GS's dear little cat stopped out all night on Monday - not for the first time, but he didn't appear at all on Tuesday and DS found him hiding in the garden on Wednesday. He is in a bad way having probably been hit by a car. He is having surgery for internal injuries at 6 tonight. It's just awful waiting to find out if he is going to recover. The boys will be so upset if he doesn't make it. We are away on holiday. I wish I was at home to be able to comfort them. Our pets are so important to us, aren't they?

N&g Sam is making he most of a bad lot obviously being in a house that has not had air conditioning fitted for him!! He is doing the best that he can under the circumstances to air his tum. I do not see anybody fanning him!!!!!

soop Bracken looks very comfortable sitting in the shade.

Tara has been out for hours but luckily I managed to squirt on the flea treatment yesterday as it was a day of leisure. It was on before she realised it or she would have been up and away.

I could easily get tempted by another cat or dog. Fortunately knowing the responsibility combined with the fact that we still want to travel, I manage to resist.

NanaandG I hated the whole sale process every time we did it. Mind you I can easily find things in unlikely places after a hurried tidy up even now.

DH and I like simple pleasures too. We have just had lunch out at our usual Saturday cafe to celebrate our meeting 50 years ago today.
When I went shopping to buy something new for a party I was going to that night, (those were the days! ) I vaguely wondered why there were so many men outside all the television shop windows, I had no idea the football World Cup was on!
Unknown to me future DH had celebrated the win rather too well and had to be woken up by his friends to come to the same party. The rest is history.

oldgoat I will keep my fingers crossed that the little mite makes it- yes we love them so much.

oldgoat I feel sad for your son. Finding an injured pet is very distressing. Your grandson must be feeling awful right now. I'm hoping that the vet can save the cat's life. Please update us.

Soop, Bracken looks very contented, she`s a beautiful girl. Our very first kitten, 50 odd years ago, was a bluey grey coloured one with blue eyes, but his mum looked exactly like Bracken.
Mia isn`t allowed out overnight, so far, luckily, she`s come home before we go to bed, but I do try not to let her out after 8pm, unless she`s already still out. I still vividly remember poor Pepper being out overnight and never returning, having been run over, hope we never have to go through that again.

numberplease that is what I dresd but Tara goes out early, returns when she fancies and recently it has been between 1.30am and 6am so there is little I can do. If she appears occasionally at 6pm that is her locked in for the night!

I told MacS about the little cat. He sympathises with you, oldgoat He has done his utmost to deter Rory from straying across the road. Sadly, we've known a few much-loved pets being involved in car accidents.

I really do need to log off. The little cat is in my thoughts.

Hope the little cat can be helped oldgoat, the children must be devastated. We've never had a car, just as well I think as I'd be a wreck each time it went out. Would love a dog again, common sense prevailing at the moment as our lives aren't structured enough. Maybe one day. That burn looks really nasty soop. I hope you mend quickly. Probably best to iron the clothes, not yourself . N&G, it will all be worth it, but goodness isn't moving such hard work? Had a lovely day today, long walk in the sunshine, finally we had some. Thank you all so much for your kind messages about DS's cat. The vet has just rung to say that puss has come through the operation and woken from the anaesthetic. He had a ruptured diaphragm and his liver, stomach and spleen were pressing on his lungs and stopping him from breathing. Luckily they were able to repair the damage so now it's a matter of keeping our fingers crossed that he will make a good recovery. Apparently he has had so much fur shaved off that he is nearly bald! Thank goodness they have a good insurance policy.

oldgoat that sounds promising. The vet would not have continued the surgery if he did not think that there was a reasonable outcome for the little fellow. I do hope the little man gets a decent night's sleep. He will be well looked after.

I love cats and will be thinking about your family's little cat and wishing him well. Best wishes to your GC on their hopes for him.

Oh my goodness. I hardly dare come into the kitchen for fear of hearing distressing news regarding oldgoat's son's cat. Wow! He surely is a tough wee feline. Such a lot of serious damage and he still made it into his own garden. That has possibly saved his life. The fact that he came through complex surgery is a heartening sign. The vet will do all that he can to give kitten a new lease of life. oldgoat Us lot are here to support each other. It matters.

I cannot tell you how relieved I am for oldgoat and her family.

Now, for a big moan. MacS and I keep a bin liner in the car boot. We often happen across rubbish strewn along the verge of nearby lay-bys. Today was no exception. I'm attaching a photo. Inside crumpled up sandwich wrappers was a till receipt with the litter lout's card details on. Ooooh, I'm tempted to report the incident to the police. I doubt that anything constructive would result from the perpetrator being "grassed-up".
