Favourite gifts?

Mine was from my second eldest grandson and his girlfriend 'Tea For Two at Claridges' can't wait to sample those delights..

OH received the 'drone' that I wouldn't let him buy last week from them... he was over the moon.

Some white gold Sapphire Earrings and an Osprey handbag are my favourites. I love earrings and handbags.

Mine is a calendar with photos of my GDs (sometimes DD as well) at the top of every month.

DD is not very tech-savvy and it was all her own work, so I was both impressed and touched by her thoughtfulness. She'd remembered that every January I bemoan the fact that I've forgotten to buy a calendar yet again...

A year's membership of English Heritage for DH and me from DD and her family. We are also members of the National Trust. There will be
no stopping us next year!

We've only opened our own presents to each other as we have a present fest when every one is here on Lester Boxing Day which is (this year) Monday 28th December (flipping football matches are always on proper Boxing Day!) Up to know my favourite present from DH is a dog for my Pandora Bracelet. He bought me a beautiful handbag but I think it's too big for every day so we are going to change it.

DGD1's favourite was an apple tree! Which had better bear Gala apples or she won't eat the fruit.

Perhaps not quite what was intended but my best gift was seeing both sons and their fab families on Christmas Day. Life complexities means it hasn't happened for years. May not again for a few years. It felt a wonderful gift.

I had a new leather handbag from DH - not designer, but nice, and capacious, for all those "i don't suppose there's room in your handbag for this..." moments (of which there are many!). My favourite present was, though, an eyewateringly expensive bottle of malt whisky with which i am currently fortifying myself before the family descend for the boxing day bunfight! DGS's favourite of the trillions of presents he got was a silly thing that i almost made DH take back to the shop ("what on earth did you buy that thing for!") - a game called 'whack a mouse'. Even the adults have had fun with it, challenging each other to the highest scores. Just shows what i know!

I always make a stocking (must include ginger and marzipan!) for my daughter. This year I popped in an inflatable 'Queen for a Day' crown I found in the market. Her birthday is 25th December and she wore it all day!! Success I think!

GD 21 gave me a lovely face cream and GS 11 gave me pots of conserve and marmalade from a small producer in Norfolk. SiL appreciated a book about the psychiatric disorders of operatic heroes. Don't ask ...

My best gift was hand made biscuits made by an 8 year old Polish neighbour who is a very friendly little girl. She did have help from her older sister, the biscuits were cut in the shape of stars, trees, houses etc. presented in a lovely mug with a cat picture on the outside. I had never tasted anything like them before, they were delicious. Simple but thoughtful.

I only had two gifts (we don't do adults' presents usually), which were a pack of shocking pink face flannels and a soup maker. I have always thought the latter a waste of money, as I am quite happy using a saucepan and stick blender. I shall have to see whether it gets used regularly or consigned to the back of a cupboard!

Pair of real pearl and gold earrings. I shall wear them a huge amount I think.

No idea what the DGS got. Their father only communicates with us about access so we won't know until 28th.
DS bought me a new coat and I bought him one DD bought me a great colouring book and DS bought some quality colouring pencils.

Calendars with photographs of the GC and a photo taken at school, DS and DIL paid for a bicycle for a health worker in Africa which I thought was a very good idea.

DG2 (aged 3 today) gave me three cotton shopping bags tastefully hand (and foot) painted with hand and foot prints. DG1 (9) gave me a pottery gouat that he had decoupaged himself and DH gave me a lovely necklace made of fossil shells and an ammonite. Best of all DD gave me the Sainsbury's Mog soft toy which I hadn't been able to find at all.

Favourite present was a gift of vouchers for a local spa from ddil. She also gave same to an auntie and other ddil. The four of us will have a girly day next month with a treatment/massage etc.

Favourite of dh is a cushion which says "this chair is reserved for granda coolgran" he's been showing it off to everyone.

My favourite present is a beautiful purple jumper dress with green trees on the front. DH apparently queued with about 200 ladies to buy it! DS bought me a new radio/CD player for the kitchen, in a very bright red. From DD came lots of lovely pampering bath things.

A phone cover with a photo of the DGD,s on . Every time I use my phone I can see them without accessing the photo gallery. Also several books which I'm always pleased about as I love to read.

A gorgeous winter coat from DH and Clinique vouchers from DS and DSS. Also a beautiful smelly candle DD brought me back fro her trip to New York

All my presents from OH (who also excelled himself this year) and my son's family were fab but like another GN the best was actually having that son and his family here for the day after so many years on our own. Also the two wonderful photo books of our grandsons in NZ from our other son and DIL and actually being able to Skype them 2 days running especially the second one when the two brothers were able to see each other for the first time in a year and granddaughters here were able to see their little cousin in 'person'. Finally the best is still happening - a whole week off work!!

Lots of lovely pressies but the one that touched my heart was a bag with the words "Gran's Bag of Very Important Things," on the front. I've already got a Super Gran cushion.

Present to self - there is a life as a widow - way to go yet but I'm getting there.
