Poo on slippers

I too wear flip flops all summer - a garden pair always by the back door. I too think you made the right decision (unless they were very very expensive slippers). It's so funny how no one's taken a blind bit of notice of you ending the fabulously titled thread Jings!

Because most homes now have a no shoe policy I wear Crocs most of the time so I can slip them on and off easily and can wash them on a regular basis. Always keep old toothbrushes in case heavy duty cleaning is required.

I'd clean them, soak in bio washing powder/liquid overnight then bung in the washing machine.
Surely even fox poo won't withstand that?

If you seriously think it is fox poo, and that fox poo is a potential hazard, is your DD aware of this and does she have children/ pets/husband/visitors that could bring it into the house?

What IS the problem? Marigolds on, good scrub...try carpet cleaner on the fabric then dry in the sun, the best disinfectant. WHY is everyone so precious/squeamish about a bit of shit? Try living on a farm.

I suppose we're more laissez-faire about bringing any kind of dirt into the house because we have tiled floors - no carpets or mats.

Has anyone mentioned why fox poo is supposed to be worse than others? I'd have recoiled more at dog poo myself.

As someone brought up in the country, I'm with you there, oldgaijin! My best friend lived on the farm across the road and nobody fussed about what we were trailing back into our pub every day. I seem to remember that the chicken sh** smelt worse than the pig sh**.

Probably annoy everyone with this but I accompany my dogs into the garden and watch what they do and where they do it. I pick it up and bin it. I don't leave it for unsuspecting feet to find. Poo bags are cheap. I don't leave my dogs to their own devices in the garden. Tricky perhaps, when you have babies but essential when they start toddling outside. That's why I now have my daughter's dog living with me. I agree about fox poo. Luckily we don't see them here although there are plenty of rabbits and the occasional hedgehog.

Bella Fox poo stinks to high heaven and no amount of washing gets rid of the smell.

DD has no dogs and no cat. Never see a cat in her garden, but do see foxes. That's definitely hat it was, and they are staying in the bin.

I don't have to hide the purchase from DH. But if I told him he would no doubt get them out of the bin and clean them. In my kitchen sink. No thank you.

I definitely wouldn't walk round a farmyard in my slippers. That would be too much. Even for this idiot me.

I love those granny slippers with the pom poms on. When I was really young [30's'ish]I sed to buy them I wonder if you can still get them as I'm wanting a pair again now.

Fox is the most likely culprit. If I'd had slippers festering in the shed for several days, I'd be inclined to wrap them up in several more plastic bags and bin them immediately. The stink by now will be disgusting.

Oops! DH has just notice the bag in the bottom of the bin. I have had to confess. He has left them there, but the words "Gordon Bennett!" were amongst his mutterings.

I had a smartly dressed colleague who always insisted that if her children stood in dog poo, she would throw their shoes away. One afternoon our office was filled with an overwhelming pong of dog poo. Who was the culprit? None other than our fussy friend who had managed to plaster it over the rungs of her chair too. Do you think she threw her posh shoes away? No chance!
