Soop's Kindly Kitcheners

I live in a quiet private cul de sac but one family have a "I do not care" attitude so the children drop crisp packets, icecream and lollipop covers on anybody's open plan front lawns so once a week I go out with my picker upper to try to keep this area looking decent and not look like some sink council estate.

There is a MacDonalds within 1/2 mile but we live just beyond the area where the MacDonalds man clears up. So careless. One of these days I will post the crisp packets through the couple's letterbox.

Just to update you on pussy's
progress. He's much brighter this morning but not eating much yet. The vet says that if he starts eating properly he may be able to come home by Wednesday. I'm amazed that they were able to repair his injuries but an expert surgeon from a neighbouring town was called in to do the operation. DiL says he looks as though he will need a little jumper to keep him warm til his lovely long fur grows again.
Feeling so much happier today knowing that he is probably going to make a good recovery and the family , of course, are thrilled. The boys really love that cat. They went with their mum when she had to rush him to the vets and the littlest said to the vet, through his tears, "Please don't let him die".

I hate litter too soop and have been known to follow people along the street and hand them back the item which they've casually discarded. They usually look at you as if you're mad!
Flytipping is also an issue , especially in the countryside. We once saw a car dumped in the middle of a beautiful beach on Vatersay.

oldgoat We came across a soiled double mattress dumped in a ditch in Cornwall.

The maddening thing is that whoever dumped that mattress must have had some sort of transport to get it there, so why didn't they just take it to a skip?

oldgoat that is good news, it would appear that young fellow is going to pull through. What is his name and how old is he? You should know by now that us lot are nosy.

oldgoat We're all hoping that kitten returns home for lots of TLC. When that happens, please may we have a photo for the pet gallery.

I'm away to feed the pussy cats. After which...a G&T with a slice of lime and a splash of special elderberry cordial. Very refreshing. I wish you all a peaceful evening and let us hope that poorly wee kitty continues to improve...slowly but surely.

Good news Oldgoat, a tough little cat. Your litter pick must have taken a while soop, it's so not necessary to leave it anywhere, especially the side of the road. We had an interesting experience yesterday. Leaving a local shopping area there was a need for a rapid stop to avoid a car reversing from a parking space. Said car then turned into the access road to our home, down came a window and out came two pieces of litter. To add insult to injury the driver then stopped in the middle of the road, no signal, to let a passenger out. Fortunately then driving away before blood pressure could rise any more. Driver and passenger were both female, made it worse somehow. No need for any of it, just a little bit of thought makes life so much easier for others. Time for tea - best be out of the virtual kitchen and into the real one. Have a good evening everyone.

Soop, MacSporran would need at least 2 large binliners if he came down just our stretch of the river bank at the front of us, by stretch I mean about 200 yards worth. People drive down here, probably after dark, and either drop off bags of rubbish, or just tip it out. Another disgusting habit folk have is stopping somewhere along our road and emptying their car ashtrays out on the road. Wonder what they`d say if we did it outside their houses?

Sorry Oldgoat, I missed a page, so glad to read the news about the little cat.

Here are a couple of pictures of poorly puss before his accident. He's about 15 months old now and called Boggit. Yes, I know it's a terrible name for such a pretty little cat, but they didn't ask granny's opinion.
He is starting to perk up a bit today and talking to the vet nurses. Once he is eating properly again, instead of from a spoon, he will be allowed to come home. Hope he won't have any relapses.

Very glad to hear the good news about Boggit Corner . What a pretty cat.

Soop I hate litter !! Its just so unnecessary . My children always handed me any rubbish and it went in my pocket or bag till we got home. Now I watch as their children do the same to them. And don't get me started on people who throw stuff out of the window !!! Grrrr

Had a lovely but busy weekend with Grampy deciding to decorate the master bedroom out of the blue !! Whoever buys our house wont have to get a paintbrush out !!

The ironing is calling my name...damn it !! Back later x

Tara appeared at 10.30pm last night and spent the night with me. She still has not run out of the door which is unusual and is super glued to me.

Mr C is also destined to wield a paintbrush today while I do the admin - and doubtlessly the clearing up! I keep repeating 'it will be lovely when it's done'. . Certainly a pretty cat oldgoat, hope he continues to mend.

Would you credit it! I've lost all of this morning's responses plus three photos. I am not amused.

oldgoat Boggit is beautiful. The news continues to be positive. It will mean so much to the family when he's strong enough to return home. I feel that I know him.

Us lot have been taught to be considerate. If our grandchildren care sufficiently to dispose of wrappers that they find strewn in the park, then why can't adults do the right thing and take their litter home with them. I apologise for "going on" about the matter. Discarded litter (other than in a bin) makes me see red.

Oldgoat I love Boggit he is beautiful. I see he has perfected Grace's pose, relaxed on the rug. Hope he makes a good recovery. Pets are so important to children.

Charleygirl, I wonder what has happened to Tara . She isn't hiding any injury is she to make her stay so close?

Crafting no she is fine. I think she is enjoying the great outdoors because for around 4 years there were two ginger toms who lived about 5 doors away and rarely allowed her out of the house. Luckily they moved with their owners, it is only one bully boy now who does not live here- I have no idea where he does live but he does not visit daily any more.

I think that she enjoys a snooze in the long grass fairly close to our house. The people who own that area never cut the grass so it is a wilderness which she loves.

She was out all day and every day during winter also- it is nothing new but when it first started about 18 months ago I was worried because she was a mum's cat, even coming outside if I was hanging out washing. She loved lying in a chair if I was outside having a cup of coffee and reading a newspaper.

There have been a few spits of rain but not enough to make a difference.

Charleyg Bully-boy cats can be a nightmare. My son had a couple of cats that were pestered every time they went through the cat flap. In fact, the two bully cats used to get into the house and there were some awful fights.

Talking of wilderness...Tara would approve of certain areas in our garden. All that clearing that I did in the Spring...forget it...if anything, the garden is even more wild (and wonderful)...

In Waitrose cafe with DH and there is a young mum to our right with a tot (maybe 18 months?) in a high chair with her. So far while we have been here, about 30 minutes, the mum has made no eye contact with the little girl, but is totally fixated on her phone ignoring the little girl's babbling. Why does this make me feel sad?

Oh Daphne isn't that Mum missing out on so much? Can only hope the little one has other adults in her life that do interact, a grandparent or two perhaps . What it is storing up for their relationship in the future goodness knows. If it is typical I imagine the little one will be screaming her head off in a supermarket queue one day just to get some attention. It is sad. It's been a very wet day here today, still raining, the garden is very pleased, though. Mr C has painted many door frames with many warnings about not leaning on them - I imagine by the time they are dry I will have a white stripe somewhere . More to do tomorrow apparently, shouldn't complain, the white was definitely yellow. Have a good evening everyone and a safe day tomorrow.
