The deer put an end to our roses, ate the buds.
I rescued 2 of them and put them in large pots next to the house. Looking lovely at the moment. I would send photos if I was as clever as you, Soop.

I hope your potted roses continue to survive, tricia. The deer have been eating my "irrepressible" right next to the house this year. I'm going to try and train it into the portico. If they still nibble it in there, I'll well and truly give up.

bags PLEASE do visit us in bonnie Kintyre. I shall take a cutting from this bush and attempt to encourage it to root and thrive in a pot. You never know!

Tricia I would love to be able to talk you through the process of uploading on here. It took some time for me to get the hang of it.

We've been a bit busy with getting the house ready for its photo shoot . Had the youngest grandson for a couple of hours today whilst his brother went out with their mummy and daddy and bought his school uniform .where did 5 years go ?

There was a funeral in the village this pm - the mother of a youngish woman who had been suffering from cancer for some time . A blessing really.
They make quite an occasion of funerals here. The family is well known so there would be many there. There's a church service, then everyone follows the coffin on foot to the nearby cemetery. Then a procession past the bereaved to give them condolences, and into the village hall for a drink and buffet.
We meant to go, but in the end, didn't. I think I'll go round to the daughter's house and take a condolence card. Feeling a bit guilty, but had a lot to do and feeling tired.

Hello NanaandGrampy I can well imagine that you are being kept busy what with one thing and another. Your grandchildren must love spending time with you. Isn't it a big moment when a small child wears his first school uniform. Time flashes by all too quickly. One minute they are wearing a little-too-roomy blazer and before you know it, they're away to university.

TriciaF Our village funerals are like the one you've mentioned. We attend the church service (although we're non-religious) but we do not walk in a procession to the cemetery. After a funeral, all hands make light work of providing refreshments and reminiscing. At the last funeral tea, we watched video film of the deceased in happier, livelier times. I liked that part of the afternoon. People seemed to unwind and there were smiles to share.

I'm about to ride my exercise bike. After which, I've stuff to attend to. I wish all our Kitcheners a pleasant evening and hope to catch up with you tomorrow.

Bit late today. A sort of a relaxed day for me, enjoying some sunshine after the food shop. Had a really good day yesterday with friends visiting Puzzle Wood, Forest of Dean/Wye Valley area. Interesting place, scene of much filming and apparently the inspiration for Middle Earth. The only time we have had to sign a disclaimer about rough paths. In fairness can understand, lots of ups and downs, wooden steps and moss. Recommend it for those who are ok with that terrain. Very proud I managed it with a smile and lots of laughs along the way. Needed a quiet day today to recover, though. Volunteering tomorrow. Hope the photo shoot goes well n&g. I can't believe you have anything left to tidy, or didn't before youngest grandson arrived . Bit of a down day, we had hoped to be hoe next week, but our car is very poorly and cannot be fixed before Wednesday and will probably be very expensive. So many jobs to do at home and we are stuck in Leicester drinking Pimms. Bored.

GandTea you are retired, at least you are not racing home again to start work on Monday. I agree that you could well do without the expense of car repairs.

LOL, our retired life is busier than when we worked. Have been emailing and phoning cancellations.

Soop not too much exercise - it's really bad for you!

I've not been in the kitchen for a while as life has been a touch hectic chez Lester. DGS1 has been poorly so I had to go and watch TV with him a couple of times - real hardship! Then we heard that DBiL, who has taken his caravan to the south of France, was in hospital as a replaced knee had broken down and become engorged. He is now driving home!

And then, yesterday, we heard that DGD4 had to go to A & E as she had pulled her finger nail off. So DD spent yesterday at one hospital and today at another. Poor Lottie wasn't allowed to eat or drink after 2am in case they operated. At 2.30 they were told that they wouldn't operate today and to come back in another week.

I don't know about anyone else but I'm ready for

Although I've been very busy doing stuff, I feel so relaxed and settled, and I'm sleeping like a log! I can't tell you how happy I am to have shed the responsibility of my house. My landlord is a really lovely man and I hope he'll be happy to let me stay for a good few years.
I'm looking after little dgd3 tonight so it's Peppa Pig and a little dish of Maltezers as a Nana treat. As she had baked beans and cheese for her supper there's also a lot of trumping! Not such a treat!

Very glad your card turned up safe and sound soop. I was hunting for my English purse the other day, it contains my English change and cards etc. I had a worrying couple of hours before it turned up in the safe place I'd put it in.
I'm also glad that the accident nearby didn't have any serious consequences.
Our excitement this week was a a digger (I'm sure Torben would be more technical) going up the road on the back of a lorry. It stopped higher up the hill and proceeded to clear flat area on the local shepherd's land. Oh, the number of cars that have had to drive by just to have a look. We normally only get half a dozen a week.

I think the Fallen Angel club is a good idea. I would like to join as long as I don't have to have another fall. I've had a few corkers in the last couple of years and know how painful and upsetting it is. I hope DaphneB and Maggiemaybe are recovering well.

It's our youngest DDs BBQ today so we'll be heading over at midday. Jackson (aged 4) wants to buy a car . A Bugatti Veyron as you asked . So he has got his mummy to help him make a lemonade stand and he will be robbing selling to all the guests. When asked how much he was charging he replied "£80 a cup" . Luckily, his mummy persuaded him 20p was a better idea. I can see a lot of lemonade in my future !!

Lona glad you're all settled in. I love how little ones get so engrossed in their programmes. Our lot love malteasers too although we call them ' small geezers' lol

Having a lazy hour then I need to prepare lunch for DH's brother , home on a visit from Singapore and sister from Kent plus 17 year old half-Chinese niece who is doing her A levels in England.
2 challenges
1 Will I be able to keep a smile on my face as I surgically separate her from her iPhone
2 how to cope with sis in law's very sweet but badly behaved and untrained 2 year old Lakeland terrier which she has to bring with her. She doesn't believe in raising your voice to a dog "Now D** you know you really shouldn't do that/bark/jump up/snatch/bite, dear. Please don't do it again"
Can't leave a dog in the car, locking him in the garage equally cruel, but I will NOT have Grace upset.

As to the little dog , ignore your SIL and use your firm voice on the dog . Bad behaviour is unacceptable and if she won't do it, you must. It's Graces home she deserves to enjoy it .

If not send the little chap over , we don't tolerate badly behaved dogs ( ask my sister lol) !! We'll sort him out
