I have been a member and regular contributor to GN since its inception, many of you will know me as Pompa.

I have always tried to be helpful to those that need it where my skills are appropriate. I have always been compassionate to those in trouble and always tried to inject a little humour into my posts.

I am not racist, feminist or any other form of ist (perhaps a bit of a pessimist now)

In all the years I have been here I have not knowingly been reported.

But I have now been reported ( I guess for racism because of my humorous thread in the Gardening forum regarding immigrant Spanish slugs.

GN is no longer the great site it used to be, it has become very unpleasant on many threads, dominated by a few posters.

Many GNers are now afraid to post for fear of verbal retribution.

Humour that is in the least edgy is condemned by a few.

Please, please will those Gners that want GN to become the fun site that it was again please speak up.

I am now leaving GN, I'm sure that there are those that are now cheering as they have won, but to the rest of my friends,
Love
Pompa

Hang on; HQ haven't said the thread must be deleted [or have I misread something?]. They just said that it had been reported.Didn't they??

Blinko Mon 06-Jun-16 20:01:12

Cheers, jbf, I didn't know that.

aggie Mon 06-Jun-16 20:01:56

Sigh !!..... I thought the "Immigrants" thread was about Spanish bluebells too !! , I never even thought for one minute of it being a contentious thread .... sigh . Pompa I would miss your input so do try and stay !! pretty please xxx

Nannylovesshopping Mon 06-Jun-16 20:03:49

Please stay pompa, I love your inputsmile

rosesarered Mon 06-Jun-16 20:05:33

Oh good, sounds as if HQ ARE thinking again, quite right too. posters need to start actually reading posts before they blow their whistle.

Greyduster Mon 06-Jun-16 20:06:44

roses that was my first thought too! Please don't go Pompa. Ignore the small minded. We need your wit and your common sense. Can't rely on me for either!

Pittcity Mon 06-Jun-16 20:35:50

Please stay GandTea, the world is a miserable enough place as it is, we need as much joy and silliness as we can get.

baubles Mon 06-Jun-16 20:47:58

I haven't seen the thread in question but will have a look in a moment. I just want to say don't go GT.
I wondered where Pompa had got to, glad to see you're still here.

granjura Mon 06-Jun-16 20:58:23

Of course don't go. I realised you were an 'old' poster re-incarnate, but wasn't sure which. Why did you change name?

I know some will sayI've said it before, but the rules of GN say clearly it is not allowed to change names with a good explanation. Some here have changed so many times- and there are a few 'new' posters recently who are clearly 'old' posters- their message and style makes it very clear who they are. Spots and stripes do not change.

Hope you stay.

baubles Mon 06-Jun-16 21:02:36

Ok I've read the thread and can only wonder what on earth is wrong with some people. Whoever reported it should take a hard look at themselves. Unbelievable!

trisher Mon 06-Jun-16 21:03:31

*Pompa/Gandtea never knew you were the same person!! We have sometimes disagreed, but I respect your views and your slug thread was great. Please stay on. Maybe you can think of some more titles that will cause shock and horror and give us a giggle.

Luckygirl Mon 06-Jun-16 21:06:52

Pompa - I had a post reported and deleted a while ago. That was fine by me - someone interpreted something I had posted in a way that I would not have thought of (very innocent me!).

There's nowt so queer as folk - just be a duck and let the water flow by!

Do not go! Stay and keep us all amused - I need a bit of light relief now and again.

Ana Mon 06-Jun-16 21:13:21

granjura, Pompa didn't have two names. He left GN and came back again later. You do seem to have a bee in your bonnet about name-changes on here! confused

grumppa Mon 06-Jun-16 21:19:59

Don't go! We men on Gransnet need each other, if only to counterbalance the monstrous regiment of women (ducks for cover and awaits being reported).

granjura Mon 06-Jun-16 21:37:39

Never talked about 2 names, but about so many changing names, again and again for some. Here is what the GN rules say, and I totally agree. Not having a go at GT, but the basic principle- for the reasons GN state:

*Username-changing

We don’t allow members to change their usernames because we want everyone to be able to trust the relationships they build up with others on Gransnet.*

I certainly hope GN does not leave.

Alea Mon 06-Jun-16 21:39:12

??

Charleygirl Mon 06-Jun-16 21:46:01

grumppa you had better stay behind that sofa! A monstrous regiment of women? Excuse me but the vast majority of us are sweet and lovely!!!!

merlotgran Mon 06-Jun-16 21:47:39

we want everyone to be able to trust the relationships they build up with others on Gransnet.

I think today has proved that statement to be a bit of a pipe dream.

Alea Mon 06-Jun-16 21:53:36

juragran in Greatnan's day, granjura today.
Several GNetters have left and rejoined over the years for a variety of reasons including compromised anonymity and as you are not allowed to have the same name a second time their name has perforce had to change.
I know what you are going to retort granjura!so you can save your breath to cool your porridge. Some people can't see a bonnet without adding the requisite bee.
And whatever do you mean
iI certainly hope GN does not leave?

granjura Mon 06-Jun-16 21:58:23

In what way Merlot?

We can disagree, even strongly, at times- but this has nothing to do with trust as such. New names appear with views and styles which really remind you of someone- and you keep wondering 'who on earth is this person actually, from before'.

You are who you are, and it will always come out, somehow.

Again, this is not specifically about GT(not GN sorry) - but it seemed the obvious place to say this (yes i know, again- because it keeps happening). It also leads to many pms re 'you do realise who this is, who used to be x, and before that y...

NotTooOld Mon 06-Jun-16 22:00:01

What's going on? People changing names - Pompa becoming GandTea, accusations of racism, letters to phoenix's boss, nasty e-mails - I didn't know all this stuff was going on? Anyway, Pompa, don't dare hang up your laptop and leave us all to it, we need you!!!

granjura Mon 06-Jun-16 22:01:27

As you well know, the switch was just an 'accident' and fooled no-one. If I wanted to fool anyone- I wouldn't have just switched the jura and the gran, really!

There are some here who have had at least 3 totally different names since I joined and possibly more.

POGS Mon 06-Jun-16 22:02:08

A ha, I wondered who Gandtea was.

Some people simply don't comprehend humour. Some people just like finding upset where none was intended. Some people will walk a mile barefoot over hot coals just to say they feel hurt.

The thing is Gandtea/pompa, when you look in a mirror you won't see that person looking back! Ignore the 'some people' they are not worth it . wine

NotTooOld Mon 06-Jun-16 22:06:32

Hear, hear! [wie] wine wine

NotTooOld Mon 06-Jun-16 22:07:10
