I'm therefore closing the door and reopening our new kitchen extension.

We are almost at the point when we need to settle into our new extension.

This afternoon, a tea party is to be held in the village hall. A local lady is leaving to retire in Glasgow, having been a teacher here for many years. She's to be presented with a gift from the villagers.

We walked through the village this morning. The enterprising local school children have set up a kiosk library. Borrow, swap or buy a book for a donation in the honesty box. Photos below.

Just before I went into labour with my first born, I scrubbed the kitchen floor. My mother peered around the door and said...not long now! Apparently, she believed that I was preparing the nest...

Loopylou Yes, we are all so very fortunate. I couldn't wish for dearer, kinder, grandchildren.

Yay! ...bouncing through the kitchen door to play catch-up with all our wonderful Kitcheners.

A bottle of Champagne chilling. We'll wet Loopylou's grandson's head when we open the new extension. And...we'll have plenty of bottles chilling for the other wee arrivals. Dearest Alea...I'm so excited. The baby will almost certainly arrive by the end of today. I can feel it in my water.

Oh you must have had such a worrying time loopy! Could not be more pleased that it has all turned out right in the end. I had an emergency C section at midnight with my first baby after induction and a totally unproductive labour, the girls were born by elective section at 38 weeks and it was reassuring to know there was a full paediatric team on hand as well as a rested surgeon and nurses (9.am) !!
Surely nature could have designed a more efficient system? Pandas, for instance, they pop out babies about the size of a hamster, I am surprised they even notice they have had a baby!!

Thank you everyone! He's doing very well all thing considered (failed induction because DDIL had developed complications) so caesarean delivery. He's very laid back (unlike his gorgeous brother at that age who yelled pretty much all the time !?)
What beautiful grandchildren, aren't we all lucky?
Here's to hoping the reticent baby makes an appearance soon Alea, I was on tenterhooks too! (What the heck are tenterhooks?)

Galen that is great, that will be the 3rd baby. It sounds as though you are going to have a busy day today.

NanaandGrampy that is a lovely family photo and those children are having the time of their lives, loving the swimming pool. By the end of the holiday you will have budding mini Olympic swimmers.

Looks like we're in for a bit more of a wait. They went off to hospital about 2 this morning but DD only 2cm dilated. However, , concerned about how tired she was they offered a bed as well as pain relief. I find that very kind and caring don't you?As it turned out , DD decided home would be more restful so back they went plus pain relief about 4.30. I believe they have both managed some sleep since. She has assured us via her sister who is "in charge of communications" that she is "not intending to put her body through anything it is too tired to cope with" which I hope means that if intervention is necessary she won't insist on the hypnobirthing techniques she has been learning.

Charleyg my darling daughter is due end of of July. She and the two youngsters should be here in an hour! No more GN for me today.

Just popped in quickly to see if there was any baby news. Alea I play cookie jam too. I get quite frustrated with it at times. I will pop back later to see if there's any news. Have you told them there's a whole GN thread hanging on waiting...waiting..

Oh how I feel for you Alea as I said at the time I did hope you wouldn't have the wait we had. It is so hard waiting for that phone to ring.

YOUR fingers are crossed? I'm wondering if DD's legs are crossed! (And "edgy" doesn't come close.)
So as you might gather there seems to be no action and there has been no communication from London. After a night of 15 minute naps I think I slept from 3-5, made a cuppa then slept till nearly 7. There is only so much "Cookie Jam" a person can play and I am rubbish at Candy Crush.
I have read the paper from front to back and back again ( depressing stuff) , BBC news and a biography of Margot Asquith. If you don't hink our politicians lead rackety lives, and Lloyd George and Asquith make them look like saints.

I am thinking annsixty's timescale might be the most realistic.

Morning all - well, I've looked but can't find a new baby anywhere. I don't know how you are doing Alea but I'm getting edgy now.

Lovely photos nandg. We have our two eldest dgc today and I am taking them to a Lego session at the library which is always organised bedlam!

Talk of donuts reminds me that I bought some gf ones and I must get them out of the freezer.

soop doughnuts a plenty !! Grampy had a Boston dream confection, I was more sedate with a ring doughnut with sprinkles... Not a jam one in sight!! We explained about them and the lady was quite surprised !!

He is sensibly planning to taxi in from where they live in East London and hang the expense. When SIL1 (who is a VERY sensible, competent person in every respect) , was driving DD to Birmingham Women's in the wee small hours it was lucky the roads were deserted. I think prospective fathers might be aexcused being a bit jittery under the circumstances!
