Just that really. I was 27 when I had my first and it never occurred to me to have anyone other than my husband at the time to be with me, after all, he was the one who had made it happen!
The DD I had then is 5 weeks at most from giving birth at the age of 20. She has a wonderful supportive husband and made a point of telling me I would not be expected at the birth when she told me she was pregnant. It never occurred to me I might be invited, so that is fine! Wonderful even, as I would not enjoy seeing my DD go through such pain!
Since then several people have suggested I am odd for not wanting to be there, not insisting I be there. I really do not think I should be there. I did not want my own mum there when I had any of my three! I certainly would not pressure DD for me to be there!
I am thinking those who have said this have been young. Maybe it is an age thing. So hence the question in the title.
