Ye, now here is something you might enjoy. We phoned our daughter yesterday evening, and then asked to speak to our son-in-law. Oh! she said, he's still working (this was late evening). They (his small company) all stopped work to watch the England play Wales, and are now making up the time - How times have changed, but what a lovely atmosphere in the company!

Indeed it feels much more comfortable and yes I do want to be comfortable in my communications - love the Good News thread particularly.

WE were out all afternoon and recorded the match, deliberately tried not to know the score. Thought we would be safe in Tesco getting a few things. The store erupted when the second England goal went in, not sure where the game was showing in store. Hey Ho, best laid plans etc.

I was watching Royal Ascot on TV and the same thing happened there when the second goal went in.The crowd erupted and Clare Balding told us why!

Yes I've noticed this welcome change too. For the first time in ages there have been multiple threads that I've actually wanted to look at! A pleasant change from all the doom, gloom and irritability that seems to have dominated the forums for some time now.

DH and I went to GD's school play and wouldn't put the radio on while driving home. I sent him to watch the recording before looking at his phone or the computer.

Of all the places to listen to 'The Archers' it has to be while driving in the car. I hate getting out until it's finished !

Gagagran I have just finished reading Claire Balding's autobiography and it is very good, really recommend it. I was reading it rather than watching football as our house is a football free zone

I've even ventured out of Soop's kitchen although I have to say the cake is less available 'out here' !!

Minimouse, I remember that Likely Lads episode, it was hilarious!

Number My OH is a Geordie and we've experienced similar in RL to a lesser degree, especially if I've known the final score ahead of him when he's watching on catchup!

Mrs P thinks I am 5 minutes behind RL all the time.

It must be a reaction to all the angst, doom and gloom G&Tea - wanting a bit of light-hearted relief.

Yes isn't it lovely GT The first time I posted on here, some months ago, I had one very ascerbic reply. I have always been a bit wary since then. I try hard not to upset anyone and to give positive comments. A bit of consideration,niceness and humour goes a long way

This afternoon we have watched about 2 hours of Some mothers do 'ave 'em. they are amongst our sons favourite dvds. (He came to us for lunch, and has to wait to be picked up and taken home). He also likes Mrs. Browns Boys, and the two could not be more diverse, could they? Not a foul word is spoken in Some Mothers, Mrs. B's is something other, and yet they both make us laugh (or at least they do me, in spite of the fact that I HATE bad language of any kind.) It is lovely to hear our son's cheerful chuckle, he has a great sense of fun.

I am avoiding any EU threads like the plague, just can't be doing with it any more.
Yes, a good idea to stick with the nicer more positive threads.
An old comedy show we sometimes watch is The Detectives with Jasper Carrot and Robert ? So funny.Have watched the Likely Lads recently, a bit on the dated side but still good.

IMO, if a GNer doesn't like a thread or is finding it boring, better to just ignore it and go elsewhere, rather than make derogatory remarks about it and kill the thread -- if you can't say something pleasant, don't say anything. just leave it for those that are enjoying it. If no one enjoys it, it will die a natural death.

roses still posting occasionally on those threads but more often than not go away singing 'Life is just a bowl of lemons'

Printmiss, we watched an episode of Mrs Brown`s Boys last night for the first time, loved it! Now wishing we`d watched it from the start, despite the language, I don`t like bad language either as a rule, but that programme was SO funny!

I had to stop posting on the political threads, I was becoming a miserable old git (well OK, more miserable than normal)
