You know when you wake up and the tail end of a dream is still in your mind and it takes a minute or two to realise that it was 'only' a dream? Well that happened to me this morning and on reflection I can understand where all the elements came from ( a recent visit to the sheriff court, forthcoming Gala, local history group archiving records from local Golf Club) but I am still chortling and thought I would share.
So, apparently my sister and I had been organising (with numerous difficulties) a parade round the village finishing up in the park for the Gala. The Local Authorities had demanded, at the last minute, that we submit a list of fine upstanding citizens to act as stewards for the parade. My sister produced a list of the senior members (including my father and his cronies) of the local Golf Club complete with names, addresses and dates of birth and said that they had agreed to act as stewards. The official took a cursory look and remarked that some of them would be nearly 100 yrs old but sister replied that they were all very fit, playing golf every day.
As we left the building, the rain came on which woke me up. The last thing I remember was my sister laughing and saying "100 years old?' - they've all been dead for 20 odd years!"

. Last night it was something about an actor called Alan something. His second name was really unusual, and stupidly unlikely, something like Retbit or Rogwind. He was very famous and I spotted him playing a part in an old film when he was a young child and was saying, 'gosh, can't you still see it's him - that shock of red hair!' God knows what that was all about
