Here we are again...you know the words. Welcome and enjoy each others company. [cake] wine flowers sunshine...
Away to watch more tennis grin

soop Sun 14-Aug-16 13:39:34

I've a small pile of ironing to do. Then, I shall rush aboot the hoos with a broom. Then, I may change the bedding and water the house plants. After that, I shall prepare for the tennis final. I'm very excited at the prospect of Andy winning the gold medal. Pity that a certain 6'6" Del Potro will try to win the same medal.

Charleygirl Sun 14-Aug-16 14:48:22

soop I was willing for Rafa to lose yesterday because I thought that Andy had a better chance of winning against Del Potro today, provided he keeps his cool. I was also hoping that Del Potro would have a hard match, which he did. Andy's match was so much easier and he has had more time to relax.

Good luck tomorrow and Tuesday.

DaphneBroon Sun 14-Aug-16 15:13:02

Soop do NOT go rushing round the hoos with a broom. Any dust will still be there when you get back, so sit down, have an early G and T and ENJOY the tennis, conserving your energy or biting the surgeon's hand if they fail to muzzle you!
And seriously, good luck, I hope it is not too uncomfortable, helpful and over quickly! flowers

moomin Sun 14-Aug-16 16:02:14

soop the very best of luck and all good wishes for your hospital "do" on Monday. Hope things get sorted out for you and you make a speedy recovery flowers

Bellasnana Sun 14-Aug-16 16:15:25

Is Andy playing yet? We can't find himshock

I was devastated that Rafa lost yesterday. He is so sweet.sad

soop, dear pal, you will be in my thoughts also as you go for your procedure. I wish you all the best and hope it won't be too unpleasant.flowers

Charleygirl Sun 14-Aug-16 16:28:17

Bellasnana I also cannot find tennis on the box. Admittedly I do not have a red button so it may well be on some obscure channel that I do not have access to. The subject has not been mentioned for hours.

dustyangel Sun 14-Aug-16 16:36:00

Best wishes both for the journey and your procedure soop. I hope it Is successful and that you are back home feeling a lot more comfortable soon. flowers

I have been thinking about bags and her mother too. Glad to know that they are alright and I'm sure bags will tell us what she can, when she can, soon.

dustyangel Sun 14-Aug-16 16:38:41

Just had a quick google, the men's tennis final is on at 7.0pm today.

Bellasnana Sun 14-Aug-16 16:49:18

Thanks dustyangel smile

TriciaF Sun 14-Aug-16 16:50:07

Thinking of you on the next few days, Soop, and hoping all goes well.

soop Sun 14-Aug-16 17:10:27

Bah! What a buggeration. I've completed far too many jobs simply to be ready and lolling in my chair for 4.00 as the Radio Times tells me that Andy will be playing in the final on BBC4. Only he's not. I'm miffed.

dustyangel I phoned my pal in the village. She checked with Google. You are right. Seven o'clock will be the moment we're all waiting for with bated breath.

bags tells me that her mother is home again. Big sigh of relief. smile

Bellasnana I want to smother mother Rafa. He's a thoroughly decent man (and drop-dead gorgeous with it.)

Thank you, dustyangel moomin The hospital "do" is on Tuesday morning. Because I need to be in my gown and prepared for an enema by 8:am we'll be staying in a nearby hotel overnight. The hospital is about a twenty minute drive from the hotel (on a good day.) In order to arrive at a decent time, the only other alternative would have been leaving home at 4:am. The road to Glasgow has been known to close at the Rest and be Thankful. Landslides occur without sufficient warning. When one occurs, there is a sixty plus mile diversion. Makes sense to plan ahead.

DaphneB I shall gaze into the surgeon's eyes as I drift away. I do NOT envy him the task of rootling around up my backside. If after this latest wotsit, I'm told that a further repair is out of the question, I shall accept the decision with a smile and from thereon, like many other people with far more serious health problems, I shall count my blessings and get on with life.

soop Sun 14-Aug-16 17:12:18

Thank you TriciaF. I shall pop into our kitchen before we leave home. I am anxious that you lot have a cosy place to gather in my absence.

Charleygirl Sun 14-Aug-16 17:35:57

It mentioned on TV that Andy's match will start around 7.30pm and maybe later but I will be ready from 7pm.

Another week to go and then there is a small chance of me doing some work in this house other than washing clothes.

soop you will not recognise the kitchen when you return and Rory will welcome you with open arms as he will have had enough of us lot, not getting much rest. Bracken will hide as usual but I will attempt to entice her in.

annodomini Sun 14-Aug-16 17:47:33

Houseework? Olympics only happen every four years which leaves an awfully long time to keep on procrastinating. Several weeks ago, before I went 'down south', I decided to 'cull' the contents of my linen cupboard. And they are all piled up in the spare room waiting for me to dispose of them. I cannot remember where all the duvets came from - some of them must be at least 40 years old.

soop Sun 14-Aug-16 17:48:16

What! 7:30! I shall need a decent G&T to prepare me. It seems to me that I've looked forward to his game from the moment I opened my eyes.
Charleyg Steady on. Housework will always wait for you to deal with it. She says through gritted teeth.
I know that you lot will continue to take care of the kitchen and each other in my brief absence. I'm betting that by first thing tomorrow morning, we shall be opening the door to our newly renovated gathering place. grin

soop Sun 14-Aug-16 17:50:52

anno I enjoy an annual cull of airing cupboards (and sometimes, wardrobes.) Such activity is good for the soul. We think alike. grin

Charleygirl Sun 14-Aug-16 17:53:21

I do hope so soop. Believe it or not but I was up at the crack of dawn to watch the tennis, thinking that it was 7.30am. Because they are so uncertain re timing soop I intend to be prepared for 7pm.

G&T does not interest me but a mug of coffee will!

annodomini Sun 14-Aug-16 17:56:47

Annual, soop? Some of that stuff has been in there since I moved in 16 years ago.
#slobofagranny

annodomini Sun 14-Aug-16 17:59:07

*Charley Rio time is 4 hours behind us. 7.30am would have them playing tennis at 3.30am. I do hope Andy will be safely tucked up in bed at that hour!

Bellanonna Sun 14-Aug-16 18:01:36

Dear soop. Here's wishing you all the best for tomorrow and a comfortable night's sleep in the unfamiliar bed tonight. I do hope for a successful outcome from the investigation. Hope to hear you again soon.x.

Charleygirl Sun 14-Aug-16 18:13:50

anno I have lost it and that proves it!

soop Sun 14-Aug-16 18:19:15

Bellanonna Tonight I sleep in my own bed. Tomorrow night I sleep in a Glaswegian bed. I promise to be in touch once I'm back in Kintyre.

Charleyg I shall raise a glass to you at seven-ish.

I've ridden the exercise bike for twenty minutes precisely. I have a timer. I'm knackered at the moment it tells me that I've done enough. Every time, without fail, the timer alarm makes me jump a mile. grin

anno wink

soop Sun 14-Aug-16 18:20:07

Okay. We have two message spaces to go. New kitchen soon to be opened.

Charleygirl Sun 14-Aug-16 18:20:47

You know what I am attempting to do soop!

soop Sun 14-Aug-16 18:20:52

That's it. Time to open the new kitchen. Ready, steady go....grin
