Ana Thu 21-Apr-16 18:29:03

What???! Goodness, this is a very bad year...sad

KatyK Thu 21-Apr-16 18:29:34

It's not good is it?

tanith Thu 21-Apr-16 18:30:39

Good grief and so it goes on he was only 57..

whitewave Thu 21-Apr-16 18:35:01

Strewth me assholes as my grandmother used to say. Maybe we are getting it all over with in the first half of the year.

TerriBull Thu 21-Apr-16 18:41:04

According to The Times there have been as many celebrity deaths thus far this year as there were for the entire year in 2015.

Prince was a talented composer and performer, I loved 1999 what a great song for The Millennium. He was only 57, flu apparently, never under estimate flu.

wot Thu 21-Apr-16 18:43:26

Bloody hell, I can't believe it

Alea Thu 21-Apr-16 18:46:13

Flu??

NanKate Thu 21-Apr-16 19:43:34

I liked his quirky music.

We must make the most of every day we have, there may not be a tomorrow.

Anniebach Thu 21-Apr-16 19:49:26

So young, I have never heard him but listening to the news he was very popular, poor man to die so young

Jalima Thu 21-Apr-16 20:05:29

Not my type of music, but oh dear, that is far too young to die.

M0nica Thu 21-Apr-16 20:10:35

One of the newspapers listed all the famous people who had died this year, from David Bowie and Alan Rickman, and now Victoria Wood as well as people like Denise Robertson and Ronnie Corbett. There were about 12 people on the list and about 9 of of them were young than DH and me. We are 72!

DH is beginning to get intimations of mortality and feel quite down, even though he is in reasonable health.

Was it Prince that did 'When Doves Cry'? I really like that song.

Ana Thu 21-Apr-16 20:41:41

Yes, it was, wot. And I have 'Raspberry Beret' going round and round in my head at the moment!

rosesarered Thu 21-Apr-16 20:58:42

Yes, the intimations of mortality thing!?
I used to admire an old Aunt and Uncle I had, who carried on as though they were going to live forever, thought they had the right idea.

TerriBull Thu 21-Apr-16 21:02:55

I've been googling him, didn't realise he wrote "Nothing compares to u" I loved that, he wrote so many great songs, many recorded by others.

Tegan Thu 21-Apr-16 21:19:11

I only found that out recently. I think I prefer the songs he wrote for other people.

Tegan Thu 21-Apr-16 21:20:10

Manic Monday is another of his.

HannahLoisLuke Thu 21-Apr-16 22:46:55

Purple Rain is still my favourite. His guitar work on that is mesmerising. Fascinating, mysterious, sexy little elf. Gone too soon.

merlotgran Thu 21-Apr-16 23:00:19

Nothing Compares 2 U - Sinead O'Connor. My all time favourite song written by Prince.

Not a lot of people remember he was in this line up.

Janeoakey Thu 21-Apr-16 23:16:27

Anybody still up

wot Thu 21-Apr-16 23:26:44

Yes, I'm still up!

wot Thu 21-Apr-16 23:28:00

I think he had a relationship with Sheena Easton .

wot Thu 21-Apr-16 23:29:31

He was similar to Terence Trent Darby. Another little sexy beast!? sign your name across my heart.....
