What do you call your vulva?

On the back of the washing thread, I was just wondering what you call your vulva? It seems such an unattractive word to me, so I call mine fufu. Daft I know but there you are. My friend calls hers her lulu. My granddaughter calls hers front bottom. How about you?

Good grief this is getting obsessional

I call it my vulva as that is its anatomical name.

When DD2 was small she told us she had a Volvo.

The Vaginal Monologues give many and various names for this area.

As I never feel the need to talk about it, I don't call it anything.

Sadiesnan Wed 27-Jan-16 14:04:45

Surely at some point in your life you've mentioned it? Either to a sexual partner or the doctor?

annsixty Wed 27-Jan-16 14:08:50

No.

kittylester Wed 27-Jan-16 14:11:05

Nor me! Should I need to, I'd call it my vulva. In our house, that general area was called a twinkle - so christened by DD1 aged about 6!

Is it the only part of your body you don't mention annsixty?

kittylester Wed 27-Jan-16 14:16:29

Give it a rest Sadiesnan.

Judthepud2 Wed 27-Jan-16 14:18:08

Erm....it isn't really something I talk about on a frequent basis. Doctor or nurse, I would use the generic term 'vagina'.

Sadiesnan Wed 27-Jan-16 14:18:54

I'm interested to know, that's all. Don't read the thread if you're not interested, it says quite clearly what it's about. grin

Any Miranda fans on here can probably imagine her mother (Patricia Hodge) explaining the use of her bidet.

'It's for cleaning my What I Call Vulva' grin

If I had cause to visit the doctor with a problem I would address it by its proper name. However, on an informal basis I call it my "fouffe"! Not that I talk about it much mind!

Badenkate Wed 27-Jan-16 15:02:35

I think, along with others, I just couldn't imagine what the thread was about ?. I'm afraid I'm in the sad group with ann, kitty and jud and rarely, if ever, have brought it into the conversation. Mostly because my household consisted entirely of men apart from me, and also luckily I've never had anything medical that needed discussing ?

Penstemmon Wed 27-Jan-16 15:32:40

I have always taught my own daughters, and children in school, the correct anatomical term vulva..but tbh it is not a word that crops up that often in conversation grin

In Relationship and Sex Ed classes with Y6 we used to ask the children to write down, on post its,the words they used for their genital areas and then we stuck them on an outline drawing of a boy/girl. I learned an awful lot of new vocab! Most common for vulva was fanny, foufou or minnie.

jinglbellsfrocks Wed 27-Jan-16 15:40:45

If it was to the doctor, I would probably say my down there bit. I wouldn't say vulva. I'm still not entirely sure which bit the vulva actually is.

To anyone else people such as my DDs, I would say my fanny.

That was worth saying twice. hmm

Alea Wed 27-Jan-16 15:46:24

Why on earth would anybody want to know?
Fred?
Mabel?

jinglbellsfrocks Wed 27-Jan-16 15:48:41

Well, you would have to point. And heaven only knows what they would think if you chose Fred!

joannapiano Wed 27-Jan-16 15:59:20

DGD aged 7, says Lady Bits.

Elrel Wed 27-Jan-16 16:00:08

Do we need 'attractive' terms instead of accurate anatomical terms?! That particular part isn't often referred except in medical situations where accuracy is needed. Otherwise, in personal private activities, the name used is the choice of those involved I seem to remember ...

I must admit to an occasional, ironic, 'lady garden' because I find it funny. Maybe I got that from Jo Brand, it sounds even more amusing said in her voice!

Penstemmon Wed 27-Jan-16 16:22:01
