had to end it because hubby wanted his dinner, but she`s going to ring again.

annsixty Mon 11-Jul-16 21:47:02

Could a trip to Oz be on the cards number?

numberplease Tue 12-Jul-16 00:25:02

I wish Ann! Out of my league pricewise I`m afraid.

kittylester Tue 12-Jul-16 07:13:33

Good morning all! I hope you are feeling better this morning, soop.

And, I hope that Flynn has had a good night. I bottlefed all mine as did my daughters but it is quite a brave thing to so in the face of all the disapproval. Sometimes a pragmatic attitude is best.

Housemoving is a nightmare isn't it N&g? All that keeping tidy and shining taps etc.

I wonder how Lona is?

Ann what great news - one less thing to worry about. And, I think it's your birthday today - if so, many happy returns. Enjoy your handbag. cupcakewine

NanaandGrampy Tue 12-Jul-16 07:46:55

Good Morning all !

Back into the routine today !

First of all , great news Ann and a very Happy Birthday. I hope you have treated yourself to some real cake but if not I am off to pick up a cake from a wonderful baker nearby for a raffle, so am happy to pick you up a virtual one too. What's your preference? I've added a couple of pictures....anything take your fancy?

I'm hoping for a Flynn picture this morning - that should cheer us all up.

Soop hope you're feeling MUCH better !!

You're right Kitty but in this case its GETTING to the tidy place smile We're having pictures done in just over a week so lots of things need putting away and reminiscent of Bags post every time I open something to put something away it needs tidying !!

I wonder how Lona is too. But I'm sure she's just offline till her internet gets back up and running.

What a lovely surprise Number and that you had so much to catch up on.

I am being Nana's taxi this morning with several errands to run with my daughter, then we have DGS4 for a couple of hours. Its his turn. He doesn't know that of course but we have to keep it 'fair'! So we are taking him out to do his two favourite things, softplay and eat!!

Hope everyone has something nice planned into their day !

annsixty Tue 12-Jul-16 08:09:39

The swirly pansy one please, and thank you all for good wishes. GD is coming to eat with us tonight and staying over, and her mum ( ex DiL) is taking me out for afternoon tea ( with prossecco) on Thursday.

Lona Tue 12-Jul-16 08:22:35

Hello everyone! Sorry I've been AWOL but I've been wandering around in circles! Thank you all for the good wishes, I wish you could all have visited the balcony to help with the boxes! to share some bubbly!
The move went well despite torrential rain and I'm loving being here. It feels like home already.
I've only skimmed all the chat so I hope I haven't missed too much gossip wink
I did manage to collapse on the sofa and see Andy win magnificently though, but I'm shocked at all the Magnums being consumed! What's happened to wine?
Sorry to hear that you are not feeling too well soop and I hope things settle quickly xx
Daphne well done for your intrepid driving cupcake
Hope everyone else is ok, I'll be glad to get my broadband sorted so that I can sit down more!
Must go now though, love to you all. sunshine

Bellanonna Tue 12-Jul-16 08:24:08

Many Happy Refurns ann. Have a lovely meal tonight. Good news about your eye.

Lona Tue 12-Jul-16 10:32:39

Missed your eye news ann , great! Happy birthday too, hope you have a lovely time ????

cornergran Tue 12-Jul-16 11:09:08

Happy Birthday ann, that's a wonderful cake you picked. Good news about your eye too. Is the handbag having an outing today? Pleased you are happy lona, moving is a major hassle but lovely that your new home feels like home already. I so remember the tidy issues n&g. I suspect though that your agent will be more than pleased, we worried so much about ours to be told that it was 'immaculate'. Was he blind? Didn't he see the scuff marks, the not so tidy bits and the wobbly door? In any case, whatever he said to prospective buyers worked a treat. I'm sure it will be the same for you and your home will look lovely in the photos and feel welcoming to those lucky enough to view it. Have fun at soft play, I admire your fairness approach, we're having to work hard at it as the older ones are so busy while the baby is very available. How lovely to have that contact number, I often wonder about a friend who was a bridesmaid and seemed to vanish, would love to have contact with her again. Hope today sees you very much more comfortable soop, if not hope you will talk to your GP. The sun is shining here (shh, mustn't scare it away) and showing all the dust so best get on with cleaning. Wishing you all sunshine.

dustyangel Tue 12-Jul-16 12:29:28

Happy Birthday Ann I hope you have your elegant handbag out so that you can admire it today and I hope that this year is better for you for both health and home flowers

What a lovely idea NanaandG. Those cakes are so pretty, I'm glad Ann chose that one, we might get a slice later.

I hope you are feeling better today soop, if it's caused by the antibiotic are nearly finished now?
Yes, apparently wild boar are mostly nocturnal. Although the people who have seen them on our land have done so in broad day light and then they run away as quickly as possible.

Charleygirl Tue 12-Jul-16 12:44:33

NanaandGrampy I prefer the 3rd cake but one slice (large) would suffice please.

ann60 happy birthday and very good news about your eyes.

soop I do hope that you feel better today.

Lona at least there is no rush to get the flat into some semblance of order- provided you can manage that is all that matters. It is not as though you are rushing out to work any more.

We should be round en masse to view the flat and make sure that it is the place for you.

Daphne I hope that young fellow who looks as though butter would not melt in his mouth, has not taken over the house completely.
