He's relying on the credit card company. His insurance company says that financial failure doesn't cover travel firms. I shan't see him until Friday, let you have the latest then. His travel insurance is through the AA

soop Rory reminds me so much of Grace, DaphneBroon's greyhound who is also always very comfortable but rarely awake.

Charleyg I agree. Rory has lolled under the shade of a hydrangea bush for the best part of the day. However, the moment he hears a certain cupboard opening, he'll be in like a shot and whinging pathetically.

It certainly is hot this afternoon. There is barely a whisper of a breeze. Once upon a time I was a sun worshipper. I'm happy to stroll in the sunshine but I no longer feel inclined to sunbathe.

MacS asked me where do I keep my debit card. I thought that I knew and went to retrieve it. It isn't where it should be. Now I'm feeling flustered. I need to go through pockets and handbags until it's found. I cannot recall when last I used it. All a tad worrisome.

Ironing duty tomorrow. Back with you lot after lunch. Enjoy the wonderful weather.

Back from a lovely beach day. All the sensible sun precautions taken and so enjoyed my comfy chair and book. Love the pajamas and photo soop but so hope your debit card has reappeared. That sort of loss leaves an uncomfortably nauseous feeling. You will know to notify the bank urgently if you can't find it, hope you won't need to. That's useful travel insurance information Galen, it wouldnt occur to me that financial failure wasn't included, need to check next time we need some. I hope the credit card company are more reasonable. Shoukd catch up with some jobs tomorrow but if the sun is still shining they may have to wait .

Very hot here in Cheshire, but far too hot to be cooped up in a small car, in Sainsbury's car park, waiting for an AA man to come and change a wheel. Luckily I was able to go and buy myself a sandwich and a smoothie while I waited. The wheel is now at my local garage for the tyre to be repaired or replaced and I have been chilling out. Saw my rheumatologist this morning. She is terrific - kept me there for well over the usual allotted time and gave me some advice about my poorly leg - my walking stick was too short!

anno at least it was Sainsburys car park and not some narrow country road. At least it is now sorted. Good that a very simple solution such as a proper sized stick will help your walking.

That's my poem. Except my ship was a Sadler 29 with a 40ft mast. I really loved her. I love my cruising but I miss Psalm of Life. I hope her present owner loves her too.

Bu**er! Went flying on the underground from Old Street to Euston after going to SIL's private view in Shoreditch. Train jerked as I was heading for a seat and I somehow missed the pole and landed flat out ,winding myself, jarring my hand and fingers , and I think probably grazing my knee which is swelling up and very tender.
Everybody was terribly nice to the old dear, but I am now feeling a bit sorry for myself on the train home wishing I could wrap myself round a brandy.

How horrible. Hope not too much damage. And not too long till you can indeed wrap yourself round thst brandy. I really sympathise.

Oh no DaphneBroon! Hope you are OK, it is so easily done in an instant.

I hope you`re alright DaphneB, it`s not just the pain of it, it`s feeling stupid as well, isn`t it? I fell a few years back outside the shop down the road, and if I fall I can`t get up by myself. It took 2 strapping blokes to get me up on my feet because I`m no featherweight, and it was so embarrassing!

That was a great picture gandtea a definite keeper. And the poem brought back memories, I'm a navy brat and I swear we had to learn it in every military school I went to !!

Oh Daphne nasty end to your lovely day. Hope you're not feeling too bumped and bruised today. If ever I fall I have left strict instructions....leave me there and just step over me ! I cannot imagine how many strapping blokes it would take to get me up again...think beached whale ;-))

It was hot, hot, hot here again last night and even the aircon did not make up for the hot air. If that makes sense. I am sooo Looking forward to swimming today and we will be outside ( much to young Jacksons delight) We're taking DD2 and DGS4 too. Family outing !!

Last time I fell over, my adult GD picked me up and administered first aid, got me home and made a brew. How I miss her since she's gone to live down south. I was far more worried about the state of my trousers than my lacerated leg, but was left wondering how I could do so much damage to the leg and leave the trousers undamaged. Have a quiet day Daph and rest your poorly knee.

Sympathise Daphne, I too have wondered how the material remains intact but the skin doesnt. Hope you are more comfortable today. Well, no sitting out for me today, its blowing an absolute gale. I love the sun and it feels a personal affront if I can't be outside comfortably, especially when a friend who lives inland has just been complaining about the heat - grr. I'm feeling very unsellted by a couple of angry threads I tripped over on the site, wish I hadnt read them. Do young people really hate us that much? Of course rationally I know not, or should I say hope not but if there is a real feeling out in the world as expressed by that individual I fear for our future. I'll blame my gloomy feeling on the strong winds and go and dust something, as I won't be comfortable outside might as well be productive inside.

Don't let that silly boy (as I am sure he is) upset you Cornergran a tr*ll if ever I saw one, a spoilt brat with no respect (although I know that is not automatic) knowledge, sense, or grasp of the facts. Somebody said on one of "those" treads it was a pity more Young people didn't actually turn out to vote -"posting on Facebook or Instagram doesn't actually COUNT you know"!!

CornerGran, we get idiots like that every school holiday, just trying to cause mischief. Don't take him/her seriously, have a bit of fun at their expense.

cornergran that young fellow is probably still in bed and as I said on another post, I doubt if he voted or is on the electoral roll. At least the polling stations were open until 10pm. 7am in the morning would be too early for him as he probably does not surface before 2pm. Why he bothered to open so many posted on the same subject I have no idea. He is better ignored now that he has vented some spleen.

soop I loved Torben's new pyjamas and GandTea I liked that photo of your GS, he looked so forlorn and lost and yes, he has got a fair way to hike home.

Tara decided to come home at 10.30pm last night. How she survived without food and water from 5.30am I have no idea. She was not impressed when I shut her in my bedroom(I was in bed reading) to go downstairs to close the door. She retired to her room in a huff.

It is hot and humid here in London- I would welcome the odd shower today having done all of my washing yesterday.

DaphneBroon I hope that you are at home, resting with a glass or two of brandy to hand, purely medicinal of course. Please take it easy today, it is a shock to the system. You were so lucky that you did not break a bone. You have seen the inside of hospitals for other reasons recently to last you a lifetime.
