Soop's kitchen extension

A couple of years ago I was minding my GS during the day when he called" Nana come and see the big chicken* when I looked it was a large heron, presumably watching a neighbours pond

And for Granspals who like pigs...

annsixty Heron are very graceful. When they stand perfectly still and watch something of interest in a pool, they almost look unreal...just like the sculptures you see in gardens.

And...for those who like Alpaca...

Here is one of three that live not too far away...

I am lying here on the settee feeling a bit bored as our car broke down (typical to happen at. Weekend). OH just said come on we will take the dogs out, so I reluctantly move myself but no can't do that, no car. IPad is nearly run out of battery as well. Strange how you can be bored but not want to do anything, need a kick up the backside or is it wine time yet

Tizliz There are times when I feel as you do. We know that doing something is better than lolling and feeling a little blue. The weather doesn't help. We usually walk for about 40mins each day...but not in the windy wet weather. I've been trying my hardest to get a portrait of a lovely wee dog underway. I've had three failures so far...two today. What to do? I could ride my exercise bike for the usual 20mins. I could return to the portrait and sketch a fourth. The sketch appeals more than a pedal on the bike.

When I've knuckled down and have hopefully achieved something...then I shall feel pleased. Almost time to read the newspapers. G&T on the first pip of 6'clock.

I was planning another lazy day, when my son rang, and I was whisked away to the park with dgd to feed the ducks and swans. Great fun on the playground until I fell off the roundabout, accompanied by much hilarity!

Ouch, Lona! Breathe softly and no gutsy laughing for a while! I laughed at your brown sauce comment . I love pigs, and pig, too!

lona the trouble is that you get carried away when playing with the GC and forget that you are not 18 anymore (whatever your brain is telling you),

I dragged myself off the settee and made a nice roast dinner (local organic lamb, roast potatoes, parsnips, peas and yorkies), a large glass of wine and feel better. Hope the local garage can fix the car but no good worrying tonight.

I agree, I love the pig and alpaca. Believe it or not I have never seen an alpaca either on paper or in the flesh before now.

When we were on holiday in Wells-next-the-Sea, we were out on the scooters heading for the seafront, and coming the other way was a group of people accompanying a group of alpacas on a walk. They paid for the privilege, but if I`d been able to walk better, I`d have gladly handed my cash over, they were lovely, and so docile and friendly.

I want one!

There's an alpaca 'farm' just near here, in fact I think there are two! They are lovely animals.

The car has been into the garage and it is not too serious. Has had a temporary fix and we were in work by 11 am. Was a bit worried about how to pay for a major repair. Am I unusual in not wanting a credit card? I try and keep some emergency money for things like this, but OH ordered something last week which was supposed to be on a 6 week lead time but was ready the next day! So had to pay for that out of the fund.

So feel much better and the sun is shining which always helps. Will make the most of it with a long walk at lunch time.

I adore alpacas. I am also in a cba frame of mind. Feel guilty sitting on gransnet but really can't motivate myself. The weather is grotty very wet and windy. The rest of the week is forecast dry I think.

tizliz no you aren't alone. We don't use credit, haven't done since retirement. I do use a credit card for security reasons when buying on the Internet, but pay the balance off every month.

Notizliz I don't think you're alone in not wanting a credit card. We do have a couple , but one is for my groceries etc and I pay it off monthly ( I use it to get extra loyalty points ) and we have an emergency one. Its also useful on holiday where you have to put a deposit on something that's returned when you return the item.
