I was wondering what exclamations everyone uses other than actual swearing (OK that will start a debate about what is swearing and what isn't.
In this house
Gordon Bennett gets a fair airing as does Stone the Crows (much favoured by my Grandpa).
What's yours?

Linsco, you mean Billy lied to me. Bassa

I use the all the usual ones except anything that includes the various names of
The Lord. I hate to hear them or see them written. I love to use "Bum Tits " or
"Bum Tits on Stilts !!"

Oh just heard the c word twice on Versailles which was not as bad as seeing someone having their eye dug out earlier on the same programme but horrible all the same

Buggeration!!

Fishhooks was 'the' word used by a colleague .... quite often and over a number of years - was waiting for him to have a mispronunciation - he never did!

DD1 thought 'wretched' was swearing when she was small. I quite like 'Holy Toledo' stolen from Klinger in 'Mash', also 'Horsefeathers', probably from same programme.

I try not to swear- the way i was brought up! So I say some of these: For heaven's sake, flippin heck, knickers, blow it, botheration, blimey, good lord! , crikey, blooming or blimmin, or if really stressed For Gods Sake! D H sometimes says (when very cross) bloody hell but i dont like it!

living on my own I can "swear like a trooper" there must often be a "blue cloud" over my house. I worked within "male dominated" industries so am unshockable. when I am out & about in company my language is moderated "bloody" is about as bad as it gets. my late husbands favourite was "bolleau! pronounced bollo as in gateaux so no guessing what that stands for grin

My mother used to exclaim 'Blood and stomach pills!'I tend to use 'Strewth and Daylight!' Oh, and 'Fiddlesticks!'

My favourite easy reading books are M C Beaton - her Agatha Raisin character says 'Snakes and B**ds***'

Christ on a bike. Though, of course, this counts as blasphemy and might be worse to some people than straightforward swearing which is often of a sexual nature. C on a B has the irrisistible rhythm of an anapest followed by a stressed syllable employed by many titles such as 'Lord of the Flies', 'Wuthering Heights' and 'Gone With the Wind'.

DS1 when he was small was heard muttering 'Stockings!' under his breath...I think he thought it was a swearword. Sweet!

Cagsy Tue 05-Jul-16 12:49:49

I just swear wink

Marmight Tue 05-Jul-16 13:21:52

So do I Cagsy blush
I did so last week, exceedingly loudly, when I tore a muscle in my calf - don't know which was louder, the muscle ripping or me shouting f* * * x3 like Hugh Grant! I did have a quick look round to see if any of my neighbours had heard as I crawled back up the steps to my house......

Daddima Tue 05-Jul-16 16:37:39

I'm with Cagsy & Marmight. If you're going to swear, just swear.

Mind you, " For Fox's Glacier Mints", is good if you want to cause a stir!

NfkDumpling Tue 05-Jul-16 20:58:07

Politely - Bummocks. Voiced several years ago by Sarah Kennedy and adopted .

Impolitely - Shit!

Envious Tue 05-Jul-16 21:10:20

If sudden pain is involved I'll say s**t. Really not a swearer but my mom would say Damn. I may think fk but it's not something that would come out of my mouth.it seems much more common with younger people and on tv which is worrisome. It never use to come into my head.
