Soop's Kindly Kitcheners

We spend so much time on the A1 round Berwick wincing when people overtake in stupid places . Usually when there's a dual carriageway not far ahead; they never gain anything by it. Late last night, as I was driving back from the next village I noticed a motorbike parked by the side of the road; lights on but couldn't see anyone. Thought I'd better go back and check everything was ok [it was very late and the road is very quiet]. Turns out it had broken down and the man was waiting for the AA to come out. Wouldn't have been able to sleep if I hadn't made sure there hadn't been an accident.

Years ago I was walking down a lane with my friend who had a baby with her that she was childminding. A man walked past us looking dishevelled and a bit spaced out; we didn't speak to him because we were responsible for the child that was with us. A few weeks later my friend read that a man had been involved in a car crash and had walked away from the accident; he later died. We both felt that it was the man that we had seen. I still feel guilty about it which is why I've always resolved to follow anything suspicious up. Had we had mobile phones back then we would, I guess, have phoned the police. Maybe it wasn't him but I still feel guilty about it.

Tegan I agree with Bellanonna It was both brave and necessary.

Police van has left our drive. A very good pal phoned 15 mins ago..."Are you okay?"

Off to feed the pussy cats. I mentioned to Rory that we've mice in the engine compartment. He didn't take a blind bit of notice. That's our cat for you.

Tegan I can well imagine how you felt when you met the "spaced out man". A mobile phone has its uses.

With luck all the threads written by that angry young man will have vanished by tomorrow morning provided that nobody else wants to add their halfpenny worth.

I had my double glazed windows changed in March and the sealant looked awful, inside and out not a professional job. It has taken until today to get somebody to come and do the work but on arrival he told me that it was an assessment. This was at 5.30pm he arrived. In fairness early am he did tell me that he would be here between 2.30pm and 5.30pm. Apparently it is a 2 man man job for 4 hours at some later date.

Ah well what else am I doing but sitting behind my front door knitting waiting for people to come and do work. At least he has been, I can have a shower now as it is sweltering here and Tara will appear as and when she fancies.

That sounds as if there could have been a worse outcome soop, scary for everyone. Have you got your story ready about the need for a police car? I'm sure we could all help you with some ideas for a 'story' . Pleased that card turned up, no need for phone calls and inconvenience. Sun has finally come out here, better late than never. No storms so far. Hope there have been no more falls.

I have never heard of mice living there soop. Rory will turn up his nose and walk away, he has cooked fresh chicken on Saturdays, why should he be bothered with mice? Tara may give them a run for their money but she is not a fan of cars unless she is sleeping under it.

I love the idea of the Fallen Women's Society, Daphne. We could even elevate our status to that of Fallen Angels

Glad to see that angry young man has vanished with all of his rude threads. If he read them, he got more than he bargained for.

I went to bed around 10.30pm last night, read until midnight- up to the loo at 2.30am no sign of her but I did see her asleep on the landing at 6.30am. She has stayed in all morning to catch up with some shut eye. I do not like her being out for so long but I have little choice. Hopefully next week will be back to normal weatherwise.

Drat! I've responded to all the messages...even included some images of flowers that I photographed this morning. What happens...I lost the lot. Blithering buggerations!

The Kintyre Two ...

The beached car was recovered by a pick-up truck during the evening. Luckily, the young lady escaped with a sore shoulder and a bad case of the jitters. She will have learnt a valuable lesson. It could have been a fatal accident if it were not for the beach on to which she steered the car.

And now I'm unable to log off. My patience is wearing perilously thin. I may need to blaspheme out of earshot...

Is your deep pink rose a rambler and quite a small flower, soop. It looks as if it's related to my "irrepressible" which, ahem, roe deer have fairly effectively repressed this year! It will resurrect. Do not worry.

bags The deep pink flower is one of the wild roses. There is an enormous bush in the hedgerow very near here..

The flowers grow in clusters.
