Heartless question

Have just been watching the awful news from Carlisle, the BBC reporter spoke to a man and said "you have lost everything - how do you feel" The man tried hard to hold it together but had to turn away because he was so upset. Don't these interviewers have any compassion? Do they set out to upset people so they can film them in tears? Made me really angry

It's actually 'if it bleeds, it leads', but equally unpleasant.
