Good Morning Everyone,
Its dark and wet outside here in Brackley at the moment.
Today I will g into Bicester earlier , have a coffee and maybe a Breakfast as the bakery cafe I go to as started to do them for a couple of hours in the mornings.
Maybe a beer after in Spoons which do not seem as busy these days , followed by a shop and maybe a chat with people I know.
Health OK ,
Take Care,
Mick

Good morning from Bristol. Dark and wet here too, Mick, and the temperature is 13C moving up and down by 1C all day!
Yesterday went oddly. The vampires got my blood no trouble, but were unusually late. Fortunately it didn’t throw my plans too much.
Bus to Cabot Circus. The stops have changes as the council, in their (car driving) wisdom, have decided to make it a traffic free area! So the stop was pretty far from the shops. Did my shopping, after lunch at my favourite Methodist cafe. I bought fabric to make a winter skirt - got a large discount as there were cuts along the selvedges; cost me £7!
Then came the palaver of finding the return bus stop. I ended up walking the better part of 1/2 mile, only to find that not only were my next two buses cancelled, but the other possible bus terminated there! So I got a different bus and changed halfway. Curiously, I met a Spanish colleague on the second bus and when she got off, a neighbour got on!
To my intense pleasure, all the scaffolding round my little block has come off. This means that I don’t risk walking into a pole each time I go in or out of the flat. 👏 Yippee!
It was after 4 when I got home, so read my unputdownable book and watched tv.
The library book is an Icelandic murder mystery, utterly gripping and very well translated, once you get the hang of the protagonists’ names. The places are unimportant.
Today, I must go to the library and pick up a book I ordered, do a spot of shopping at Waitrose and probably some baking for tomorrow or Saturday’s fete thing…
I hope that you have a good day, that the mountaineers find an easy way down, that all is well with you all…

Good morning from Herefordshire. I can hear the wind but I think it is going to be a mild 13 degrees today.

Yesterday was a lot of fun as I spent ages sauntering round a garden centre with my Pilates friend. It was so lovely to see some traditional Christmas cards for sale. I resisted buying, for now.

Today, there is nothing in my calendar so I expect I will go for a short walk around town to take in the autumnal air then spend the afternoon reading and eating home-made fruit cake.

Happy Tuesday all.

Good morning Michael and all GN's on another dark and chilly start to the day in North Yorkshire. Very poor night so am quite glad to be up and hope things can only improve. I feel hungry but am trying to put off eating anything for a little longer, as I dont usually eat before at the earliest 6am. I do not want to become used to eating earlier or that will be another thing to wake me up!!

Ah well had a mixed day yesterday. Still struggling physically, with a lot of pain and worse than usual for trying to bend or reach for things. Very frustrating as there were plenty of things I wanted to do but couldnt. However there were some success in other quarters as I gathered together all the information and bits and pieces and after going through lots of possibilities I got my car insurance done and dusted, and am satisfied that I got the best deal I could. I have left the files out, so that today, if I am inspired to do it, I can have a checking time, making sure that I have renewal dates noted on the calendar, that really old paperwork is shredded and got rid of - I am of the old school and whatever they say about just having it on line , I like a paper copy. If there is any hassle or need to check something I have the document here and do not need to just take their word for granted. Also , if I am suspicious that a firm may have slightly changed their conditions and hope that you wont notice that you are getting less in some way, I can check with last years document . I do feel that there should be a law that says that any change to contracts should have to be highlighted in documents, without you having to be a detective. If they are not ashamed or trying to con you , why would they not make it obvious? Anyway am pleased that one task got sorted.

The rain forecast certainly came down here, but simply ranged from drizzle to heavy showers for most of the day. I needed to go down the town and it was not a yellow peril day, besides I was really struggling to walk about so in the car. I had a couple of things to do, including collecting my new trousers from Seasalt, and going to Tesco. As I was in the car, I decided to make the most of it there, by getting the usual shopping but also a couple of the sets of sparkling water, some cider and a large milk and the special offer of 1kg Shreddies. That combination is just about heavy weight or awkward to carry. So I had to get some help with the water and the cider was up on the top shelf of course, which I couldnt reach, but managed to get all this heavy stuff together, and after paying for it, got a member of staff to get me a trolley to transfer everything to to take to the car. I was grateful for his help, and he loaded it all into the boot for me.That allowed me to just take a couple of frozen things and the milk in at first and then went out with other bag to lighten the load from the big shopping bag and so slowly got everything inside but felt shattered and had to make a coffee and rest before getting it all put away. Felt rather down at acknowledging how hard that trip had been and what an effort it had taken to get through it all despite some help.

I did very little after that but cheered up with the quiz night things and did quite well on most of the Only Connect questions , and then went to bed early to read for a while and get comfortable.Today still struggling and a lot of pain, so it will be see what I can manage and think that it will be getting some ironing done at the top of the agenda, but I have no goal other than to feel more comfortable and to look at the classes for u3a.

I hope you have a pleasant breakfast Mick and meet some friends. Has all your cycling finished now and what have you got to replace it? Still pitch black and cold outside and I need to make some coffee and some cereal and then start to get the ironing stuff together. I will come back to read news and views a bit later. Wishing you all a good day

Good morning, soggy start to Tuesday here on the hillside in south Glos.
DS and family are coming for a couple of days so yesterday was spent sorting beds etc and baking banana bread. I was really tired by lunchtime, the afternoon was a struggle to anything 🙄
A few bits to before they arrive this morning, so looking forward to seeing them again.
My sister threw a strop at me changing our plans to meet for coffee today (DS only let me know that they were coming at the last minute, nothing unusual) and then, after agreeing, decided that meeting Friday wasn’t good enough so 🤷🏼‍♀️. I can’t be bothered with her petulance, life’s too short for that.
I can’t believe how many rosebuds I have on my rose bushes. I have had the occasional roses at Christmas before but this year it is every bush. Unfortunately some of them don’t like heavy rain but it’s uplifting seeing them.
I hope today goes well for you all, hugs to those struggling x

Good morning, Michael and all GNs from South Yorkshire where it is dark and appears to be damp at the moment. Yesterday, though calmer, it never stopped raining so I was housebound. I toiled my way through the ironing, made a banana and walnut tea bread (snap R&L!) and reworked the essay I had written. Supper was a cheese omelette.

The plan today is to take the bus into town (the tram is still not running from here - they are still scratching their heads about the mysterious hole in the road!!) and have a look at our bigger M&S. We have a local one but it doesn’t stock all the lines. Then Waterstones and possibly a visit to our only remaining department store. DD texted me yesterday to say that she might meet me in town for a coffee during her lunch hour. I think it’s weather dependent, though - it’s a fair walk from the university.

Have the best day you can folks.

Good morning from Cornwall where it was fresh and rainy when I looked out at my patio an hour ago. Had fun at my new sewing group yesterday where someone presented me with half a leather waistcoat 😃 and another person some lovely flat porcelain beads; they've got the measure of me already. I've met a lady there who I can tell is going to be a close friend, such a treat to find someone quirky. We'll be meeting for coffee in the town where she lives, just a bus ride away.

Today it's an Arts Society coffee get-together at a beautiful garden café. Oh, the joy of retirement - I'm still revelling in this freedom years later after a lifetime of work. After the meet-up I'll walk to the beach and breathe the lovely fresh air, then back home to keep sorting my windswept and rather battered-looking patio.

karmalady Tue 27-Oct-26 06:25:28

Good morning from s somerset, heavy rain woke me too early but I think we might see some brighter skies today

It took me ages to get my first batch of ready meals finished, all that chopping for a plant-based recipe. The cottage pie topping was lovely, a bit like colcannon and I did 8 meals. While I was at it, I did bake hasselback courgettes, they are now in the fridge and soaking up the harissa dressing, I will start eating them today

I am in process of changing banks and am very pleased at how it is progressing. I am off to Nationwide, which has a branch in either direction from here, by bus. Everything with them is so clear and easy

Today, just a hair cut for me and then I can get back to my knitting, I had to frog dozens of rows yesterday just because one of the markers had dropped off

Grandmabatty Tue 27-Oct-26 06:25:34

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 11° and damp.
Yesterday the boys were on good form and we had a very chilled start to the day. No dramas! I came home after depositing them at school and made a chicken stew and egg muffins. In the afternoon, I went back to school and tidied the school library and put out the Halloween display then picked up tge boys. Then, to my dismay, I found i had a parking ticket. My back wheels were on a yellow line. I'm very annoyed at myself as it's totally my fault. The boys played well at my house before being collected by parents later.
Today they will come to my house for breakfast then I will take them to school. After that, a trip to tesco for some veg and milk. Then home to do little until I go to pick them up again. Have a good day all.

Good morning from a dark Torbay following a stormy night. Yes, we’re safely home.

Thank you for all your kind wishes for our journey. En route to the port on Sunday afternoon, we received a text from BF to say that our ship, Mont St Michel, would be late arriving into port due to the stormy weather so we could expect to be two hours late in departing. It emerged that the ship was struggling to dock at Ouistreham due to the strong winds. The crossing was “interesting” especially for those of us who don’t walk well at the best of times! After a night at Travelodge, we drove home on very busy roads in squally showers.

I’ve banked with Nationwide for many years and am very happy with the service they offer, karmalady.

Wishing everyone a good day.
TIB beckons! ☕️😉👍

May I join you in saying “Good morning”?
Very high winds here in Fife with quite a few trees down. The lovely oak at the bottom of my garden is waving about, flinging its golden leaves and weaker twigs onto the grass. I bought this as a tiny sapling when we moved into this little cottage 35 years ago. Now it’s standing high and proud. I hope it still standing after more forecasted gales today.
Keep cosy, everyone.

Good morning from a still dark and breezy N Surrey. It doesn't feel too cold and hopefully we won't have all day drizzle like yesterday. I have some washing which needs to have a blow about.

karmalady DH and I changed to Nationwide about 4 years ago as both Santander and Nat West closed our local branches. Nationwide have guaranteed keeping their branch, which is literally round the corner, open till 2028. They have been very helpful now it is just me.
In the spring they make a bonus payment of 100.00 under their Fare share scheme..I think it is called that. But you have to fulfil certain conditions in a certain time frame which we were not aware of.
So karmalady ask about the conditions. You may fulfil them anyway without making any changes. We didnt as the Nationwide account is the less busy account. Santander is the busy account. So we missed out on the bonus the first year which would have been 100.00 each. I know its not a massive amount, but it was annoying to just miss it without knowing why.

I had a busy day yesterday despite the rain, today is an indoors day apart from a quick shop. I like alternate days. I then appreciate both. I am lucky to live in a town so getting out for a quick walk, shop or for a browse is no effort. Just coat on and go. I envy marzipan and her proximity to a beach. That is my dream. And a beach to walk to, not a drive away with then the parking problems.

Have as good a day as possible everyone.

Grandmabatty Tue 27-Oct-26 06:47:39

Effiecat a very good morning to you in The Kingdom!

GrannyGravy13 Tue 27-Oct-26 06:48:40

Good morning it’s currently 16° meant to drop to 15° windsurfing and raining for most of the day.

I picked up a bug from the GC, have been sleeping a lot since Saturday, hopefully on the mend, unfortunately I am behind with all the morning news 🙋‍♀️

Good morning everyone from a bright and sunny Croatia, just approaching our berth in Zadar, a northern city.

A lovely day in Split yesterday with a walking tour of the old city which is mostly built on and around the remains of the Roman Emperor Diocletian's palace.

Returned to the ship in the afternoon for a rest after walking miles (!) and found another book to read on my Kindle.

The evening's entertainment was provided by a local women's choir with a wide selection of Croatian music ranging from pop to liturgical; they were excellent. They had quite a different sound from a similar British choir.

Am on a coach tour today of the surrounding area.

Wishing all a pleasant Tuesday

Good morning from a windy Kent. Spent a long time yesterday afternoon getting a new pair of glasses, something I do t like doing along with buying shoes. After trying on half a dozen new frames the fitter found a pair which actually fitted, I have a small face apparently. I felt exhausted by the end of it all and ended up driving home at dusk.
Today DD2 and only remaining teenage GS are coming over and we shall go to a local cafe for lunch. I am thinking of getting him to put the Christmas tree upstairs so I don’t have to
Best wishes

Good morning everyone from south Manchester where it’s very mild at 12°C and dry (surprisingly). Showers are forecast but I’m not going far today.

Meeting the Boy Wonder (can hear how Iceland school trip went last week), L’il Miss and their mum for brunch downstairs in the Loungers bar. My daughter has said she’ll pick grandpa up if he wants to join but I suspect after a long morning at the eye clinic yesterday he’ll not bother, but as she said last night it’s nice to ask and have him feel included in the half term plan.

Gelisa Tue 27-Oct-26 07:10:19

Good morning from a dry but very breezy Morecambe Bay. Storm Chloe is thought to hit our area later but the actual forecast doesn’t look too bad. Not a lot happening here at the moment. DH managed to finish the new feet for our electric piano having given them a second coat of dark oak varnish.
Today I have a new cordless mower to collect. I’ve treated myself with my nectar points. There’s not a lot wrong with the one I’ve got other than I don’t like it! It’s heavy and protests if the grass gets too long for its liking. My previous one of fifteen or so years ago was much better but when the battery failed I couldn’t find a replacement so bought a cheaper make of mower. I’ve put up with it for about seven years but enough is enough! I’ve bought the previous make so hope it’s as pleasant to use as my original one.
Take care everyone 🌸

Good morning everyone from our last morning in Anglesey before we head home later today.

Congratulations to all those who have had family weddings. A small wedding that's about cementing a couple's commitment to each other legally sounds great. A friend's brother and long term partner did it in March this year. All arranged in a few weeks and no stress about colours of bridesmaid dresses etc.

That's a good way to deal with your sister, RosesandLilac, especially as you're still recovering from your operation. I suppose it's a compliment that she's disappointed but she should realise that these things happen. We've still got rosebuds too and flowers on the fushia bush.

Yesterday's trip to Fron Goch was very nice. I got a few bits and pieces to put away for Christmas. Sadly no bellis. One of the staff said they hadn't been able to get any so maybe the hot summer wasn't good for producing the plants as I haven't found any at home either.

Marydoll, I went to Matalan in Bangor and found a Hallow'een outfit for the little chap so thank you for that tip.

Wishing everyone the best day possible, especially those with health woes. 🌻

Good morning from still blowy South Lanarkshire.

Our change of childminding day went well yesterday although as one of them has a swimming lesson in the evening it means we weren’t home till nine o’clock and this will be the case every week now.

I don’t have plans for today but may make a pot of lentil soup as I feel as though we’ve been plunged into winter and need easy, nourishment food.

Wishing everyone the best day possible.

Marydoll Tue 27-Oct-26 07:18:00

Guess where I am??

NannyJan53 Tue 27-Oct-26 07:20:23

Good morning from a very mild and dry Black Country, after a horrible rainy drive on the motorway from Somerset yesterday.

Today I am over to Mums, food shopping for her and put washing machine on. The Lidl near to her is closed after the horrendous incident when a car went into the shop, killing a man and injuring many! Such a terrible and sad incident. So I will go to the Lidl here first.

I too switch to Nationwide last December, the move was brilliant, I didn't have to do a thing except for giving a date. Nationwide informed everyone, who make a payment to me, and all my direct debits etc. I did receive £175 for joining and the £100 fare share.

A big welcome to effiecat

Redcar Tue 27-Oct-26 07:21:24

Good morning everyone from mid Essex. Grey, breezy and very mild out, rain is forecast for this morning but hopefully it will brighten up this afternoon.
I went for a walk yesterday morning in the rain, it wasn’t unpleasant fortunately. I abandoned my plans to pot up bulbs as it was too wet, maybe tomorrow when it is supposed to be dry. Pottered around indoors, clearing the back bedroom so I can sleep in there while my bedroom is being decorated, I still have no idea when the painter will be starting work, maybe next week or the week after.

marzipan good to have met some kindred spirits at your sewing group! Enjoy your walk on the beach.

Thank you for the photos bluesapphire, beautiful blue sky. I hope you enjoy the day in Zadar, with less walking.

grandmattie I’m pleased that you are no longer in danger of knocking yourself out on the scaffolding. What a nuisance that bus stops have been moved - and even more of a nuisance that your buses were cancelled.

Thinking of those who are struggling this morning, hoping life improves for you all soon.

Have the best day possible everyone, whatever life throws at us today.

Marydoll Tue 27-Oct-26 07:24:42

In A&E since 2pm yesterday. Slept in A&E, no beds!
Going to cardiology, when the finally find a bed.

There are trolleys everywhere, it is horrendous.

DH was true to form. He stopped a consultant and asked for his help with the bed rails. The consultant was not amused! 🤣
He then toldan other doctor, I needed the loo. 🤷‍♀️

I will now go back and read your posts.
