We can say what we aim to get done, and then come and say if we have actually done it. tchsmile

Today for me, marzipan on cake, and wrap most of my pressies.

jinglbellsfrocks Wed 16-Dec-15 07:57:43

annsixty that is awful about your lights. I hope you can get sorted out with some new ones.

jinglbellsfrocks Wed 16-Dec-15 07:58:31

And where did Alea get that green tick? envy

annsixty Wed 16-Dec-15 08:24:25

Thank you I hope I can get to the garden centre today to replace them. We do have some pretty white ones on two bamboos on one side of the garden. The others were the hanging Icicle type hanging from the gutters. Look nicer than they sound. However back to the plan.
Today I will make up the beds for teens expected on Sunday for three nights.
DD's bed will have to wait until I get the spare room sorted which is a mammoth task and won't get done today
.Make a shopping list for Friday and another one for Wednesday.
Decorate tree I hope will be delivered today and decorate mantelpiece.
Deliver last few cards to neighbours.
Carry on taking cold cure. I will not succumb. I will not succumb. I will not....

jinglbellsfrocks Wed 16-Dec-15 08:34:02

I might just go for a walk.

Tesco out of marzipan & cake decs, bought board & decs in our local hardware store where, I swear, Santa was buying stuff for his garden.

Today we have big Tesco shop coming as we're having the Turkey on Sunday as DD has to work Christmas Eve & Boxing day & they are spending the big day with his parents. Must continue wrapping prezzies & write my few cards.

mcem Wed 16-Dec-15 08:39:07

Just wrote an impressive list then lost it as tablet went into meltdown!
Will get started - change bedding then head off to DGC's nativity play.
Finish writing cards and stroll to PO with some.
Evening - watch tele while catching up on ironing.
Tree and dec's were done with aid of wee ones at weekend.
Like jbf I'd love to have a green tick. It would give me a sense of achievement
(like the 'well done ' stamps I used all the time while teaching!)

Katek Wed 16-Dec-15 08:44:42

Still abed trying to drum up enthusiasm to get up! It's so dark outside, DH is away so I could easily stay snuggled here apart from the guilt factor. I must, must, must get those cards done if nothing else. And wrap/post the brothers' parcels.....and organise hamper for FIL.....and collect dgd from school. Suppose I'd better get up then.

annsixty Wed 16-Dec-15 08:51:30

I am so pleased that others are what I would consider late with their cards. It is a job I loathe with no justification whatsoever. So relieved when they are done, it is like a weight being lifted.

jinglbellsfrocks Wed 16-Dec-15 08:57:01

I think I've made the wrong choice of turkey on my Xmas food order, and they are all spoken for now. >>chews nails<<

Teetime Wed 16-Dec-15 08:57:25

Nothing today no golf- big swollen painful foot!!! sad
BUT I have just been rung by BBC Radio Leicester and asked if I will take part in a radio phone in about the cinema so I said Yes and I am going to talk about The Ten Commandments and Out of Africa as some of my best screen experiences so that should be fun.

Have a good day! tchsmile

jinglbellsfrocks Wed 16-Dec-15 08:58:47

mcem you're going to do evening work?! (hangs head in shame)

Stansgran Wed 16-Dec-15 09:13:12

I feel quite faint reading all this and have taken to my bed with a cup of tea. Today's the day we find out if our hotel in the Lakes is re opening for Christmas . If they're not I'll start a mad food shop. All the cards are done. Presents were bought before my op and sent. DH 's presents are a bit thin on the ground as I usually fill a stocking for him and I haven't had the opportunity to shop for a while.

I am going to ride bike to Waitsore, buy lard and butter, and then make mince pies according to Saint Delia.

Will NOT start GNing. Will NOT go anywhere near book.

jinglbellsfrocks Wed 16-Dec-15 10:55:06

according to the BOOK of St Delia. (Good eh? tchsmile)

jinglbellsfrocks Wed 16-Dec-15 10:56:01

Can you tell I've had two teas and one coffee this morning? blush

Katek Wed 16-Dec-15 11:06:52

Coffee! Maybe that's what I need....get a move on woman! I blame you lot for being too entertaining.

annsixty Wed 16-Dec-15 11:08:02

Stansgran what a blow that would be. I do hope you will be able to go and be looked after.

Galen Wed 16-Dec-15 11:33:07

Well, I've got the jewellry packed. Need a rest now!

ninathenana Wed 16-Dec-15 11:44:55

mcem perhaps we could interpret sunshine as a gold star for the duration tchwink

JackyB Wed 16-Dec-15 11:58:14

Did my shopping last night, as planned. Also got some extra baubles and decorations - they were already reduced!! Terrible colours, mind, but mixed with the gold ones I have and with lots of fairy lights, I think it'll make a nice display.

Didn't do any of the other things on my list, and won't be doing any tonight as DiL and GS are coming for tea. Haven't seen them since they got back from the States. She likes our food, and I shall be doing linguine with salmon. Although she's a veggie, she likes her bit of salmon, and that's something the little one can join us in eating.

I very superficially tidied the lounge and the dining room before work this morning, in preparation for their visit. Left garbled instructions to hubbie to put various other things away and remove more stuff to make the place more toddler-proof.

Stansgran - you have put a hilarious picture in my mind as I first misinterpreted "start a mad food shop"!

rosequartz Wed 16-Dec-15 12:35:20

Not a lot as DGD is busy entertaining me today! Fortunately she has a friend playing with her called Abigail, who has pink hair in a side bunch, she's 11 and is DGD's twin, although DGD is only 4.
Neither DH nor I can see or hear Abigail btw which is a bit unfortunate as grandad just sat on her, resulting in hysterics from DGD.
'Everyone loves Abigail's Party' apparently (resulting in laughter from me and indignation from DGD, although I am allowed to go if I take a frozen 'Frozen' cupcake)

mcem Wed 16-Dec-15 12:45:51

Good idea nana and perhaps most of us have fond memories of old-fashinoned gold stars which usually fell off!
Let's scatter them liberally!
Here's one for your inspired suggestion sunshine.

rubysong Wed 16-Dec-15 14:02:35

I think I will type up the 'Christmas letter'. Then I hand write it to those who deserve require them, adding a more personal bit as I go. I was all morning scraping old cork tiles from the bathroom floor, but now the builder has appeared I need a downstairs job.

Katek Wed 16-Dec-15 14:28:07

10 cards to go.......!

jinglbellsfrocks Wed 16-Dec-15 15:58:10

Flip me! How many are you writing?! Have you been at it since 11.30 this morning?! tchshock
