idly wondering what everyone else is eating. We are spag bol (from the freezer) and salad and then an apple crumble I found - at least I think it's an apple crumble...forgot to label it and have been caught out before

Fillet steak with charlotte potatoes and buttered organic carrots. Blueberries and ice cream on meringue base.

TerriBull Mon 19-Oct-15 19:03:36

Spicy chicken, green pepper and sweet potato casserole with couscous.

TerriBull Mon 19-Oct-15 19:05:12

Plus a glass of red wine

Pittcity Mon 19-Oct-15 19:08:13

Pepperoni Pizza and salad as DH is on a late shift and it is a simple meal that suits DS and me.

jinglbellsfrocks Mon 19-Oct-15 19:08:36

ww - it's only posh if she made the meringue base herself. Bet she didn't. Bet it was Waitrose. hmm

jinglbellsfrocks Mon 19-Oct-15 19:08:48

wink !

jinglbellsfrocks Mon 19-Oct-15 19:10:05

My swede was delicious btw. smile

harrigran Mon 19-Oct-15 19:31:04

Wasn't Waitrose, I haven't been for ages and they don't deliver here because it is a poor city oop north. Oh bums I've given it away by saying that, I was trying to pass it off as home made.

GrandmaH Mon 19-Oct-15 19:37:41

Beef Cheek casserole. Yum. Cheap as chips as it is a very under used cut. Masses of meat- more than enough for 4 people for less than £4.Sainsburys here have just started selling it- could only get it at Waitrose previously. Cooked long & slow in a good stock it is unbeatable- so tender.
I hope they start selling Pigs cheeks soon too. Love them.

Hello Worlass - DH has an annual check for the macular degeneration and also he has a retinopathy examination every year; he was told by different practitioners on separate occasions that he can help keep the degeneration in check by taking supplements (he uses Eyecaps), eating plenty of dark green vegetables and drinking red wine. Any excuse .....

gulligranny Mon 19-Oct-15 19:55:55

I should probably add that DH's is the dry version of mac/degen, not the wet one.

whitewave Mon 19-Oct-15 19:57:30

Will give cheeks a go sometime I think. I bet it makes good gravy.

rosesarered Mon 19-Oct-15 20:01:47

Just soup for us today, spicy parsnip, with a slice of crusty buttered bread and a bit of cheese.

Ana Mon 19-Oct-15 20:09:53

Oh no, I'll never forget the smell of the cow's cheek my stepmother used to cook for the dog - it sat simmering in a huge pot on the stove all day and the whole house reeked of it...[yuk emoticon]

Evertheoptimist Mon 19-Oct-15 20:19:30

Hello! I'm new to this. But came home from work to find DH had cooked lightly dusted cod (M&S) with lots of veg. I'm trying to diet so all was going well until the bottle of wine was opened. Yummy, empty calories!

whitewave Mon 19-Oct-15 20:31:56

Now I've changed my mind ,ana

Parsleywin Mon 19-Oct-15 23:10:32

Success! Thanks for the swede info, jinglbellsfrocks. I put the peeled half swede on a plate and nuked it for about 12mins. A couple of patches refused to cook but I just trimmed them off and the rest was - delish! I normally steam it, or add to stews but I thought the flavour tonight was much superior. Shall do a whole one in it's skin next time.

Easy dinner tonight as DH and DS are off to the football and they eat at the pub on the way. So, a frozen sausage casserole with baked potato and peas eaten from a tray, watching Stenders and 2 episodes of Holby, wearing my jamas and dressing gown with a nice glass of white wine

whitewave Tue 20-Oct-15 11:25:22

Slow cooker chicken and bacon hotpot runner beans and cabbage. Stewed apple and custard left over from yesterday. There is enough hotpot for two days. So will have that tomorrow with Queen of pudding

Worlass Tue 20-Oct-15 11:28:19

Hi Gulligranny and thanks for the info. I, too, take supplements for the macular degeneration. Been taking Lutein for 2-3 years now. Think it must be helping, as only had one course of eye jabs thus far. Sorry, everyone else for going off the subject. By the way, tonight's tea will be gammon (done in slow cooker) with home-made mushy peas, tomatoes and chips. Very naughty, but very yummy. The liver I had yesterday was also yummy. No wonder all my clothes seem to be shrinking in the wash! grin

hildajenniJ Tue 20-Oct-15 12:07:56

Today we will be having haggis, Lorne sausage, eggs, roast tomatoes and home made oven chips. After all that, probably no pudding.

Greyduster Tue 20-Oct-15 12:42:28

We don't usually eat our main meal at lunch time, but DH is off to football tonight and time will be short, so I have just made stir fried steak with mushrooms, bamboo shoots, cornichons and spring onions, with egg fried rice. Followed by orange jelly!smile
