Easter holiday plans

Well for many years Easter was time off from work and we used to make an annual pilgrimage to Wensleydale for walking. Since we retired w didn't do much so this year as we had a bit of a flat Xmas and didn't see anyone I have invited our immediate family here for Easter and I am envisaging something much like the advert you mention. I have laid in lots of food , drink and chocolate eggs for all and am really looking forward to it - bet it rains though.

This will be the first Easter away from the family - ever!! Trouble is the weather looks ghastly so not such a sensible decision.

We have no plans except a family dinner on Sunday (anyone know where I can buy a frozen turkey ?)
D is taking the GSs to Howletts Animal Park on Friday which is set to be the best day weather wise. Saturday is GS#2 birthday party.

Lunch out at the Botanical gardens with DD and DGSs which should be fun. Its a good place for lunch then a lovely walk (or run depending on age!) This w/e is our 39th wedding anniversary too. I just don't know where the years have gone. So far so good...

No plans for us for Easter, neither of us have a liking for sitting in traffic or queuing for anything so a day out is not on the cards. We like having outings when everyone else is working .
Some of the grands may pop in to visit over the holiday and we might have a get together at short notice but there's no pressure on anyone as they probably all have plans of some sort, one grandson is in Iceland with his girlfriend and my middle daughter is off to Spain for a week on Sunday. I see them all often so I have no problem with them relaxing and doing their own thing when they get time off work.
If the weather is good we'll spend time outside in the garden sorting out our new shed and that's as much planning as I'll be doing.

We have never been away at Easter before but this year we have booked a trip to Torquay. Have visions of spending hours in gridlock on the road and then a wet weekend is forecast. It does not bother me at all, just looking forward to the break and someone else cooking.

I am going to see Billy Elliot (again) in London on the Saturday afternoon, and Wicked (which I have not seen yet) in the evening. Then DD and I will travel home on Easter Sunday pm, and the rest of the family will come for family Easter on the Monday.

And if I do not finish up with at least four Easter eggs, I will be sorely disappointed.

As rain and colder weather are on the cards I will continue with the minimalist look in this house I think. I can at least have the bags lined up at the door for me to take to the local charity shop on Tuesday.

I am like "Tanith" I prefer to go places when the children are at school and most of my neighbours etc are at work.

I think our problem is that we were married and had children so young it means we've done all the things some families are now enjoying I'm trying to make plans to go and visit some of my cousins further north so hopefully we'll have a day out and lots of chat!

We are going to stay with my DD and SiL in west Wales. They are renovating a big old house so it will be a bit like glamping.Fun though

We will have a family gathering on Sunday. DD, in Brussels, will not be able to fly home on Thursday but has managed to get a seat on Eurostar and will arrive in the north of England on Friday night after two long train journeys. Where there is a will there is a way

Commiserations, Willow500. I'm very lucky in that my lot live fairly locally, so the 3 DC, partners and 3 DGS will be at ours for an Easter buffet and egg hunt on Friday (not the ideal day for a celebration, but needs must when you have a shift working emergency services worker in the family). On Saturday we'll all be at DS's for DGS3's first birthday lunch. No plans for Sunday and Monday, so it'll probably be catching up on the allotment for DH and a much needed couple of days sorting out stuff for me. We've been away a lot lately so I'm actually looking forward to it!

I'm off to visit DS1 and family 'down south' for Easter. DiL will be away taking a school party skiing and will be glad of a break as she has recently lost her mother. I'm looking forward to seeing the GC, if they are ever around. At their ages (13 &11), they have their own agendas! Anyway, I have loaded up with Easter eggs and hope we can all go out for a treat.

Do we have to do something special for Easter? I usually go to church and get a chocolate bunny from 3rd daughter.
This year is excitingly different, I've had a foot operation and am allowed up for up to 10 minutes per hour. 2nd daughter is coming to --help take charge.

Oh gosh Watermeadow that sounds frustrating - lie back and enjoy the rest!

We have no plans either. DS always comes for lunch on Sundays, so the only difference will be that we gave a turkey crown for lunch.

I'm just hoping DH will have stopped coughing by Good Friday - that'll make my Easter!

DS will be visiting for lunch on Good Friday; DD et al on Sunday for lunch before they go down to London for three days (in the current climate I rather wish they were going somewhere else! I'm being silly, I know). Saturday? Dunno. Monday? Maybe a spot of fishing or a good walk, weather permitting.

I hope I will have stopped coughing too!

Friday - making a cake for Saturday tea and visiting mum
Saturday - all together for lunch at Pizza Express ( none of us is up for tackling cooking for the hoards)
Sunday - visit to mum and lunch for visiting DD and family
Monday - fun with DGD2 & 3 and another meal.
Tuesday - visit mum.

Not sure yet! DH and I are going to the theatre on Friday evening. I suspect I will be boiling /decorating eggs on Saturday and making some Easter cakes. On Sunday I duspect DD2 and kids will be over (DD1 @ MiL) and DD2 over on Monday. DD2 and co might rock up too! Easter bunny will be busy whatever happens!
