New Year resolutions

I know not everyone likes to do this BUT as DH told me he is making his (never been known before usually the old joke 'I'm resolving not to make resolutions') I suppose I had better show willing too. So I will have to take some of the extra weight I have put on off (sorry pedants ), get down to some proper writing and importantly for me stop wasting time and letting others waste it for me.
Anyone else thinking about it?

jogginggirl Mon 28-Dec-15 09:37:34

Oh definitely teetime smile
My DS bought me a natty little planner for Christmas with an ideas board so I have no excuse!
I am still in bed with a very nasty flu-type virus which DS also brought me for Christmashmm
It gives me time to think about how I need to change what I am doing with my life. I am looking after genuinely needy people BUT there are changes planned to ease some of the strain. Hopefully this should give me more time to do the things I enjoy and are necessary to live a healthier but less frenetic lifesmile
So - more regular exercise, healthier eating plan, stop saying yes to everything/everyone - take more time to just be a human being rather than a human doing .... How's that for starters ...? wink

I'm up for continuing my diet, carrying on with my fitness classes and staying positive. This was my second Christmas after being diagnosed with cancer, so it's VERY important for me to stick to my resolutions.

Happy New Year everyone x

Lapwing Mon 28-Dec-15 09:40:11

My plans are to eat more healthily, exercise more and finally totally cut out the diet coke.

Greyduster Mon 28-Dec-15 09:54:13

Apart from the diet coke, which i don't drink anyway, i'm with Lapwing!

Greyduster Mon 28-Dec-15 09:58:56

Oh, and to adopt a more relaxed approach to my fishing trips!

Teetime Mon 28-Dec-15 14:49:21

Lapwing I stopped the diet coke which I have drunk for years a few weeks before Christmas with no noticeable effects good or bad so I shall have one if out in a pub when I'm looking for a low calorie beverage. Cutting down on alcohol intake has to be a first priority for me in 2016its the sugar and weight gain rather than the alcohol I worry about .

KatyK Mon 28-Dec-15 15:06:33

To stop worrying about absolutely everything and to try to enjoy my life more.

OlderNoWiser Mon 28-Dec-15 15:11:34

To grow old disgracefully and stay alive until next Christmas grin

Greyduster Mon 28-Dec-15 18:43:59

I have also decided that, in 2016, i will not allow anyone to put a salad in front of me! Apart from watercress, i hate the b****y stuff!

jogginggirl I like the human being bit of your post, very clever, I shall remember that one.

I'm going to get drunk from 1st Jan to 31st Dec and if anyone doesn't like my slurry posts, then it's just hard luck. tchwink

Try to be firmer, and not worry and take things to heart.

rubysong Tue 29-Dec-15 08:34:57

As most years, drink more water and learn my mobile phone number.

Leticia Tue 29-Dec-15 08:45:49

I am going to spend less time on the Internet and more time reading.

Maggiemaybe Tue 29-Dec-15 09:41:44

rubysong, I'm copying yours. I've been meaning to do both of these for years!

I'm adding an internet curfew - 8pm for starters moving on in stages as and when I find I can't cope

Bellanonna Tue 29-Dec-15 10:05:14

rubysong - I have been trying the second one too. For months. I've got as far as the first 5 digits, but the next 6 just won't stick. As for other resolutions I don't make them any more. That was a resolution I made a few years ago, and I've stuck to it. smile

Not mine - saw this on FB and it reminded me of this thread tchhmm

T'was the week after Christmas and all through the house,

Nothing would fit me, not even a blouse.

The goodies I'd nibble, the prosecco I'd taste,

All the gatherings and parties had gone to my waist.

When I got on my scales, there arose such a number!

When I walked to the shops (less a walk more a lumber).

I'd remember the marvellous meals I'd prepared;

The gravies and sauces and beef nicely rared...

The wine and the puddings, the crackers and the cheese

and the way I'd never said, "No thank you, just please."

As I dressed myself in my old baggy shirt

and prepared once again to try and do up my skirt,

I said to myself (as no one else dare!)

"Go back to Weight Watchers you know there they care"

So away went the last of the sour cream dip,

I got rid of the fruit cake, every cracker & chip.

Every last bit of food that is bad it was banished

'Till all those additional pounds have vanished.

I'm back on plan and counting my points

Drinking more water, no more turkey & ham joints,

Staying to class (you really should try it)

Happy New Years to All & to All a Good Diet. ??????✨???

rosesarered Tue 29-Dec-15 14:33:54

Haha, sounds like Pam Ayres?

rosesarered Tue 29-Dec-15 14:34:42

???????? let them eat cake.

harrysgran Fri 01-Jan-16 11:24:25

Not making any but have a decorated jar on my kitchen windowsill that I intend to put little notes in when something happens that makes me happy then if I'm ever feeling down I can empty the jar and reflect on things

tiredoldwoman Fri 01-Jan-16 16:28:43

Lose weight , get fit , be more sociable , say 'yes' not 'sorry, I can't' .

wotanuisanceABC123 Fri 01-Jan-16 17:53:56

I like harrysgrans idea of a "happiness" jar! I'm going to try that.

Luckygirl Fri 01-Jan-16 18:24:46

Get out and about to the theatre and concerts even though OH will not come. Sounds a bit selfish really as a resolution, but I think I have to do this to stay sane!

petra Fri 01-Jan-16 18:32:08

tiredoldwoman. Perhaps I can teach you how to say 'yes' and you teach me to say 'sorry, I can't'
