Tara popped home for a bite of luncheon and decided to have 40 winks. The call of the wild was too great so she is out again.

NanaandGrampy - the children are having the time of their lives- the way that it should be. That sort of exercise is free and is just as enjoyable. I am assuming that they are brother and sister?

Galen glad to hear that the bluetits will have a warm, comfortable nest tonight.

Alea I am assuming that the house is Grace's again now that Basil has returned home. She will be able to catch up with much needed sleep.

Happy birthday for yesterday to your granddaughter soop. I hope she had a lovely day. Sounds like you have fallen foul of a bug for a second time , don't dismiss it - tricky old things these bugs ! So take care of yourself.

Galen you did make me smile ! I too have a fair Arabic vocabulary of swear words, having been a navy brat and stationed with my Mother and Father in some far flung places. As a child I just spoke whatever language was native to the place we were stationed. My Maltese is fair too {smile]. I'm envious of your feed into the birds nest - how fascinating is that ? Would certainly keep me in the kitchen longer !!

Charleygirl yes they are brother and sister -9 and 6. A real pair of livewires. We had such a lovely 2 days with them it makes it all the more sad when I read some threads on Gransnet of estranged grandchildren and god forbid children. I honestly can't imagine it. Luckily, my daughters - no matter what- would never stop me seeing my little ones. My daughters grew up with a good relationship with both my Mum and my Gran and see the value in it.

Well, its a waiting about day . Furniture to be collected by the British Heart Foundation and such. So I am off to craft photo booth props for a Disney Hen Party !

Good morning - I have sat around waiting for the lady from the Mercy in Action shop to collect 7 large bags of assorted garments. At least somebody is benefiting from my going up a dress size! Also, since going white, some things simply don't suit me any more so why clutter the place up? I wish I could be more radical, but I (foolishly) get sentimentally attached to clothes I have bought or worn for special occasions.
It's a great Charity, doing real work in the Phillippines especially with mothers and babies and children.
DH is still coughing 7+ weeks on. I think he caught a cold from Pippa at the beginning of February and although he had his chest listened to about 4 weeks ago, there is no discernible improvement.
I sincerely hope you soop and grannylyn and harrigran are looking after yourselves. Now is not the time for martyrdom!!

I had a lovely day with the family yesterday. DD is on the Eurostar back to Brussels today thankfully her Helsinki flight is cancelled tomorrow but next week she is in Poland and then on to Washington. I think these are difficult times to have DC living and working in another country.

Charleyg I'm really not improving. Managed to recover from the first bug (thanks to antibiotics) and then succumbed to a second dose of something equally nasty. Yet another doctor's appointment if I feel no better tomorrow.

I'm glad to hear you're thinking of going back to the doctor soop. You have twice the energy I have usually despite the fact I think you might have a few years on me so its usually I who envy's you.

Do take care of yourselves as I would miss you here and also the lovely images from your windows. AND of course you have a visit to make in a few weeks for which you need to be well.

Alea I should do a wardrobe clear-out too. I got rid of all my suits and work clothes and shoes 2 years ago but I do have a plethora of stuff in many sizes that I should part with. My daughter recommended turning all the hangers the wrong way round and then when you wear something turn the hanger right way round. In 4 weeks anything still wrong way round is either the wrong season, special occasion or OUT !

NanaandGrampy I have an appointment for tomorrow afternoon. Sorry to be a wimp. You are right...the visit to see Torben edges ever closer (albeit a month away) and I cannot afford to feel off-colour, if we're to have fun.

As for impractical clothing and the long-term treasuring/hording thereof...what I really need is a small boutique in which I can display and possibly sell some of my redundant clobber finery. I did sell almost £60 worth of items on Ebay within the last month. Do you remember that my first sale was £1.99? Thing is, I'm just not in the right frame of mind to continue down that route. The ladies in the Red Cross shop are most welcome to have more of my unworn "favourites"...we're now on first name terms.

soop, do go back. I'm into week 8 of a diabolical cough and finally the GP agreed that at this point antibiotics would help. Three days into the course and I've noticed no difference. I feel truly exhausted from all the coughing and have to stop two or three times on the stairs as I'm so breathless. No appetite to speak of and zero energy. If your tabs helped you last time then do see the doc for another course.. I'm sure we will all feel better in time but there are times when I think I'll never be the same again. Then I hear, both on here and in RL, that numerous people have had weeks of the thing and it does finally go. Roll on some nice long lasting sunny weather and a return to good health for everyonebuggered visited by this bug.?

bellanonna , galen, soop, , grannylyn your description of your lurgy exactly matches the impression I get of how DH is these days. I do feel for you, he at least has me to provide the 100% backup so that he barely has to do more than lift his own teacup.
Poorly people in the kitchen all sound as if you need a tonic - remember those? My MIL used to swear by something (I think) Swiss and presumably wild flowery, Floradix or some such. Do people still take tonics? How about Buckfast tonic (hic!)

Morning all, I'm off out early to take my son to the eye hospital and I've been awake for hours again! Now my house is on the market, I'm feeling more and more anxious. As an adult, I've moved nine times already so it's not as though I don't know what to do, but I feel so desperate to get it all over with. I keep telling myself that it's "an adventure" but it's not working!

Lona hope all goes well with your son. I had my monthly injection last evening and it was as " OK" as it could be. I may be transferring my treatment to Manchester eye H. I see Prof Aslam in 2 weeks.

Ales I have just seen your post. Floradix is very popular still but has a lot of iron in its formula. May not suit some but lots of "followers"

soop I'm glad to hear you popped off to the doc. Looking at some posts this bug lingers so best to get treatment early ( and often ) if needs be. I love your grandsons name ! Isn't it funny how you visualise a person through their name - its a good strong name.

Lona I'm sorry to hear your move is not quite in the adventure zone. We cleared the dining room a couple of days ago and as a taste of the packing and planning required for our inevitable move it was horrid ! ( I shall be enlarging my patio for burying Himself if we have to do too much packing together ). I've only moved 5 times in the last 35 years but oh how we have increased our 'stuff' . Its funny because as a Navy brat we moved about 12 times before I was 15 and I don't remember it being an issue ( Thanks Mum !!)

I hope for a quick and easy sale for you ! Have you a new place in mind?

I am taking advantage of the sun here as it is not supposed to last for long. It is not very warm but the washing is drying, that is all that I care about at present.

I am lucky that I have not picked up this lurgy over the net from you lot. I can easily make tea or coffee and sort out the cakes for all you poorly people.

Hello dear Kitcheners...the sun is shining. The wind is fairly chilly. The sea is frisky.

I'm happy to report that I'm beginning to feel a good deal better than I have done in ages. Hence I've cancelled the appointment. If there is no need for me to take up the GP's precious time, then someone more deserving is welcome to those 15 minutes. I have also made myself a promise to cease from complaining about niggling health issues. It is so unfair when many of our Kitcheners have serious health issues.

harrigran I apologize for overlooking your last message. We must have been posting at almost the same moment. It's understandable that you were sad to have to say farewell to your daughter. Is she able to return fairly frequently? I hope so.

Alea My Nana used to swear by a certain tonic, the name of which I've forgotten. When all else failed, she would resort to a creamy milk stout.

Lona Selling one's home is very stressful. I always remember the wise words...'This too will pass'.

annsixty Will the Manchester eye hospital be easier to get to? On Tuesday next we're to go to Oban hospital for MacS's CT scan and latest blood results. That's a round trip of about 140 miles. The road is picturesque and challenging in equal measure. We reward ourselves with a fish and chip lunch.

Charleyg Oh...did we have fun last night. As MacS left the bathroom, he met Tortoiseshell cat walking through the sitting room. Naturally, she panicked and scooted behind the sofa. Rory became all "helpful" and peered beneath the sofa as if to reassure her. MacS opened the back door wide. He then waited for T to understand that there was a safe way out. She made a run for it. Rory yawned and took himself off to bed. T took to her tree stump close to the back door. She spent rather a long time grooming herself (her hiding place must have been dusty). Thankfully, no damage done.

soop I do not care what MacSporran says but that tortoiseshell cat is slowly moving in. Rory does not seem to be too bothered, but let's face it, that cat is so deprived of sleep that he no longer has the energy to chase or even walk her to the open door. She will be back and slowly she will become less frightened, especially if Rory does not bat an eyelid.

140 mile round trip is some journey- luckily it is now April. You deserve more than a fish and chip lunch but that is a start. I do wonder who will have his nose put out of joint at home?

I'm so glad you are feeling better soop but I do wish you hadn't five me the bug! I feel dreadful and as though my head might drop off - which might be a relief. I hope it doesn't become the cough as well.

Lona, I hope your house sale goes well - if you must sell its better not to be hanging around for ages and prolonging the agony.

soop I think you should have kept that appointment. The GP would have checked you over and made sure that you were not going to be in for yet another spell of bad health in the near future. You are too damn quick to say that you don't need his/her time! He/she would be the first to say that to you as well. Yet you tell MacS off for doing the same thing - you are each as bad as the other.

Consider your wrist well and truly smacked.

We should open a book on how long it will take Tortoiseshell cat to get her paws under the table and join Rory in his comfortable billet. There are several horse-racing grans who would hold our bets for us and keep tabs on form.

I think that she will be very comfortable by the end of July.

MacSporran Sport that he is, has asked me to share the following with his Ladies...

In the utility room we have what we call 'the wee loo,' it has a small hand basin in which anyone gardening can freshen up.
MacS seemed to be taking an awful long time washing his hands. I continued to clatter around in the kitchen. Eventually, I heard a knocking accompanied by ...'I'm locked in the loo...'
I tried to open the latch (as seen on cop dramas) but to no avail.
MacS instructed me to get the step ladder and position it close to the outside wall (festooned with cotoneaster)...the wee loo window is also "wee". It would have been a sight for sore eyes had any passer-by glimpsed MacS's rear end stuck in the aperture. As I was holding the ladder steady MacS had a job trying to keep the window from closing down on him. He also thought he might get cramp!
At long last, he very gingerly backed down the ladder - one slipper on - one slipper still inside.
He smiled broadly.
What more can I say. The door refuses to open. The latch is dodgy. Needs to be fixed. I would have had to remain in situ (had it happened to me) and outside help called upon.

. Thank goodness it wasn't upstairs!!
I have actually "laughed out loud"!!
