Tupperware parties.

The container with 3 sections is a Suzette which is a smaller version of a party Susan which has 6 sections.

Well this is going back a bit but I was a Tupperware Lady in the 60s. I needed to earn money and said I would do it. in those days your job was to get people to have parties as the Tupperware, once you had built it up and made a nice display sold itself.
I had no car then and couldn't drive anyway and carried the Tupper ware around in a large suitcase on the bus or the tram. I managed to get a couple of people to make a date for a party so it built up and I was going around the area giving Tupper Parties several nights a week and delivering at weekends.
I had to buy the suitcase full of basic Tupperware which I still have, mostly with flour or sugar in. The others, some i really love, have been replaced. The suitcase came with me to Germany and now has the dressing up clothes in it as it is light and roomy.
Gradually there was no one else to go to and I stopped and bought myself a brown suede coat with the profits.
The main plus were the skills I learned. Standing in front of a group of people and talking myself through the sales pitch, observing people to see who would give the next party and cornering them and selling them the idea! It was hard work but profitable. Then of course and this earned points, to get someone interested in the idea of being a Tupper Lady.

I think it is still going in Germany my DDs have some, but it is not so popular.

Oh, yes, Lazy Susan, not Party Susan.

My Mum was a Tupperware dealer and I still have some of her demonstration stuff which must be getting on for 50 years old. I think it was all guaranteed for 10 years anyway. Does anyone remember their toys? There was a shape sorter ball which my first husband and I used to time each other putting the shapes in. I think we had more fun with it than the children did. I also loved the Pippa Dee parties. Their pyjama's and nighties were lovely and such good quality especially the children's ones.

I thought a lazy Susan was a thing that you could move round on a base. I had a look on eBay and this is the thing I meant -
The only thing putting me off buying one is that it is used.

Yes, we have a Lazy Susan which is a wooden disc with a hole in the middle, which matches our patio table, sits in the middle of it so you can put the condiments on it and whiz it around to everyone (hoping they don't fall off if the DGC whiz it too hard)

It depends what it is I think granjura - Tupperware which I bought nearly 50 years ago is still being used (although perhaps not stylish, but it is in a cupboard!). The butter and cheese containers in daily use must be 40 years old. Vintage, like me
whereas other plastic boxes, even so-called 'good makes' have split after a couple of years' use.

hulahoop I also had round shape sorter it was better than you can get now I still have egg shaped thingy to lift out eggs from water when boiled think it was a free gift .

I wish I had kept the shape sorter, it was brilliant and lasted for all three DC and would have still been as good as new for DGC.

However - I still have the thingy to lift the boiled eggs out which is used every time we have them. Yes, it was a 'free gift'.

I used lunch bowls that had lids for years to take salads to work, and I still use little pots that seal so well you can put milk and sugar in them an know they will not leak, can not find anything similar now and I must have had them for 40 years.

I went to a party at a neighbours recently that was a fun raiser, it was a selling and tasting party for spices and flavouring from an Australian firm hoping to establish a network over here, interesting mixes but expensive. It was nice to see neighbours and chat for an evening as in a rural area we usually wave at each other from cars.

I think this thread may have jinxed me. I have a Tupperware measuring jug, it must be the best part of 40 years old and I use it nearly every day. This morning we noticed a leak, oh no, what do we do now?

Jalima. The party/lazy Susan was a large thing with about 8 segments. The smaller one with 3 segments was called a Suzette. Ex-dealer!

Brilliant idea Jalima, would love to visit Australia to combine it with a jug buying expedition but maybe not just yet. I have seen a picture of said jug on line. It is described as vintage. You don't say! DH is currently having a bash at "welding" (for want of a better word) over the crack to seal it. Meanwhile have ordered a poor imitation from Lakeland.

PS: The welding didn't work.

I used to run Tupperware parties, it was quite lucrative ! You see it often at carboot sales now. I have bought a few things. I remember Party Susan being the must have, for the modern housewife. I had completely forgotten about Pippa Dee. I bought a bright orange baby doll nightie, those wear the days!!

We had, when newly married, the egg shaker in orange, which was brilliant. Enjoyed thinking about the vintage kitchenware.
