Heather was over the moon- what a good day for British tennis.

A friend rang just as the football was about to start- ah well I cannot have everything.

I am hogging the computer chair her favourite, so Tara has taken to my bed for shuteye.

I must be mad, I had washed and was hanging net curtains at 9pm. I still carry on as though I am working and I have been retired since 2002.

Such a pity that babies can be so noisy because that little mite looks so gorgeous I could take him home (at least until he wanted his next meal). Tara would not be too impressed.

I do hope that your daughter is getting much needed rest.

Tennis? Has there been tennis on the tv?????

I have a month to catch up with boring chores before the Olympics start at Rio. Today is too changeable so I will not be fence and shed painting.

I could of course sort out the paperwork taking over this house.

Tara cannot make up her mind whether she wants to go out or not. Admittedly the doorman is on permanent leave so that does make a difference- one cannot expect her to clamber through the new cat flap.

No tennis, no football. I have this vision of little pale people emerging from their houses blinking at the sunlight. However, not long to Rio. I shall be one of the blinking people when that ends!

Littlest fella likes to have a little suckle, nod off, but wakes up if she attempts to move him, back on the boob, little suck, little nap...
She is one of those girls who does not function well on minimal sleep and has been like that since childhood, so motherhood is proving hard!!
I am providing room service of tea/toast/water /laundry services but wish I could do more.
In the meantime DH has fortunately perked up a little after a day of complete helplessness yesterday.
Ah well ?

millymouge - what sunlight? This morning it looks like February. Raindrops on the window, the trees swaying in the wind. I have wistful visions of a scorching hot beach and a blue ocean, gently swishing casuarina trees for shade and a long glass of something ice-cold. At least I can say I've been there, but what I'd give to be back there!
Oh well, bring on Rio!

When my GS1 was like that and very fretful( they lived abroad and she came to us to have the baby as health care was not good were they lived) our GP said for goodness sake give him a bottle. She did and he never looked back. She successfully fed the second for 8/9 months.

It is muggy but not raining here yet. I must venture out because I do not think that £15 will last me very long, No doubt prices have risen since I took to my armchair at the start of the tennis and football. Still, Rio starts in 4 weeks. At least I am saving money.

G&T and anno Yesterdays results made up for a variety of disappointments. I'm still smiling. No harm in that.

My youngest son is 42 today. His elder brother will be 55 tomorrow. I would love to be able to pop in for an hour but the distances are too great. The September gathering in Glasgow, will be our annual treat.

millymouge and anno, you can have some of my sunshine if you like. I'm not complaining and it is beautiful to look at but 37° is just too much. I'm feeling absolutly k******d today.
I suppose it could have been all the sport I watched yesterday, I not really sporty (apart from the Tour de Farance) but other people's enthusiasm combined with finals can make me really enjoy it. Started with the Grand Prix (reluctantly) and finished with the Portuguese winning the Euro final.

Number I don't know if you speak any French but a lot of older Portuguese people do, you might be able to chat to your new neighbour.

Bella I hadn't thought of dogs, we don't often have strays near us but 'next doors' little dogs sometimes play outside at night in this hot weather. The mother started as a stray who managed to move in with them,when she had a litter of pups they kept one and thank goodness had her neutered as well.
We thought the trees might be down to wild boar,although I've never seen any we know they live near and all the young shoots were eaten as well.

DaphneB The early weeks are stressful for a new Mum. I know that I cried on several occasions when one of my sons behaved in a similar fashion to Flynn. In fact, on one occasion, I was so anxious (that I'd missed a feed) that I sleep walked. It all passes. Better days to come.
Thank goodness your daughter has you to give her the bonus of additional support.

millymouge Here in Kintyre it is grey, damp and blowy. I have a few jobs to catch up with...having spent an entertaining fortnight shouting words of encouragement to my favourite tennis players. All good things come to an end. It has been great fun.

Charleyg Rory sits by the inner hall glass door until it's opened for him. Then...he sits the other side of the same door, stares, and makes pathetic whinging noises, until I open it so that he can come back in.

dustya I caught the final 10 minutes of the soccer final. I wondered what was going on. Both teams knocked the ball around as if they wanted a penalty shoot out.

This morning moving a plant
led to its place by the window needing cleaned
which led to the window needing washed on the inside
which led to its needing washed on the outside
which led to my needing to put my wellies on
to collect a ladder from up by the archery target boss
which led to my needing a tool
for getting old leaves and spider silk out of a crack
as part of the window cleaning process.
The plant also needed propping up cos it had got top heavy
which led to my needing some sticks and string
and then I decided to prune the plant too.
So the vacuum cleaner is still sitting around waiting to do the floor
which was the original idea.

bags Love it.

If I wish to appear busy, leaving the vacuum cleaner out, together with a duster, makes me feel a whole lot better.

bags my style of housework. Probably explains why it's intermittent.

I agree about the football.i don't think I've ever seen so many fouls, from both sides, in my life. I wish they would really clamp down on it.
Did you watch the mixed doubles? I think DH has developed a bit of a crush on Heather Watson. She played so well and certainly has an infectious smile.

Daphne I feel for your daughter.i can remember one occasion when I realised as DS finally slept that there was only 10 minutes before the alarm went off and I had get up for an appointment. I went into a deep sleep for those 10 minutes.

dustya Do the boar come out after dark? I'd love to see one.
Some footballers are not as gentleman-like as in the days of Stanley Mathews. I dislike the way they spit on the pitch. Pushing and shoving, falling down and fussing. Give me rugby any day.
Heather is a very charming girl. She and her partner deserved to win.
Milos has an infectious smile. He has an attractive personality. His 146 mph serve wasn't too shabby either.

The ironing board has been out for at least two hours. The washing machine completed the cycle mid-morning.
I'm reluctant to shift from the computer. I blame the weather. However, needs must.

My washing machine is having a day off today, mainly because I thought that it was going to rain.

Rory is so like Tara, why do anything for oneself if there is a 2 legged idiot who will rush to help?
