False Accident Claim!

I am just so angry I just need to rant to someone :-)

My son and his wife had just left our house and were putting our baby son into his car seat. A taxi then turned into the road, as he could not wait for our DIL to finish he drove past at I add quite a speed and as such hit their car door with his wing mirror.

The Eastern European driver admitted he was at fault. But he would only give my son his Name.

My son contacted the taxi firm to ask for the drivers details but they refused to give them to him. He then contacted the Police only to be told as there were no major injuries there was nothing they could do. As his excess is £250 he decided it would be cheaper for him to just get the repair work done to his car.

He thought that was the end of the matter even though he was angry he had to pay out for this driver’s reckless driving. So as you can imagine how shocked he was to receive a call from his insurers informing him the taxi driver was making a claim against him!

I really cannot believe the cheek of some people!! angry

Thank you lam64 for making me feel better. That sounded like an awful situation you had! We have a taxi firm here that now advertises themselves as a company with no foreign drivers not sure how they can get away with that with the PC police though.

But I must admit last year my husband and I had a Romanian taxi driver that we could not wait to get of the taxi at our house. He said that if he wasn't taxiing in the UK he would most probably be "dealing drugs or murdering people back home!"

I no longer let my daughter go in a taxi by herself. We have had way too many occurrences of taxi drivers assaulting young girls in our city. And I am only stating a fact as it is documented in the papers here and personal knowledge . The majority of which have been Indian/Pakistani drivers. One young girl was a friends daughter.

I do not by all means put all taxi drivers in one basket. There are good and bad regardless of nationality. We have had some British ones that have been so rude!
