What made you fall in love with comedy?
What has survived in your garden with minimal or no watering?
Both myself and my body are grumbling today....nothing major, but all my little niggles seem to have hit simultaneously this week. Back is still uncomfortable from last week's marathon to see Mr Springsteen ('nuff said on that topic), had two visual migraines this week, my post nasal drip/allergies are giving me a nasty, tight throaty cough so I sound like I'm on 40 Woodbine a day, still have dodgy innards from last lot of antibiotics (need to get onto probiotics), my sinuses are tender across my eyebrows and my light eruption rash hasn't quite gone. Sooooo can't be bothered dealing with all this.
We're off shortly for the weekend to see the small dgs - another 2.5 hour drive but with much better destination! Oh and we have to collect a cabin bed with a slide en route.
On the plus side the chest is clear, the panto script is finished, I've bought dgd's birthday present and the optician said I still don't need specs.
Off for cuppa before heading off....mutter, grumble, mutter.....

I feel grumpy most mornings GandT !
Does that make you "Happy" Lazigirl?
Had a foot op on Monday and was doing so (too?)well. Woke up this a.m with swollen achey ankle. Drat! Can't walk without effort and D.H is not as fast or as efficient at all the stuff that needs to be done. (Ungrateful cow aren't I?) I have no reason to moan, but it's one of those days.?
Strange......how did you know this year's panto was Snow White, GandTea ?
Oh no it isn't
Wish there was a groan emoticon!
Oh yes it is!
I was diagnosed with PD on New Years Eve and have not really come to terms with it. My DH is wonderful but I am depressed and lack any motivation. I have just had an MRI scan and am going for an X-ray next week because my left leg and foot are so painful when I walk even a short way. The only upside to my sciatic pains is how little money I spend because I cannot walk round the shops! I don't know whether pain is connected with the PD or not
When you get to 70, any day that nothing drops off or malfunctions, is a bonus!
That's reassuring, outofstep, I'll be 70 next year so I know what to look forward to.....
out of step
I'm 70 on Monday and I'm planning to go out, would I be better staying in just in case?
Any chance my spare tyre might drop off?
I know what you mean outofstep luckily nothing has dropped off yet, but Oh the malfunctions.
Be careful you don't take probiotic yogurts or drinks over a long period as they can produce an overgrowth of good bacteria and cause diarrhoea. They are fine to take after having antibiotics but for a short time only.
I'm grumpy too. It's World Gin Day today and I am on no alcohol allowed medication. And, outofstep everything is certainly dropping, but not off (yet)!!
LOL Gandtea! You have cheered me up. I am having a moany day myself. I wanted to go shopping, but felt too achey - I'm not sure which bit hurts most, so I'm staying in and having tea n'cake.

After many many days of feeling down,
low, even slightly depressed due to a health issue causing pain and misery....I am feeling pretty chipper today. Ive turned a corner and pain has turned to mild discomfort. Sorry if this offends but I also feel for the ladies on here who are not feeling chipper today.
I have taken 0% fat Original Actimel for years now and do miss it when I havent got any in the fridge !
Kaytek, for your posst-nasal drip/hacking throaty cough, have you ever been given a short dose of steroids. I suffered from this for years, The cough sounding like I'm a heavy smoker and waking me in the night, when a new doctor suggested I try a five day course of 6 steroid tablets per day and a (preventative) steroid inhaler which I take 2 puffs morning and night (which I have every day). The cough went as soon as I finished the steroids (such a small dose that there were no side effect). That was 2 years ago and, although it has come back twice, both times I have gone back to the doctor after having it for a couple of weeks and requested the steroids and each time it has gone. Perhaps worth mentioning to your doctor.
I have osteoporosis, an irregular heartbeat, high blood pressure, arthritis, IBS, heartburn and asthma. I take Warfarin (which gives me thread veins) and Digoxin for my heart and the doctor has just put me on tablets to slow down my heart rate and lower my blood pressure (and hopefully get my swollen ankles down to their correct size!) I also take Calcium and Vitamin D for the osteoporosis and Lanzoprazole for the heartburn. At the moment I am having an asthma attack, so, as well as my two regular inhalers, I am taking antibiotics and anti-histamines. I also take charcoal and peppermint tablets for the IBS and a probiotic, as well as Loperamide from time to time as needed.I have an injection every six months for the osteoporosis and last year I tripped on an uneven pavement and broke two bones in my wrist. I also had a foot operation (to remove a staple that was holding in a pin that was put in place when I had both my feet operated on to straighten my deformed toes.) I also had a complete knee replacement last year, which has made my leg nice and straight again but is causing more pain than before and given me a new pain as well. On the plus side, I am nice and slim and look years younger than my age and always dress nicely.I had my hair colour done yesterday! As my handsome, late, Greek father-in-law said about himself, "I look like a nice rosy apple on the outside but I'm rotten inside!
Good to have a moan from time to time!
PS I also have a gorgeous supportive husband and two beautiful daughters with lovely husbands and two dear little grandchildren, who are all fit and well, so I really shouldn't complain!
Tudorrose. Have just read your post and am so sorry. (Had to look up PD am afraid). Sympathy to all other posters going through hard time too. It's not much fun getting older and it helps to have a moan now and then, which is the joy of GN - there's always someone to commiserate and also to cheer you up.
Back from visiting the dgs and parents - shattered but happy. Was lovely to see them all. I have organised this week so it's less manic and I only have one commitment per day and I can try to rest and recover from my various grumbles! I was so sorry to read posts from others who are having a bit of a difficult time just now. I do hope all your various ailments have settled down a little. I'm in a quandary.....when do you stop trying to live as you've always done and achieve all you used to do, albeit taking a little longer and having to push through health issues? Is there ever a time to sit back and accept the fact that you're ageing or do we fight it? I'm afraid I've never been good at being kind to myself so I'm finding it hard to recognise if enough is enough sometimes.
Oh katek if you work that one out please share the recipe. I know I should pace things, but when my head says I can do it I tend to listen to it, no matter what my poor body is saying. ?
I've had a low day today, well, yesterday now. I'm sick of feeling this ill. I did then look up how long it takes for red blood cells to regenerate or whatever they do in anaemia and it is around four months! I wanted two weeks worth of iron tablets to have made a huge difference already! Impatient or what? I will just have to learn to be good to myself, which is very hard, but to take it easy and eat well and rest a lot to let my body recover. I just feel so useless, I've run my son ragged today fetching and carrying for me. The house will get reasonably straight (lots of changes going on at the moment) and then feet up for a couple of months while the tennis, football, cricket, olympics is on. If I seem like I am saying that I am doing stuff, you all have my permission to box my ears!
Thanks for the grumpy joke G&T. First laugh for several days now. Feel better for it.
