Alan Rickman has died!

My 13-year-old DGD's science teacher left the room and the class took it upon themselves to create a tribute to Professor Snape on the whiteboard which they have posted on Facebook. Alan Rickman meant a lot to that generation and they are far more upset about his death than about David Bowie's who meant more to their parents and grandparents.

So upset that he's gone. I loved him in all his films but the fight scene in Robin Hood was a classic. So smooth and that lovely voice!

My teen granddaughters knew nothing of Bowie, they are so sorry Alan Rickman has died. I read he was voted actor with the most sexy voice , no surprise there

Very sad. I admired him very much.

I can't think of many things that I've seen him in, but I thought he was brilliant in Truly Madly Deeply.

The person who said Alan Rickman and David Bowie had had a "good innings" was in her 40's. No doubt she will feel differently when she is in her sixties.

We haven't dared to tell GS1 yet, he's going to be so upset. I remember reading that J.K.Rowling was so keen to keep him playing Snape that she told him how it would all end and what a vital part Snape would play in it all.

A good innings? Not at all, as we all now know. I do remember though when I was young (just), and my mother would say so and so had died in their sixties. To her that was "no age", to me it was positively ancient.
