A good job that the pair of you live where you do and do not have any folk passing by. That really must have been a sight for sore eyes! I agree, soop you would have been stuck in there. You must get it repaired asap or I can see a nasty accident happening.

MacSporran plans to change the latch asap. To be honest, the door handle never was on straight. During our house build, we had to employ a few locals who botched up a few minor details, such as the latch. MacS is a retired architect. How he managed to remain level-headed when confronted with (what I term) slip-shoddiness, amazed me. He also maintained that he could, somewhere down the line, correct the details that were irksome. Hence, for 13 years we've lived with a wonky door latch.

In the big scheme of things...nothing to lose sleep over. Except of course had there been no-one home to rescue him or me.

I'm feeling a little more 'chilled' this evening. One of the house viewings was quite positive and an offer was made!

My son's eyes were both swollen and both had to be injected. This was due to the fact that his (very large) file of notes has been lost!
No appointment letter was sent and instead of five weeks between visits, it was six, resulting in a deterioration in his condition! However, it's not too serious as long as it doesn't happen again next time, which we will both be keeping a check on.
We consoled ourselves with a yummy lunch at the Chinese restaurant over the Chinese supermarket. It is where all the Chinese families eat and is very authentic. ???

Oh dear soop, I'm ashamed to say that had I been stuck in there then MacSporran would have to get Michael Caine to come and ' blow the b----y door off' as no way could my derriere pass through a small window.

The botch job comment reminded me of the time hubby decorated our lounge. The coving wouldn't stick in one patch so he held it up with 3, 6" nails, they stayed up there for about, I kid you not , 15 years as we forgot all about them until a friend asked why they were there. .

Ain't Mr Mac just a treasure.

Back to a grey day today . Where is that sunshine I need?

soop the picture you painted of what I must refer to as 'The Window Incident' made me chuckle. Oh to have been there with a camera !!! For the sake of my ever expanding waistline we had neither popcorn or sweets and felt most righteous at the cinema . All our good work blown out of the water by the arrival last night with DD2 of 2 slices of cake made by our little 4 year old baker ! Picture attached .

Now that is a powerful name for a young man soop I have no doubt he'll be in charge of something in years to come !!

Lona a positive start to the house sale process though . Where there's one offer there bound to be more. Fingers crossed.

Kitty we need to downsize and want/need to move from Essex to Norfolk. We have put it off once as our youngest daughter was upset but the time is fast approaching where we must go or stay here forever . Its hard for her as we live very close and they will likely live here in this town forever . We ended up here by default and feel that our final home should be somewhere of our choosing . So we're putting in the groundwork now getting the house ready for sale....but who knows what the future will bring.

Eddie the Eagle yesterday was huge fun and well worth a watch , Today is our swimming day with DGS3 and then as the café at the gym is being refurbished we will be heading off to the local Tesco for a snack ( and probably the purchase of a new dinky car for the little one ) !!

What a delightful pair of happy young chaps.

I started a great clear out yesterday so of course there is hardly any floor on which I can walk. I must get it sorted (bags thrown back in cupboard but in a tidier fashion). I have got rid of loads of paperwork and found some items I had forgotten about- a lovely brand new black leather handbag.

My cleaner is coming today for the last time although she does not know that yet. There is as much dust in the house as in the hoover bag! Nothing is moved and I am certain she thinks because I am in my early 70's that I do not notice- so wrong.

It's awfully damp and grey outside. The wee new lambs in the nearby fields will need to snuggle up close to Mum.

A warm welcome to Nannylovesshopping. Make yourself comfortable. Us lot (on the whole) are easy-going. Our virtual kitchen is open all hours. Chores are banned. Cake is calorie-free. (Hugs) are plentiful. The resident cat - Rory, is friendly providing his tartan rug remains available should he wish to loll upon it

Your son must have been really uncomfortable before the treatment. Is it a form of Glaucoma? Isn't it maddening that essential notes go on walkabout? As you may recall, I was seen by a colo-rectal specialist on November 11th. I was referred to another individual but the appointment didn't come through. Our GP has been making noises ever since...and, I have a recent letter from the initial consultant to say...'I enjoyed meeting you on November 11th...you will be admitted to hospital for a further procedure before June...' Patience is a virtue.

Charleyg Your cleaner appears to have blotted her copy-book. I've been employed by a number of people (back when I was fit) to regularly clean a variety of homes, some vast, some not so. I took pride in doing my very best.

Charleyg My late father was fond of saying...if a job's worth doing, it's worth doing well. He was known to "botch" on rare occasions. In fact, when he did so, he made a thoroughly spectacular mess of things.

Lona my son is married to a wonderful Chinese girl and they had a traditional wedding meal in the Chinese area of Manchester - it was an experience!

My OH is a "if a job's worth doing, it's worth doing well' but his father was a 'bodgit and scarper' person! So different.

Grey and damp here again! Think we will be able to sail a boat on our lawn soon.

Hello again, Tizliz ...it's good to see you in the kitchen.
On special occasions, when we lived in Cornwall, MacS and I used to book a table in a superb Chinese restaurant in Grampound, which is between Truro and St Austell. The ambience, service and food was impeccable.
The son of great friends of ours has become engaged to a Chinese girl. She's an architect (as is he) and an accomplished ballerina. Chances are, if we're invited to the wedding, we may yet experience a traditional Chinese wedding meal.
A pal who lives close by, has had two T shirts made with the slogan "bodgit and scarper". Whenever he and his pal get together to decorate the guest house, they wear their shirts with tongue-in-the-cheek pride.

A Chinese meal for Chinese is VERY different from the Chinese restaurants we usually go to. New DIL sat next to OH and picked out the bits she thought he would like - no duck's feet etc. Any food not eaten on one table was passed round to other tables. Each table paid for themselves and I understand it was very expensive and some Chinese would only have a banquet like this a few times in their lives. We had to go round to each table and have a drink with them. Our son warned us and provided glasses with Coke in otherwise we would have been too drunk. Very proud of son who ate everything and used chop sticks, he can't learn Chinese though. They now have a lovely little girl.

This restaurant isn't in the China town area, it's near to the eye hospital, so when we come out it's very easy to be tempted!

What a horrible morning it's been! I was getting ready to walk down to a local coffee bar to meet a friend, then we had a really vicious hail storm. So I took the car and also paid a visit to Aldi which sells lovely dark chocolate bars with lots of hazelnuts. I shouldn't really know that! Just now there's a blink of sunlight but by the look of the clouds, it's not here to stay. And the wind is bitter! Yet the tiny red leaves on my ornamental malus are gradually covering the branches and I look forward to the pretty pink blossoms.

anno The sky in Kintyre is granite grey. It is chilly. The waves are whit-capped.
I like the sound of the dark chocolate with hazelnuts. I've a fondness for all nuts...especially walnuts.

I'm trying to urge myself up and out of the computer chair. Energy levels need a boost. Do I return to rootling in the wardrobe? I'm uncertain. I shall perhaps choose the clobber that I hope to take to Sussex when we next visit Torben. The very thought of seeing him puts a spring in my step.

I'd love to watch the white caps on the sea. I loved a brisk breeze when I lived on the Firth of Clyde and walked the dog on the shore after school.

soop your memory is letting you down. Did I not tell you to rest? Does that include sorting out your wardrobe? No but it is a darn sight better to clearing the great outdoors.

Glad to hear that you are feeling better but as you know, Rory has the right attitude to this life- many zzzs throughout the day.

I said originally that I think Tortoiseshell will have her paws under the table by the end of July.
