Some of the old shows still bring a smile, don't they. I have no idea how long Dad's Army has been going, and although I now find some of it extremely stupid, it still brings a smile - we used to have an ARP warden who would tell us "don't panic". We weren't.

Is Mrs. Brown's Boys not a carbon copy of Bread? Watching Bread the other day due to Carla Lane dying, it seemed extremely similar if you think about it. Matriarch, boys, one girl, bolshy but caring mum, granddad. Watched The Liver Birds yesterday too, still funny.

We love Mrs. Brown's Boys. No matter how many times we watch the repeats (I think we know 'Mammy's Miracle' off by heart)we still find it hilarious.

It's a show with a big heart.

Mrs BB, it's the unscripted cock ups that are so funny. I hate bad language but the comedy overcomes my dislike, and it wouldn't be half as funny without it.

Printmiss, we watched an episode of Mrs Brown`s Boys last night for the first time, loved it! Now wishing we`d watched it from the start, despite the language, I don`t like bad language either as a rule, but that programme was SO funny!

IMO, if a GNer doesn't like a thread or is finding it boring, better to just ignore it and go elsewhere, rather than make derogatory remarks about it and kill the thread -- if you can't say something pleasant, don't say anything. just leave it for those that are enjoying it. If no one enjoys it, it will die a natural death.

I am avoiding any EU threads like the plague, just can't be doing with it any more.

An old comedy show we sometimes watch is The Detectives with Jasper Carrot and Robert ? So funny.Have watched the Likely Lads recently, a bit on the dated side but still good.

This afternoon we have watched about 2 hours of Some mothers do 'ave 'em. they are amongst our sons favourite dvds. (He came to us for lunch, and has to wait to be picked up and taken home). He also likes Mrs. Browns Boys, and the two could not be more diverse, could they? Not a foul word is spoken in Some Mothers, Mrs. B's is something other, and yet they both make us laugh (or at least they do me, in spite of the fact that I HATE bad language of any kind.) It is lovely to hear our son's cheerful chuckle, he has a great sense of fun.

Everything feels a bit more chilled and relaxed on GN at the moment.

Gagagran I have just finished reading Claire Balding's autobiography and it is very good, really recommend it. I was reading it rather than watching football as our house is a football free zone

Of all the places to listen to 'The Archers' it has to be while driving in the car. I hate getting out until it's finished !

DH and I went to GD's school play and wouldn't put the radio on while driving home. I sent him to watch the recording before looking at his phone or the computer.

Yes I've noticed this welcome change too. For the first time in ages there have been multiple threads that I've actually wanted to look at! A pleasant change from all the doom, gloom and irritability that seems to have dominated the forums for some time now.

WE were out all afternoon and recorded the match, deliberately tried not to know the score. Thought we would be safe in Tesco getting a few things. The store erupted when the second England goal went in, not sure where the game was showing in store. Hey Ho, best laid plans etc.
