Easter holiday plans

No special Easter celebrations planned.

On Friday DD is going to a wedding a bit of a distance away which necessitates an overnight stay. They'll take the baby with them and we will stay with the other two.

The funeral of the husband of a friend is on Friday afternoon so I'll go to that while DH minds the girls.

My son will be coming home from a month long trip this weekend so I may visit him on Monday. So all in all a busy weekend but the fact that it's Easter will have no impact on it.

Ah now plenty of plans for this Easter.

Thursday: mad burst of cleaning
Friday: more cleaning and food shopping. Early evening DD1, SIL1 and their 3 children (7, almost 3 and 9 months) arrive to stay for a week.
Saturday: DD2, SIL2 and their DD aged 4 arrive to stay for a week. DS and DIL arrive to stay for a week. All going to DD3 for evening meal.
Sunday: all of the above plus DH, DD3 and her 2 sons aged 9 and 6 to us for family Easter dinner and lots of chocolate eggs.
Monday: it is DGS3's 3rd birthday! Morning - party at a local play centre with me providing the food and decorations. Followed by our traditional family Easter bonfire where we have homemade tomato soup, and eggs and potatoes cooked in the fire. Followed by Easter egg hunt for the DGSs around the garden. Looks like all this will be in the rain ?
The rest of the week will be cooking, cooking, clearing up and battling our way through the general chaos. What fun!

Really though, I love it but will doubtless have to lie down in a darkened room (with chocolate eggs) when they have all returned from whence they came.

Last day of work for me tomorrow then drive down to stay with DD2 on Friday and then she and I and DD1 SIL and twin granddaughters aged 6 will drive to France for a week in two cars, we are renting a house and will have a slobby don't do anything we don't want to do holiday and rest up.

DGD's are confident that the French Easter Bunny will arrive on schedule!

We have no plans for Easter but DD and GC coming on Wed for H's 80th birthday. They will stay until Sat but I don't think she has taken in just how incapacitated I am, if she thinks it will be a break for her she is in for a surprise.
Many of our local schools are only off Fri and Mon and then back for 4 days before a 2 week holiday. I have never known this before.

Friday - joining with other denominations to walk with the cross through the streets, church, contemplation and prayer

Saturday - filling the cathedral and parish church with flowers, Saturday evening the Easter Virgil .

Sunday - Mass and I had planned to plant shrubs in the afternoon but the forecast is heavy rain

Monday - a concert being held at our mental health drop in centre so will bake for that

We saw our family last weekend as they are going away. We are going to exotic Peterborough for four days. There is a very large antique fair and we have never seen the town or its cathedral.
If we were at home I would be painting and I would make sure we had at least one day out to an exhibition .

We had a family gathering at RHS Wisley last Sunday as DS and family are going to Austria ski-ing on Saturday this weekend. It was busy and VERY cold so may have been a better idea to meet for a pub lunch!

DD and family are coming for Easter Sunday lunch and we are looking forward to hearing about DGD's school trip to Krakow and Auschwitz and DGS's year 6 residential week on the Isle of Wight. Both due back tonight/early tomorrow.

Good Friday evening we are going to the local Art Group's exhibition opening. We get an invitation as I bought a painting there a couple of years ago. Might do the same again if any catch my eye.

Easter is a biggie for us, especially this year when my working DH has not had even a short break from work since Christmas - and then he had a health scare with horrible tests which wiped out the holiday for him.

I have come down to Devon and will be joined by the DH, the DD and her partner and, despite the terrible weather forecasts for the Easter weekend, are determined to get out and about for coastal pleasures: walks and visits. We will have roast lamb with all the trimmings and eat Devon cream teas for all we are worth.

I shall have Easter treats on the table on Sunday morning for the young people and, for we oldies, will go out and about in the following week looking for Easter chocky bargains and knock-downs.

The road to Rothbury has opened after three years and £10 million. I would like to drive up it and spend some money in Rothbury to boost the economy

Lilyflower we used to travel round (locally!) seeking choccie egg bargains after Easter. Sadly, the food police have knocked it on the head for us. We must watch our waistlines, donchaknow!

We've had many lovely holidays in Rothbury. One of my favourite places.

Sleeping, eating, chilling watching films with my DS and generally coming to terms with my dad dying today.

Maybe thinking of some new plans now that he won't be around, just so that I have something positive to think about and not start going down the path of depression at his passing. Feel sad, but I don't want to get a dark depression if I can at all help it.

All our 4 DCs and families are away this weekend in various places, so for the first time we are home alone. Don't want to go away ourselves as we are going away at the end of April, so have stared decorating a study and a spare bedroom. The whole house is now full of stuff which needs sorting, and if I have my way, throwing out. I have a book club next week and haven't read the book so may spend an afternoon on the sofa reading over the weekend. Hopefully get out in the garden, but plenty to do if the weather is bad. Quite looking forward to pleasing ourselves.

Entire family except DH and me is laid up with tonsillitis so I rather doubt if we shall see any of them this Easter.

I agree it's not like the advert at all for me since a divorce I now live alone in a very small flat so the days of all the family having Easter Sunday lunch are gone when I would be shopping and preparing mountains of food all my grown-up children do their own thing with friends and no longer seem family orientated so I will enjoy the time of work do a few chores ,watch tv on catchup and try and enjoy the peace.

I've had a massive bonfire and done some gardening. I've answered mails and read this lot + read my book which I finished. Later we have friends popping in for tea and then our youngest son for dinner. Then we're off to the cinema. Will that do? Whatever floats your boat is my message.

Nothing. DH playing golf. I'm going to the bank and Boots. We never venture forth at Bank Holidays. Many years ago spent several hours sitting on the M1 and vowed "never again". Luckily we are now retired and can go places when it's less busy.

easter this year is going to be a time of recovery for myself, my daughter and grandaughters. my daughter unfortunately brought a sicky bug home with her from work over a week ago and, typically, we all fell one at a time.

it's one of those bugs which really wipes you out - so i'm hoping that we'll be able to get some of the accumulated mess cleared up.

no housework has been done for over a week!! we haven't eaten properly but have been drinking like fish. however we did the four-weekly shop yesterday and it needs putting away .......... not something anyone's looking forward to in the slightest.

to tempt our appetites my daughter and i have been buying treats so i hope they will work and we can soon regain our collective strengths.

there'll be easter eggs for all [i hope] and the girls will have an easter egg hunt tomorrow. we've had the hot cross buns yesterday [only ordinary tesco ones but still nice] and maybe the simnel cake will be finished and the usual chocolate nests will be made too. hope we feel like eating them!!!

however - i wish all gransnetters and their families a wonderful easter. hope you're all in good health and that the chocolate eggs flow.

Painting furniture....house still isn't ready for rental.however found a fantastic cupboard in the back room of a junk/antique shop that fits a corner of the dining room perfectly....not having a proper computer does seem to free up a lot of time though....

If there's one thing I'm good at it's doing nothing and I'll be doing precisely that all weekend! I'll be doing nothing all by myself too, which is bliss. Well, having said that, I mustn't forget my little dog, Charlie. He'll need feeding and walking but he's pretty undemanding company so we'll do nothing together. Ahhh....

Never done much for Easter used to work over bank holiday . On our own Sunday so having takeaway mom dd partner and God for tea we are having belly pork joint roasties and veggies with trifle to finish . Happy Easter whatever you are doing ??☕️
