Did you get a bit of a thrill, perhaps a slight "frisson" when you put it in the post box?

Alea Sun 22-Nov-15 21:41:27

I also remember somebody moaning ag s ago (!) about the vicissitudes of your job searches phoenix, maybe the same person, but I thought she was long gone. Of course one never knows just because a member is silent.
Main thing, is I hope she/he did not achieve their intended aim.

mollie Sun 22-Nov-15 21:48:17

Stansgran - made notes on gn-ers? OMG! That's creepy!

Phoenix - an appropriate response. Excellent.

grannyactivist Sun 22-Nov-15 21:56:08

Aw Phoenix that's rotten for you and indicates a particular meanness in the heart of the person who sent the missive.

Here are some flowers to cheer you up.

Grannyknot Sun 22-Nov-15 21:57:36

I'm sorry this has happened, to you Phoenix and that it involved your work and your boss.

IMHO responding to the person in any way is like trying to blow out a lightbulb - a waste of breath (a slightly mixed metaphor as it is in writing rather than speech). He or she is probably enjoying all this "attention" - right here on this thread.

Quite frankly it's enough to put me right off ever posting anything on GN again.

Some people are plain weird.

NfkDumpling Sun 22-Nov-15 22:07:51

Oh Phoenix, what a good thing you're such a nice person. You did nothing other than show concern, if it's the thread I think. I'm not sure that what Mr/s Vindictive did is altogether legal?

Elegran Sun 22-Nov-15 22:11:29

I do hope the person they sent it to took the appropriate action and filed it in the waste bin - or perhaps threw it on the fire. If they know you - and they probably do know and value you by now - they will not believe anything nasty that a twisted mind has implied by sending them this.

Ana Sun 22-Nov-15 22:16:06

If the person simply sent a copy of an internet printout through the post, then of course it's not illegal.

I agree with what Grannyknot says though, that whoever did it won't be shamed by any posts on this thread and is probably enjoying the fallout...

Charleygirl Sun 22-Nov-15 22:19:25

You mentioned that the postmark was visible- would you be prepared to share it with us?

Ana Sun 22-Nov-15 22:19:49

Might have been better just to have posted To Whom it may Concern - whatever you hoped to achieve wasn't accomplished - get a life! hmm

rosesarered Sun 22-Nov-15 22:29:21

Agreed. But don't let it upset you phoenix just carry on as usual.

whitewave Sun 22-Nov-15 22:30:21

Blimey! And there was I thinking that this is just a chat forum. My brain never computes further than that. I can't take those sort of people on board so I shall now shut down.

Luckygirl Sun 22-Nov-15 22:43:07

I understand the thread involved phoenix and I hope very much that there have been no repercussions for you.

How sad some people are. It must be very hurtful. flowers

Anniebach Sun 22-Nov-15 23:13:27

I am so sorry you have been so hurt , what a sad life the culprit must live to have a need to do this

petra Mon 23-Nov-15 08:32:04

I would suggest no more posts on this subject. DONT FEED THE MONSTER. They love it that you are talking about THEM.

soontobe Mon 23-Nov-15 09:05:14

This site is very open.
I wondered at the weekend if someone recognises me from what I post. If you do Mr and Mrs S, I think I would like it if you told me.
From my point of view, Mr and Mrs S know loads about me anyway, so there is no problem really.

phoenix, from what I can remember, you are very open about your place of work, so I did think it was only a matter of time before someone said something there.

When we write things on an open forum, it is like broadcasting it to the world. Slight exageration, but we are saying things loud and clear.
flowers for phoenix.

annodomini Mon 23-Nov-15 10:07:08

I have often alluded to what I did in the past and quite early on in the life of Gransnet, I was pm'd by someone who recognised me from my political references. I ignored this and heard no more. I then made a minor change in my name but don't think that fooled anyone.

whenim64 Mon 23-Nov-15 10:18:47

flowers phoenix what a nasty thing to do to you! I think I know which thread you refer to and you only expressed concern for someone you had grown to care about and wanted to protect. Whoever did this is a sad person. I hope they read the responses on here and feel some shame about their actions.

Bellanonna Mon 23-Nov-15 10:27:09

Horribly creepy. But was it definitely from a Gnetter? Maybe someone at work who knows you are on here? Maybe you have talked about Gransnet at work?
soon you are far too cagey to give anything away
petra you're right if it actually was a Gnetter
phoenix - hoping all ok at work
UGH

annsixty Mon 23-Nov-15 10:57:01

You don't have to be a member of GN to read the posts as Bellanonna said. I would hope like everyone else that we are kind and caring and not a vindictive lot.

MiniMouse Mon 23-Nov-15 11:36:55

phoenix what a truly awful experience. It's been a wake-up call for me - and some others, I should think! I'm very careful about what I put on GN, but it would never have occurred to me that someone would think of doing what they've done to you.

You've risen above so much in the past, so flutter your wings once more flowers

Charleygirl Mon 23-Nov-15 11:41:46

I agree with MiniMouse do not let the **er get you down flowers

Ariadne Mon 23-Nov-15 13:31:53

Just catching up now - Phoenix - this is awful! I know you're brave and are sort of laughing it off, but it must hurt. Cannot believe anyone could be so unpleasant. xxx

Charleygirl Mon 23-Nov-15 16:18:50

They did not have the guts to PM you to tell you what they thought, whatever that was. They had to carry out such a sly, underhand method which clearly did not have the desired effect as I believe that you are still employed. It must hurt like hell to think that someone out there feels like that about you when you have done no wrong as far as I know and the vast majority of GNs have enjoyed your humour and writing style. flowers

Ana Mon 23-Nov-15 16:22:41

Not sure whether it was anything to do with employment now, with other threads having been mentioned! confused

jinglbellsfrocks Mon 23-Nov-15 16:24:31

I expect phoenix is at work at the moment. Hopefully. shock
